Broadchurch spoiler

edit

Hey, sorry, I think I messed up and got a little overzealous undoing edits I perceived as vandalism over at Broadchurch. I misunderstood where we all were on the inclusion of some of the spoiler info. Anyhow, I saw your recent hidden comment and I won't restore the spoiler info until the dispute is resolved. Regards! Oh, and I filed a page protection request last night to help quell the IP edits. We'll see what happens there. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:31, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cyphoidbomb, Thanks for letting me know :) Clivel 0 (talk) 18:36, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
No probs. In retrospect, I do (politely) disagree with your re-removal of the spoiler info, but I'll expound on my disagreement on the dispute page. Regards. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:47, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dieudonné Comment

edit

Hi, would you care to read WP:BLP. I didn't say "I do not like the content". I say that content does not adhere to the mentioned policy, as it constitutes a crappy intent to associate "pseudofacts" about one person to another biography in order to push a particular characterization/narrative, violating the part about not including controversial content "that rely on guilt by association " (moreover in the introduction!). Best regards.--Asqueladd (talk) 07:50, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

[1] The text starts with Dieudonné has also been known to associate with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (President of Iran from 2005 to 2013), who has himself been accused of describing the Holocaust as a myth, referenced with "Holocaust comments spark outrage". It is a tendentious synthesis, particularly taking into account Dieudonné M'bala M'bala is not even mentioned by the source!. After that 2009/2015 meetings are "referenced".
"On 25 February 2015 Ahmadinejad Tweeted "Visiting an old friend, a great artist."" the tweet included photographs of himself and Dieudonné, arms around each other, smiling. This is a rather puzzling use of a primary source. Tweets now settle notability for an introduction? Not only tweets, but the description of images in those tweets??
"The two also met in 2009 during a visit by Dieudonné to the Islamic Republic of Iran where they reportedly discussed their shared anti-Zionist views." I guess "reportedly" here becomes a weasel word as the source does not mention "by whom". So the only factual, factual fact about Dieudonné M'bala M'bala is him meeting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009" and 2015 (and better sources are needed specially for the later meeting). That still is not notable information for the introduction (which should be a compilation of the rest of the article right?).--Asqueladd (talk) 08:12, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Asqueladd, It is not insignificant that the former President of the one of the world's largest countries, Iran, described Dieudonné as an "Old friend and great artist". Nor is it insignificant that this occurred when Dieudonné travelled to Iran to award Ahmadinejad with a “golden quenelle” (a golden statue of a man performing the quenelle) for being an "outstanding anti-Zionist". For further information see for example:
www.i24news.tv/en/news/international/62642-150228-anti-semitic-french-comedian-dieudonne-gives-award-to-irans-ahmadinejad
www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/jewish-world-news/1.644590
As to its place in the introduction, his association with Ahmadinejad is no less relevant than for example his association with Le Pen or Faurisson which also appear in the introduction. If you want to reword the paragraph feel free to do so. If you don't like the sentence "known to associate with", change it. If you are unhappy with the tweet being given as a reference feel free to use another reference such as the Haaretz link above which also includes a photo of the two with "arms around each other, smiling". Nevertheless what ever changes are made, it is important that it continues to reflect the reality, which is that Dieudonné is a man who has made an industry out of anti-Zionism, anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial. WP:BLPSOURCES

edit

Hello. Hillbillyholiday pinged me and I took a quick look. On the face of it I think edits like this one are indefensible in the face of our WP:BLPSOURCES policy. I think it would be ok to discuss this, but I would prefer if you could refrain from making any further edits of this type. Thanks. --John (talk) 22:48, 24 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

In addition, as a result of a recent ruling, all anonymous IP editors and accounts with less than 500 edits and 30 days tenure are prohibited from editing any page that could be reasonably construed as being related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. RolandR (talk)

Thank you for the WP:ACDS warning which I can only assume was made in good faith, nevertheless, as so many Israel haters are prone to point out, anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel are not necessarily synonymous so please do not conflate the two. In this case, this ruling clearly does not apply, because it is about Sizer's dissemination of anti-Semitic material, and not about the Arab-Israeli conflict. Discretionary Sanctions Notification - Biographies of Living People

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
