  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.

IMDB links that look like Wikilinks edit

Hi SecretSquirrel9. Following your post at the Teahouse, I noticed this edit to Jimmy Carr in which you added an external link to IMDb. We don't do that for the reasons mentioned at WT:WikiProject Film/Archive 79#Masking imdb links as wikilinks and WP:ELBODY. I removed that link. However, what I'm really interested in is how you learned, as a relative newcomer here that such method of linking to IMDb would work? I mean, where did you learn that the code [[imdbtitle:0208065|''The Colour of Funny'']] would work as a link? I ask so that if this is mentioned somewhere e.g. in a Help page I can go and alter that advice to prevent having to clean up such usage. Regards. Hello. Errrr....no idea! I'd been tidying up IMDB as well as some bits of nonsense have proliferated around the web. For example - someone added that Jimmy did the voice of a character in a movie (Magik) from Canada (he didn't) and you would not believe how many sites and databases I've been trying to remove that from.
While i was in both places I added Colour of Money and I think all I did was copy/paste in the IMDB URL into a Link field. Probably a mixture of not knowing what i was doing - and yet having enough IT nous to try it. Fatal combination!
I do find parts of this interface really confusing and I've got several decades of IT career under my belt. This chat feature reallllllyyy flummoxes me - such a bizzy layout. So please "bear with".

No problem! Keep up the good work. You may be interested to know that there are some approved IMDb templates which are valid in "External links" sections of articles. See WP:IMDBTEMPLATE. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:34, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Steady on...that's a bit tricky! I've saved it in my ever growing mega list of things to read... Thanks for assisting. T SecretSquirrel9 (talk) 18:02, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Punchup live moved to draftspace edit

Thanks for your contributions to Punchup live. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:58, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
