CE edit

Hi,i am a CE student and i want to know if you like your job, and if CEs have to work under pressure, thanks.Daniel Leite 13:15, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Computer Engineering is a challenging but intellectually rewarding discipline. You will have a broad yet detailed knowledge of both computer hardware and software, from how boolean logic is built from silicon, to arithmetic units, to a pipelined processor, to machine code, to assembly code, to how higher-level languages compile into lower level code. However, you may find it equally challenging to find a Computer Engineering job. I was unable to find one in the midwest, and would have been forced to move to California or Texas to find better prospects. Instead I got a job as a programmer. So being a computer engineer has its benefits and downsides. The negative is that you may not find a job in the specific field of computer engineering, but the positive is that employers will find you competent enough to get a job in the range from software to circuit design. Personally, I'm liking programming as a job more than hardware, though I still put computers together as a hobby. I work a 40 hour job with good pay and benefits, in an air conditioned building in downtown Chicago, though your first technical job may not be nearly as nice. If want to talk more feel free to leave another message :) Cnadolski 14:44, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

fr:brunner edit

Hi. I was looking over Wikipedia:Translation_into_English/French and saw the fr:brunner request which you had undertaken. The last comment says "Completed". If this means that you have completed the project, could you please delete it and close it (by putting a line at the bottom of the page as indicated)? If I misunderstand what you meant, please update the status tag with the current status of the project. I'd appreciate it, since I'm trying to help with the extreme backlog on FR->EN. Many thanks! --Storkk 23:44, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I meant to say "Completed Christiane Brunner". I've updated the translation page to reflect this. There are a few more articles by the name of "Brunner" to complete.--Cnadolski 14:41, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads-up to vote! I would have never found this on my own.—Cnadolski 17:19, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cnadolski, I enjoyed the meetup with you as well. On the way back home to Wisconsin, I got to see a side of Chicago I had not seen before. It's an enjoyable place. Since the Blue line is down, the ride was free, and the bus was filled with nice people, too. I was amused to see that the bus driver stopped for a pretty girl in a summer dress, who had flagged down the bus, and then drove right by another woman (of my age), who tried to do the same thing a few stops later. I really enjoyed how we all shared, and how we all learned from each other. Best, Ancheta Wis 04:38, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to talk more at the meetup. I look forward to seeing more of your work on wiki. Hope to see you again, Tom Harrison Talk 20:15, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Request for assistance edit

Hello, my name is Ian, and I would like to ask for your assistance in translating two wikipedia pages into French. I don't know if you are willing or able to take on requests such as this at this time, so please let me know. The two pages I would like your help in are Kemetic Orthodoxy and Tamara Siuda. I noticed from your user page that one of your interests is Ancient Egypt, so hopefully most of the words will be familiar to you.

I hope to hear back from you either way. - IanCheesman (talk) 05:52, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Either you have participated in past votes and discussions or you have recently signed up to be a part of WP:CHICAGO. In either case, please come visit Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chicago/Assessment where we are determining who to add to the September 1st ballot. Some candidate debates have lingered, but there are many new ones from the project's top 50 according to the Wikipedia:Release Version 0.7. Hockey sticks etc edit

Hi Cnadolski, in case you didn't know already one of the participants in the discussion about the hockey stick controversy is associated with the Real Climate blog and likely will not accept any of your arguments that are conflicting with the views promoted there. Regards.-192.94.73.10 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:38, 7 October 2009 (UTC).Reply

Since Hockey stick controversy seems to be specifically about the Mann hockey stick, and not hockey stick climate graphs in general, it seems that other editors don't care about Briffa's hockey stick. Even though his chart is still used in many places. Rather than fight an uphill battle to include Briffa's hockey stick in the article, I have discovered more productive uses of my time--unless of course, others want to expand the article and I'll help contribute.Cnadolski (talk)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:50, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
