Speedy deletion nomination of Chris M. Allport

edit

A tag has been placed on Chris M. Allport requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Chris M. Allport, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 07:46, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest

edit

Your username indicates that you may yourself be the same Chris M. Allport who is subject of your article. I would urge you to study Wikipedia's guidelines concerning Conflict Of Interest at WP:COI, and refrain from making any further edits to the article, as Wikipedia frowns on self-promotion, and even the hint of self-promotion falls under immediate scrutiny. That said, I have done some research into the award history of Chris M. Allport and feel that the article might be saved from deletion due to the subject having won or been nominated for multiple notable awards per our guideline at WP:ANYBIO... that is, the series of Young Artist Awards in the 1990s. Please feel free to study a guide for beginers on which I am working, and feel free to edit other articles as you learn our processes.... but you really need to refrain from the Allport article. If you can offer links to articles or reviews of Allport's work... and this would be reviews and articles in Reliable Sources and not blogs or self published websites, you can either list them on the article's talk page as you have begun doing, or send them to me at User talk:MichaelQSchmidt for review... and no, Wikipedia does not consider IMDB, CD Baby, blogs, or iTunes to be "reliable sources". Reliable sources are third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy... and the aforementioned are not quite them. Thank you, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:09, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
