Ecuadorian general election edit

I was trying to fix the infobox on this election page; under Guillermo Lasso and Alberto Acosta the party names were not showing up correctly. I had thought that by changing the names to the Spanish versions the infobox would be able to find the correct templates and work properly, but this was not the case. That was all I had tried to do - I'm sorry if my edits were causing problems. If you could help me fix the problem with that page's infobox, I'd greatly appreciate that. Thank you!

File permission problem with File:Snowline Logo.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Snowline Logo.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NtheP (talk) 22:38, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your recent AfD. edit

Thanks for trying to help, but the title of that article is inappropriate as it is, and qualifies for speedy deletion. An AfD was not really necessary. Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Reviewer edit

Hi Cmckain14. I'm a bit confused about your recent edits to Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Reviewer. You seem to have removed your previous declined request, and added a new one. Was that your intent? If that's the case, you do not need to remove your declined request, as that one will be archived in due course, and I'd recommend against putting in a new one until you have gained some more editing experience. - Bilby (talk) 04:16, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

A beer for you! edit

Relax! Your hard and steady work will be rewarded no need to rock the boat. I think the concern about reviewer rights isn't just the number of edits but the type of edits as TW doubles each edit as one to the page and one to the user space. A week here or there isn't going to dampen your abilities to edit Wikipedia. I recommend you continue to work hard at CVU and also try and branch out, such as continue your work on CSD's, XFD's, and other deletions. Also it might be good to follow the help desk or other related projects so you can gain more exposure. Good luck! Don't hesitate to ask for advice or other questions on my talk page. Notability of schools edit

Hi Cmckain14; after a brief involvement reverting vandalism to an article you created [1], I noticed that is was one of several you've started about middle schools [2]. Per WP:WPSCH/AG#N, middle schools are not considered notable enough to merit Wikipedia articles, unless their import can be proven in the same means as would be expected of any organization or company. Further, you also appear to be working on an article about a school district, including separate headings for middle schools and elementary schools, with redlinks that suggest you may be considering distinct articles about these as well [3]. If you haven't done so already, please read school article guidelines, and don't be too surprised if such articles are eventually deleted. Very best and cheers on your continued endeavors, 99.136.254.88 (talk) 00:23, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Quail Valley Middle School edit

The article Quail Valley Middle School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I have merged all infomation from this article into SJUSD's page. Please delete as soon as possible.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cmckain14 (talk) 00:35, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Incidentally, you might want to consider making it a redirect to the school district page, rather than deleting it. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 00:37, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've edited here for years, and never encountered another editor who so quickly and flexibly responded to a suggestion that meant, in essence, upending one's own work. This user is impressed. Cheers, 99.136.254.88 (talk) 01:05, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
That was not upending because it was a good idea. Those pages were already facing scrutiny and redirecting them to sections on the district page was the best way to do it without them being just deleted. Cmckain14 (talk) 01:07, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Cmckain14! Congratulations on getting access to rollback! That said, I'd like to reiterate Lectonar's comments above - it is easy to misuse rollback, as it is only for uncontroversial vandalism. You seem to be making a few mistakes here and there with using it, so the best way of approaching it is to slow down a bit, be very cautious, and only use it for the clearest cases. Good luck with your editing, though, and thanks for helping keep vandalism in check. - Bilby (talk) 08:16, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes... edit

You did a mistake reverting it. First, Iberian phonotactics, unlike the English one, makes coda sibilants assimilate the voicing of the next sound instead of the earlier one. So, for example, Spanish has [z] as allophone of /s/ before voiced consonants, while Portuguese may have [z ~ ʒ ~ ʑ] before voiced consonants (but we [fortunately] got no merger of /s/ and /z/ between vowels – even if Spanish changed in this direction, the phonotactics is still the same). Second, lenition of consonants happen in most environments, including in word boundaries, though not after a pause, after a nasal consonant (or vowel, for that matter), and in the case of /d/ and /ʝ/, after /l/. Third, río is a noun, and nouns are almost always stressed in Iberian languages. Regards. 177.65.49.210 (talk) 02:09, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, dude, but I actually was a registered editor for 2 years, with about 1700+ edits in total (1400-1500+ of them in mainspace I think), but I got somewhat afraid of being judged for actions that I could perfectly do anonymously. Not that I was a polemic or uncivil Wikipedian, I just have social phobia and/or a strong evidence for Asperger's so everything I did wrong with my real name made me feel a bit ridiculous; my English skills is often ridiculous too, as it is my third language and I learned it entirely online with reading and bits of socialization, and I want to put my head into a hole everytime I see edits of mine in 2010, when I started here at 16, only with Google and extremely poor school English that teached few things apart of the verb 'to be'. But after a break starting in late October and ending in mid January, I decided I still love English Wikipedia anyway, and most people here were warm to me, just as you, so I should still mantain activity and a look in (well, it is impossible to pry about what is happening in the community without feeling an intense urge to edit or discuss too). :) 177.65.49.210 (talk) 02:40, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Could you find it? I made some more edits to prove my point (it is really me, even if such discrepancy of the time I said I was breaking and how much I actually broke is shameful, but as people say, Wikipedia is addictive xD). Also, I just saw that you entered here this January, and already did as many things as much as me. Congratulations, you're really great! Reversion of Edit edit

