Re: Hello again, and...

Thank you! And thanks very much for all of your help with the Twilight (2008 film) article as well. Have a Happy New Year. Andrea (talk) 18:40, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Happy New Year's

Hey Cliff, Happy New Year, hope 2009 is starting to be a good year for ya. :) Let's pop out the champagne and stuff. Hey, do you think I can ask a favor in advance? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:21, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey there, Happy New Year to you as well! Frankly, it's started on a relatively even keel for me, so I'm content with that. And sorry I wasn't of much assistance with Maggie, I've been terribly busy as of late, and you have my deepest apologies for my lack of assistance with that. Hope I haven't let you down. As for the favor, lay it on me and I'll see what I can do. Cliff smith talk 05:47, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'm hoping that 2009 turns out to be your Best Year Ever. :) Its alright, your assistance paid off, Maggie's article is now FA, thanks to your help in copy-editing the article, for which I appreciate the help a whole lot. :) As for the favor, I was sorta wondering, for in the mere future, if you can copy-edit Kirsten Dunst's article, as I'm trying to her article to FA status. But, if you're busy, then you don't have to do it, cause I don't want you to have a work load because of me. If you can, I would appreciate it a whole lot. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:17, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
So, I read through it and it looks pretty darn good to me. Might make a couple tweaks here and there, but it seems like the PR has done a great work at polishing the prose. Not that there was very much to polish at the outset, mind you ;), but it looks to me like it's not far from FAC. Not far at all. Cliff smith talk 03:06, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Yup, I was told to open a PR before any nomination took place. The users at the PR were very helpful, with your help, you'll be included there as well. If you can make those tweaks, you don't know how happy you'll make me. :P --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:04, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

GA reassessment of Live and Let Die (novel)

I am conducting a review of this article as part of the GA Sweeps process. There are several concerns which have been left at Talk:Live_and_Let_Die_(novel)/GA1, which need to be addressed if the article is to retain GA status. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 19:48, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, what was your thinking re the closing as speedy? I -- as I suppose you saw -- thought it should be deleted but not speedily. What did I miss? Bigdaddy1981 (talk) 17:31, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I just closed it; the admin who deleted it marked it as a G11. It's in the page's log if you want to check it out. Cliff smith talk 18:16, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
G11? Really? O, well ... can't say I'm too concerned. Bigdaddy1981 (talk) 20:26, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Insect help

Thanks for your help on the article! A little insignificant (talk) 01:04, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

No problem! I had worked on it ref-wise a few months back, and I noticed it was up for GAC so I figured I'd give it a little polish in the same department. It certainly looks better than it did since the last time I gave it a good read. Nice work :) Cliff smith talk 01:09, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Heh, don't thank me. Most of the work was done by someone else, but when the last GA review failed I think he sort of lost heart in it. I've done what I can for him and for the article, but this may be a case of WP:DEPRESSION. (What do you mean that's a redlink? Somebody should have created it by now! Oh, what the heck, I'll do it tomorrow.) A little insignificant (talk) 01:23, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Wow, I was going to say thank you, cause I have been busy in real life, but it seems I was beaten' to it! No citations on 'Isabella I of Castile' page

Hello Cliff smith, I was reading the 'Isabella I of Castile' page, saw your name in the edit history and couldn't help but notice that there was not one single citation on the entire page... Not even a 'references/' tag in markup! Nice article but it needs citations, throughout. Regards, GWillHickers (talk) 19:13, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:19, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Per the discussions there, might you consier modifying your delete to either redirect as you suggest or perhaps even consider incubation? I would feel more confident in removing the keep from my comments if it is more apparent to a closer that there is consideration for redirect or incubation. Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:17, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I edited the AfD page itself so that it would display the first AfD discussion that was created for the article. Re: Rachel Nichols

Hey Cliff, what's up? How you been? Yeah, it's been a long time. Yeah, everything is good with me, how 'bout you? Yeah, I still work on actor bios., though, my last bio. to GA was Bridget Moynahan, and my last "accomplishment" I mean FA was with Brad Pitt. Sure, I can look at Rachel Nichols and see if everything is in order so that you can nominate it. Don't worry, my 30 Rock work can wait. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 19:51, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! I really appreciate it. Again, if you want help with anything, let me know. Glad to hear everything's good with you. I've been fine. Cliff smith talk 20:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome, just repaying the favors you did for me, so. :) At the moment, I don't have anything, but if I have something I'll let you know. I'm glad you're doing good, cause you a friend and stuff. ;) I don't think it's necessary to say where Nichols and her then-husband honeymooned, you know, cause where will it end; favorite color, favorite cat, favorite beach, etc. You'll probably be asked in the GA review if "Moviehole.net", "ShockTillYouDrop.com", "ReelViews.net", "Slash Film", and "TrekMovie" are reliable sources, I'm just saying this from a GA reviewers perspective; I would ask that question. To keep a consistency, you might want to make note that P2 was Nichols' first leading role in the Acting career section. Overall, the article is good, excellent work. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 21:08, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
I'll remove the honeymoon sentence. I'm pretty sure the sources you've listed are reliable; I appreciate the comment. I'll make note of P2 as her first leading role in "Acting career". Thank you for taking the time to check it out :) I think I'll nominate it tomorrow. Cliff smith talk 23:48, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, I like I said I would ask the "are these reliable" question. Hey, no problem, just repaying a favor and all that good stuff. Good luck with it at GAN. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 14:40, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Help required in "Rachel Nichols" page.

