hi cluebot

hello! here is a cookie, reverting vandalism all day must be tiring D: 🍪 PolarWafflez5327 (talk) 17:17, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

false positive

The bot (understandably) reverted an edit to Fred Martin (Idaho politician) believing it to be a false positive. The relevant wikipedia policies allow the edit as it is an unseen comment left in place to warn against certain behaviors and repeated disruptive edits and other actions against wikipedia policy. 96.18.16.196 (talk) 03:16, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

ClueBot NG glitch?

I think ClueBot NG is supposed to give increasing warnings, but I noticed that on a recent vandal talk page ClueBot NG gave two of the same warning to the user, making a new section in the same month. Is this supposed to happen? Noah!💬 18:07, 9 March 2021 (UTC) [1] is the page. The user had 2 vandal edits reverted by ClueBot NG within 5 days of each other in March, but it gave two separate warnings.

ClueBot Made A Mistake.

Unfortunately, ClueBot has reverted an edit which should've been done. In the wikipedia page 'Voodoo' I added a part saying that Paper.io was a copy of Splix.io, it's almost the same. I tried reporting it but I kept getting the words "BAD CAPTCHA" everytime I tried to submit. 109.158.15.212 (talk) 17:47, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

I had the exact same problem; I tried moving around to improve my connection but the captcha never worked. Is this a recent error? How has anybody gotten around this, or what can we do instead to fill out the ClueBot NG Report Interface? --DoDososeSe (talk) 17:33, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Archiving by year and month

I'd like to draw your attention to a (probably minor) issue, which I posted about at the Help desk. nagualdesign 18:25, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

bad captcha

i submitted a false positive on your website but it repeatedly blocked the submission due to a bad captcha. i.d.: 3924710.Catchpoke (talk) 03:38, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Another user and myself both experienced the same problem; it's under "ClueBot Made a Mistake." It seems like a recent issue. I'm probably going to reach out to the Help Desk in a few days but I'm afraid to edit until this is resolved because I don't want my edits to be mistakenly flagged by ClueBot again. --DoDososeSe (talk) 16:17, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Assuming you're meaning your talk page, you set it to 720 so it's threads that are over 30 days that it'll archive.-- 5 albert square (talk) 00:10, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Vandalism after blocks

Hi! What is CBNG's threshold for reporting to AIV? How old does a warning have to be? Does it take account of previous blocks? It seems to me that the threshold could be lowered a little. For example, it gave a level 1 warning to User talk:71.224.82.240, but that IP had a level 4 warning nine days ago and has been blocked twice since then. In cases like this, a re-block is necessary and I would rather have CBNG report straight to AIV, perhaps including a ping to the previous blocking admin. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:49, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

HJ Mitchell I'm sure ClueBot NG now reports after 3 warnings and I think it's 48 hours before it considers warnings stale. I'm not sure that it would take into account blocks, it may well not because if it's an IP then it could be re-assigned to another user. I agree with your suggestion though. -- 5 albert square (talk) 17:29, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

How?

What keeps Cluebot NG up and running 24-7? A supercomputer in a big company building? A computer placed at the bottom story of a home? --Heymid (contribs) 00:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

ClueBot can't read an article because it's not human. That said, I can understand why the bot reverted it, it's because signs such as "!" are commonly used by vandals. If it's not vandalism then please follow the instructions ClueBot left you on your talk page to report it. I've also taken the liberty of removing the unreferenced sentence per WP:BLP-- 5 albert square (talk) 13:30, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Spacing of archive sections

I wish to report that I use ClueBot III to archive my Talk page, but when I review the source text of the archive, I find that ClueBot is not spacing the sections properly. After a ClueBot III automatic archive, there is no space between the previous section, and the newly archived section. Thus, I am having to manually add a line break between the archived sections. Example of a ClueBot III archive before I manually add a line break...
== Section heading A ==

Text belonging to Section A.
== Section heading B ==

After ClueBot III performs an archive, Section B's heading is butted against text belonging to the previous section. Before the archiving, the sections were properly spaced (I have verified this), but after archiving, they're not. They should be separated by a line break that normally follows the text.
— Christopher, Sheridan, OR (talk) 11:56, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

This does not seem to change the rendered page at all for me (I just verified it). It seems to render fine with or without the extra line break in the wikitext. What issue are you seeing? Perhaps a screenshot of ClueBot III's wikitext failing to render? -- Cobi(t|c|b) 15:07, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not referring to the page/article as visible to a viewer, but to the formatting in the source. Obviously, certain elements do not display when viewing a page/article, such as the equal signs for assigning section heading levels, and line breaks between sections (unless there is an excess of them). No, I'm referring strictly to the source code. The source code can be copy-pasted, as I've already done so using Template:Talk quote inline to mark such an example in lieu of the photo request, with the understanding as previously mentioned that I have since manually added the missing line break.

== International Bureau of Weights and Measures ==

Hello, DeFacto. As your own talk page is very populated, I'll bring this side-discussion here to my own talk page. I see that you are strongly contesting the exclusion of the initialism IBWM from the International Bureau of Weights and Measures article. I've brought you here to share with you my own similar experience.

Article Mustard gas, which is a misnomer for the chemical sulfur mustard because by definition, it is not a "gas". There was a discussion about moving the article Sulfur mustard → Mustard gas. I strongly contested the proposed move, but I was up against Wikipedia titling policies, and had exhausted all my arguments.

I lost the argument, but I gave it all I could. The relationship is that you appear to be standing on your own with the initialism IBWM, but you have argued strongly for what you believe, and I think these things go underappreciated.   Thank you — Christopher, Sheridan, OR (talk) 20:23, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
== Your custom signature ==

Your custom signature appears to violate the first policy/guideline constraint expressed at WP:CUSTOMSIG/P. I suggest renaming your user account if you want to keep that signature. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:31, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
(further text truncated; the above was edited to hopefully avoid pinging users)

As you can see from the above example, ClueBot III removed the line break from between my signature in the previous section, and the next section's heading, "Your custom signature". The line break appears in the current version, because I manually added it. Why is ClueBot III removing the line break that separates a previous section from the next section's heading? — Christopher, Sheridan, OR (talk) 15:16, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
  • There! ClueBot just archived a section of its own Talk page, removing the line break in the process, thus cramming the sections together in the source code exactly as I've described (see latest archive's source code). The entire archived page has section after section without a space between the previous section and the next heading. — Christopher, Sheridan, OR (talk) 16:43, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
This is valid wikitext, it does not affect the rendered page, and the archives are not meant to be further edited (as they are archives). I see no compelling reason here not to pack them as tightly as they will go on an archive page. It also helps (ever so slightly) with maximum archive size and maximum page size. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 01:58, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
  Thank you—that was what I wanted to know. Article sections are spaced between sections (new Talk page sections automatically generates a space between sections), but archives are condensed to reduce file size. — Christopher, Sheridan, OR (talk) 02:23, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

March 2021

  Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit that you made to Rolf Saxon has been reverted or removed because it was a misuse of a warning or blocking template. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. [Joke] Firestar464 (talk) 06:18, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