In the article Pope Pius XII reforms of Eastern Canon Law, I changed the sentence:

Sempiternus Rex was issued in 1951 on the 15th anniversary of the Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon.

to read:

Sempiternus Rex was issued in 1951 on the 15th centenary of the Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon.

The Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon was held in AD 451 (1500 years prior to 1951). The word "anniversary" would mean that it was held in 1936. The reason I used the term "centenary" rather than changing "15th" to read "1500th" was because the word was used earlier in the paragraph:

Orientalis Ecclesiae was issued in 1944 on the 15th centenary of the death of Cyril of Alexandria, a saint common to Orthodox and Latin Churches.

If that sentence correctly reads "on the 15th centenary" (as St. Cyril died in AD 444) – 1500 years prior to the issuing of the Encyclical in question – then certainly the sentence I changed should read "15th centenary" as well or at least "1500th anniversary."

Why did you find this change to be nonconstructive? — 50.125.102.233 (talk) 05:27, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cmckain14 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

After 2000 edits, rollback rights and being a part of Wikipedia for a month, I get banned for being a sock. If I maybe can get unblocked I could continue fighting vandalism and continue my plan to get all state legativles arch charts. Please forgive me for what happened in the past.

Decline reason:

The fact that no one caught on to your block evasion for a month and in that time you managed to rack up some permissions in no way exempts you from our policy on the illegitimate use of multiple accounts. You are not eligible for a clean start - you will need to address your original block in order for any unblock to be considered. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:47, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

After many declined unblock requests you were given clear instructions from ArbCom on your talk page as what you would need to do to be unblocked. If you had followed those instructions this would likely be moot and you would be able to edit freely. Instead you bypassed the process and created a sock account to start editing again, which is unfortunate. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:52, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think they would of just declined my unblock request. The funny thing is I forgot that I even had a blocked account. When I saw I was blocked, I almost had a heart attack because up until that point, Wikipedia was my life. Having rollback, I think was my favorite thing to do on Huggle. Cmckain14 03:31, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
I think that after watching the contributions of this user, he has become an asset for the 'pedia instead of a hazard. Cmckain14, I'd strongly recommend to contact ArbCom for an appeal. — ΛΧΣ21 18:54, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I will never get unblocked on my old account. After all of the good editing I do on Wikipedia, I get banned for something I get a year ago. A year ago! In the VERY unlikely event, I get unblocked in the future I will continue to revert vandalism. My resent sock's edits prove I mean well to Wikipedia.

Decline reason:

The "good edits" by your sock are completely eradicated by your willingness to evade a valid block. When your time away was complete you had a formal requirement to request unblock on your original account - WP:SOCK was merely showing the community that you spit on the policies you agreed to (✉→BWilkins←✎) 02:41, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom unblock appeal declined edit

Cmckain, by creating a new account you evaded your block. The appropriate way to show to the community that you are willing and able to follow consensus and procedure is by following appropriate procedure. If you wish to edit Wikipedia again, you need to make an appropriate appeal at the appropriate time.

After six months of not editing Wikipedia under any account including IP accounts you may again apply to have your block reviewed. As there is no automatic entitlement to an unblock you will need to provide us with good reasons why we should do so. Additionally, we would expect to see evidence of insight into the conduct that caused the problems in the first place, as well as commitment to changed and well-controlled behaviour.

Hey, buddy edit

Before my IP changes as it is usual to happen each month or 2 of them, I just wanted to wish you good luck. Perhaps in the meantime you are blocked here we could befriend on IM, then I would teach you some Portuguese and thus you could use orkut (the best social network ever, I tell you) so we would laugh at Brazilian emo senhoritos (this became an actual word in Portuguese in the last 6 years thanks to them), their haters and much more of the stories me and my friends lived to tell. You would also help my overcoming of my always terrible English! You showed that you can be really helpful to the project, way way better than me, so it is saddening, and even if I just met you, you seemed to be a really good person. Best wishes, Lguipontes. :) 177.65.49.210 (talk) 04:34, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I will just say something more now because being misinterpreted in Wikipedia is dangerous, I don't wanna hurt your feelings! It seems like I misinterpreted things (nope, I'm not pro-puppetry). I thought you vandalized before January 1st, and this was your entirely new account, and you behaved very well since the start of the year, and you didn't use your old one for long... *Goddamn, Lgui, y u no read before commenting?!* But it seems you engaged in high level puppetry, eh. Anyway, my invite is still open. Maybe you just need refreshing your head for a few months. ^^ ~Esperanza~ Also, do Anglophones find this kind of mild-case tiopês (e.g. using certain names between tildes to indicate feelings, much as ~bulen~, that is like saying, jokingly "intimidate, intimidate!" – it is our pronunciation of your verb bullying xD) cool? Sometimes I write it as if it was a Portuguese-speaking teenage environment, some guys my friends know from tumblr like it, but I'm afraid I sound ridiculous here... Also, is this kind of random talk of mine funny or annoying? ^^ 177.65.49.210 (talk) 04:59, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:54, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey! edit