Hello Cliff. I feel the pic up on this page for Rachel is one of the worst possible. There are tons of pics available where she really looks angelic. The part on WIKI for "copyrighted" material is not very clear to me. Which are the exact kinds of pics that are not allowed to be used on WIKI? Can I say download a pic to my laptop, edit (maybe not) it, rename it and upload it directly from my machine? Whatever, what I would like to see on the page, is/are pic(s) that is/are 'justified'. TIA. 117.194.235.149 (talk) 16:10, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Sorry for the delay of my reply. As far as pictures that are and are not allowed to be used on Wikipedia, pictures that are used are almost always in the public domain, or are released under a Creative Commons license that permits their use on Wikipedia. The latter is the case for the picture currently displayed in the infobox at Rachel Nichols (actress). I'm not an expert on image copyright, so I'd suggest posting a query about this at WP:IMAGEHELP. Hope this helps. Cliff smith talk 04:25, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

"reliable source"

"Just because you may know something to be true/real/factual etc. doesn't mean you can add it without a reliable source. If you don't have a source for what you want to add, you really shouldn't add it."

what if I AM the source? I know it, it's the truth and I'm the source. so I need to print a book? sure, no problem. I can print anything. some (most) things have no sources, they are just facts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.253.15.24 (talk) 19:26, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

inre Wikipedia:Article Incubator/The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Hi Cliff. Just stopped by to let you know that now that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn has been live in mainspace for a while, the earlier incubated version is being discussed HERE. If you allow, I'd like to clean the incubated one out of the incubator using a G6 maintainance cleanup. Or if you still need it, it can be moved into your userspace. Okay with you? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:22, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

The material has been moved to Talk:The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn/Old. The only significant edits to the material were made by yourself, and it is being held there temporarily for your response. The edits were minor, though as a courtesy we are giving you the option of looking at them to see if you'd like to merge them into the mainspace article. If you have not responded after a reasonable time the material will be deleted. SilkTork ✔Tea time 09:46, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Why do you keep re-editing the 'no motive' to 'no illnesses' comment under the Death sub-head. Quoted sources state that the LA Coroner said that the notes did not provide a motive. http://wtvr.com/2012/08/26/coroner-says-tony-scott-notes-provided-no-suicide-motive/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/24/tony-scott-suicide-note-motive_n_1828316.html?utm_hp_ref=entertainment — Preceding unsigned comment added by Corbynz (talkcontribs) 2:43, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I had not seen either of the sources you have posted here. Also, neither of them are quoted in the article. That aside, I appreciate you bringing to my attention the fact that it has been stated that the notes did not provide a motive—I did not know that. However, when you edited the article to reflect this, you did not cite a source for verification. I have done so now. Oh, and please don't forget to sign your messages with (~~~~). Thanks, Cliff Smith 16:37, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I think that you are being a bit pedantic about this but I'm not going to enter into some editing fight about it. What is the significance of signing a message with (nowiki>Corbynz (talk) 16:55, 27 August 2012 (UTC)</nowki> ?

Typing four tildes will produce your signature—that's why I wrote that. Signing your messages is a behavioral guideline on Wikipedia, as you can see in the link I provided above. Cliff Smith 17:02, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, and the nowiki parser tag is there to keep the four tildes from parsing as wikimarkup. See WP:NOWIKI for what I mean. Cliff Smith 17:04, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I tagged the article with the tags I used because: I think some sections could be brought together for a smaller table of contents (granted, I know little about the article subject, and it's just my opinion), the lead should be expanded (not opinion: the article is currently about 29,000 characters, so the lead should be two or three paragraphs—not three sentences), and the article is and has been in need of more references (again, not opinion: there are whole paragraphs without a single reference and a {{Citation needed}} tag from three years ago). I don't know why you undid those tags. Also, please sign your messages. Cliff Smith 03:46, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Hiya, I undid your edit on Looper (film) because I felt that cast names in the plot the first time the character is something that should be mentioned first as it makes easier for the reader if they can put a face to a name straight away.
