MLS expansion article

edit

Not sure why you feel the need to remove the content wholesale. The Wilpons (along with the Cosmos brand) were integral to the 2010 NYC expansion discussions, though there was always the possibility that the expansion might have happened without the Cosmos, hence the edited section header. And most of the speculation about the future is coming from the Cosmos ownership, and there's no apparent discussion between MLS and the Cosmos, so it's almost entirely idle chatter, if not boosterism. Also, we're not going to include content because of unattributed speculation. Mosmof (talk) 16:35, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Expansion of Major League Soccer shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Mosmof (talk) 16:43, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

MLS is not a Canadian league

edit

I realise it's a complicated situation, but the MLS is not a Canadian league. It has some Canadian teams in it, but that is by virtue of the league's franchise system; the organisation of the league is handled entirely by American bodies. The third sentence of the article even says that the league is "sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation", making no mention of the Canadian Soccer Association. Bearing in mind also that the Canadian teams cannot qualify for continental competitions via MLS, the situation is almost totally analogous to The Football League, which contains some Welsh teams but is still an English league through which the Welsh teams cannot qualify for Europe and over which the Football Association of Wales has no jurisdiction. Furthermore, there is no direct link between the Canadian soccer pyramid and Major League Soccer, i.e. teams from the Canadian pyramid cannot be "promoted" to MLS, further reinforcing my point that Montreal Impact, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Toronto FC are only competing in the league because they happened to be awarded franchises; they are Canada-based clubs in an American league, but that does not make the league bi-national. – PeeJay 00:02, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
