My page "Duncan, Fraser & Bridges Insurance Agency, Inc." got deleted. Is there anyone that could help me edit it -- so that it would meet muster, and be re-published? I'd really appreciate any help. I re-posted the deleted page on my User page. Sincerely, Cleighholder (talk) 03:30, 8 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looking at your article, I would say that your would first need to read #5 here. While your entry was not a catalog per se, it did not reference any sources that were independent of the subject. All your sources were assessing the subject's standing as reviewed by the legal profession. You may also acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's general notability guideline for assistance. I am leaving your help request live so that other editors with more content experience will have an opportunity to weigh in. Feel free to message me if you have specific questions. Sorry, but I'm not convinced that what you have belongs in WP. When I view an article, I try to look at it through the eyes of someone searching on the internet for information on a subject. If they find an entry in Wikipedia, they deserve to find something encyclopedic about the subject (that is, more than just confirmation of name, address and size). Almost everything listed is purely directory information; where they are, and how big they are. It has a couple industry specific awards, but nothing that really tells me much. I assume they are a multi-line agency, but it doesn't even tell me that. Are they known for anything special? Do they have particular expertise in some area, say oil and gas? Have they designed any products, made any innovations in the industry? In other words, what makes them notable?--SPhilbrickT 15:10, 8 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
In addition to the points made above, the whole article was about how great and wonderful the company is. It read more like a brochure for the company than like an encyclopaedia article. Wikipedia is not a free advertising service. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:33, 8 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I really appreciate the time you took to respond to my request. I've really enjoyed getting involved, and I'm sure I'll catch on. Cordially, Cleighholder (talk) 17:07, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Duncan, Fraser & Bridges Insurance Agency, Inc. edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Duncan, Fraser & Bridges Insurance Agency, Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:42, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
