Grievance

Hello,

I sent a message to Cluebot NG, on 26th July 2021, so 6 months ago now.

This concerned 5/6 different articles on horror films, that I had edited, which were then apparently reverted by Cluebot. But I was then made aware by a volunteer, that at least 3 volunteers were involved in the reverting/removal of my edits, so obviously not just done by a bot then. I will copy and paste the message I sent below, so you can see what I am referring to.

I had also highlighted that the volunteer who spoke with me, although helpful with their response, also made a comment towards me directly, which I felt was rude, and unnecessary. I did offer to provide the username of this admin, and the comment that they provided, yet this was not responded to?

It would appear, in my opinion, that negative behaviour from a volunteer, towards a basic Wikipedia user like myself, will seemingly not be dealt with. Hopefully I am wrong, but this would not surprise me, as this is something that I have seen before in my field of work.

I will now share my previous message to Cluebot NG, below:

"Hello again, regarding the 5/6 different articles on horror films that I edited.

I've been informed yesterday evening by one of your volunteers, via email, that at least 3 other volunteers were involved in the reverting/removal of my edits.

So I'm a little confused as to why the messages I originally received, told me that my edits were reverted/removed by the computer program "ClueBot", not once mentioning any additional human involvement.

Also, the volunteer that spoke with me, although helpful and explanatory in his response, also included a comment which was aimed at me directly, which I felt was rude and unnecessary.

I will be happy to share the name of your volunteer, and the comment in question, if you request this information.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Thank you for taking the time to read my message, and my previous message which I have shared above. Could I please be replied to by an admin, and be assured that the conduct of this particular volunteer in July 2021, will be investigated, and dealt with?.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Hi JackWitch, I'm not a admin but I did review what you were talking about. It appears you made two edits, one that was reverted by the bot and one that was reverted manually by a user. It's a little unclear what your grievance is. Mannysoloway (talk) 04:31, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi Mannysoloway,

Thank you for taking the time to read, and respond to my message. As I stated in my previous message, my main grievance is regarding a comment which seemed to be directed at me, by a particular volunteer, which I felt was rude and unnecessary.

I do intend to report the comment, as well as the username of this volunteer, to one of the admins. Provided of course, that the admin staff are willing to communicate with me. By any chance, would you happen to know how I would contact an admin? And if so, would you be willing to share that information with me?

Thanks again for your response, I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Question

Out of curiosity, unless it's a secret, what triggered ClueBot here:[1]? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:57, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

CluebotNG uses neural network technology, which is notorious for being inscrutable as to the causes of decisions. It's probably not a set of secrets so much as generally hard to know (although to the extent known, it would likely be inadvisable to publicize it). I might be able to make some guesses as to a few of the many influences on the decision, but I'm an outsider and know nothing of CluebotNG's internals. --R. S. Shaw (talk) 06:07, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Incorrect WP author in reversion

Not sure where to post this I'm sorry. ClueBot page says to contact the authors in WP, and their pages say to come here. This is not a false positive report but a bug report. There seems to be no outstanding issues/bugs on the GitHub page though.

ClueBot NG reverts a "vandalism" edit on History of Television, revert ID 4081182. I did NOT make this original vandalism edit, as you can clearly see from the history. However the CBNG reversion in the history states that I did. I made 3 small grammar edits prior to the vandalism edit, and the vandalism edit did not have a user name. So I'm guessing that CBNG used my account name for the anonymous edit which followed it. This is clearly incorrect because the IP addresses don't even match my edits.

So now I have been flagged as vandalising this page. Any other bot or WP system that goes looking for vandals, will now see me as being a vandal.

Could you please look into this or tell me where to report this issue. If there's no response here then I may have to report the bot to approvals to see if I can get it disabled. It seems to be doing well reporting true positives (it was a vandalism edit), but the user attribution is extremely damaging to the reputation of users. I believe this is unacceptable for a WP bot with revision powers.

Thanks. I'm not angry. I'd just like someone to get onto it and see why and hopefully fix it. I'm also amazed that nobody else has reported this.

Are you talking about the edit summary text that Cluebot put on its revert? That text is:
Reverting possible vandalism by 77.102.188.76 to version by Kashum. Report False Positive? Thanks, ClueBot NG. (4081182) (Bot)
That text, as you can see above, blames 77.102.188.76 for the possible vandalism, not you (Kashum). --R. S. Shaw (talk) 06:36, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Here are backup batteries!
Thank you for your help in our battle against vandalism, you are very helpful, and very annoying since patrollers may have edit confident with you, esp. with Twinkle.[Joke] You like batteries, aren't you?

Moving "Master Detailed Indices" to "Main Detailed Indices"

Hi there, do you have any thoughts about moving the Master Detailed Indices pages used by ClueBot III to "Main Detailed Indices", per mw:Inclusive language? I could carry this out if it is reasonable. Thanks, 🐶 EpicPupper (he/him | talk) 04:51, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

User talk:ClueBot NG

The talk page redirect for ClueBot NG currently has messages on it – I believe these are not wanted. I can't remove them as that page is fully protected (not entirely sure why but I don't really care). Skarmory (talk • contribs) 09:11, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Issue with archiving at User talk:Itcouldbepossible

On Feb 16, I setup automatic archiving with ClueBot III for my mentee's talk page. The bot came by the same day, but only archived half of the page's content for some reason. I have checked and double checked the parameters and cannot figure out what is wrong. ––FormalDude talk 23:19, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi, FormalDude. Threads in User talk:Itcouldbepossible do not spend 360 hours. Threads restored by your revision Special:Diff/1070966941 at 05:53, 10 February 2022 become the new threads. Sawol (talk) 04:25, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
That is what I thought the problem might be. Thanks, Sawol! ––FormalDude talk 07:29, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

Mangala Vaathiyam

Hey why did you add the Hindi track list in Mangala Vaathiyam. I am not telling that you have made a mistake. But why I removed the content is that because they were not necessary in the article if there was enough content in the soundtrack section where another article can be stemmed from it, we could then added the dubbed tracks to that article. However, in the current state of the article, the dubbed tracks take up so much space that it might as well be considered as dead space in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.177.156.102 (talk) 15:00, 25 February 2022 (UTC)

ClueBot III no longer archiving my Talk page

Hi folks. ClueBot III hasn't been archiving my Talk page since mid-December 2021. I think it may be because some revisions were redacted then. Could someone help me with getting it going again? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 21:18, 25 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Robby.is.on. All are grammatically correct. But User talk:Robby.is.on page has many hidden revision histories. It seems that the open revision at 03:11, 16 December 2021‎ will let ClueBot III work. Sawol (talk) 06:22, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply, @Sawol:. Sorry, I don't understand. Could you rephrase that? Is there anything I need to do? Robby.is.on (talk) 23:29, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
I think that ClueBot III will work at 03:11, 16 March 2022 by |age=2160. Wait ClueBot III's working, or adjust the parameter |age=2160. Cheers. Sawol (talk) 06:35, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Ah, got it. Thanks! Robby.is.on (talk) 18:09, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