Hello Cmckain. I hope you're doing well. Almost two months have passed now, and only four are ahead. I see that you have dedicated time to learn Wikipedia code, and that's great. I have your talk page watchlisted and take a look at it here and then to make sure that everything is okay :) — ΛΧΣ21 05:03, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, it is really boring without Wikipedia but at least my talk page is still unblocked. I am trying to install my own Mediawiki server on my computer, but it is not the same. Cmckain14 19:11, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

this page edit

I'm not sure why you think you'll be back any time at all; you're blocked indefinitely for abusing multiple accounts, and the fact that you've been evading your block by editing without logging in makes it much less likely you'll ever be unblocked. --jpgordon::==( o ) 21:56, 24 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well I will be applying for WP:OFFER in about 4 months and I would never hurt my unblock chances by block evasion. No, never would I do that. Cmckain14 22:06, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
You already have. In the last 24 hours, more than once. Hint: editing user talk pages is just as bad as any other block evasion. --jpgordon::==( o ) 23:42, 24 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Proof? I am too busy trying to build my own Wiki. My town has like 10 IP addresses for like 6,000 people. Cmckain14 00:09, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
And even if my unblock request is denied in about 4 months, I will try again. Cmckain14 00:15, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

IRC office hours for wiki-mentors and Snuggle users edit

Hi. We're organizing an office hours session with the Teahouse to bring in mentors from across the wiki to try out Snuggle and discuss it's potential to support mentorship broadly. The Snuggle team would appreciate it if you would come and participate in the discussion. We'll be having it in #wikimedia-office connect on Wed. July 17th @ 1600 UTC. See the agenda for more info. --EpochFail(talkwork), Technical 13 (talk), TheOriginalSoni (talk) 17:20, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Huggle 3 edit

Hey Cmckain14! I am Petrb, one of core developers of Huggle, the antivandalism tool, which you are beta testing (according to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers). I am happy to announce that Huggle 3 is ready for some testing. You can read more about it at WP:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta. Please keep in mind that this is a development version and it is not ready for regular use. That means you must:

  • Watch your contribs - when anything happens you didn't want, fix it and report a bug
  • Frequently checkout source code and build latest version, we change it a lot

If you find any problem with a feature that is supposed to work perfectly, please let us know. Some features are not ready yet, it is listed in known problems on Huggle3 beta page, you don't need to report these - we know it! So, that's it. Have fun testing and please let us know about any problems, either using bugzilla @ http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/ or #huggle connect. Please respond to my talk page, I am not going to watch your talk page. Thank you Petrb (talk) 10:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ban Appeal edit

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Ok it has been so long, I don't even remember how long it had been since I got blocked (9 months). After such time, I think I can edit responsibly. I am ok with any restrictions you want to place (EX: Only use one account) but it is too painful to see vandalism be missed and improvement not done. As for something I plan to if I get unblocked, I plan to rebuild many of the election-related pages on Wikipedia. Admins, thank you for your time. Wikipedia:OFFER

Decline reason:

You need to make any unblock requests from your original account. Appeals from that account must currently be made via ArbCom; enough time has elapsed for them to now consider a new appeal. Please contact arbcom-l@lists.wikimedia.org from your original account to request an unblock. Yunshui  08:27, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Huggle message edit

Hey Cmckain14! You are receiving this message because you are subscribed at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers

I have recently launched a new downloads for beta testers that contains nightly builds of huggle, eg. versions that are built every day from our master branch and contains latest huggle. These builds are currently provided only for Windows and Ubuntu. You can find them here: http://huggle.wmflabs.org/builds/

Please keep in mind that these don't have any automatic updates and if you download and start using nightly build, you will need to update it yourself! So don't get yourself to running old version, it's possible to install both stable and nightly huggle, which is what I suggest.

Keep the bug reports coming to phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/create/?projects=Huggle Many thanks! Petrb (talk) 09:55, 28 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Alaska Senate Diagram.png edit

The file File:Alaska Senate Diagram.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned, with no clear use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
