June 2018 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 17:45, 26 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

July 2018 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am attempting to raise awareness of this software, not for promotional purposes. I am aware of competitor software, SORCE Intranet, Igloo Software and Jostle Corporations which all have pages on Wikipedia. My attempt to add a page for the Hub is purely to offer a fair comparison of products on the List of Portal Software and List of Collaboration Software pages, but to do so i need to create a Hub Intranet wikipedia page.

Decline reason:

Raising awareness is considered promotional on Wikipedia. As stated when you were unblocked, you will need to review WP:PROMO, WP:COI, and WP:PAID. You will also need to describe what it is you want to contribute about here, as you won't be allowed to continue to promote Hub. I am declining this request. 331dot (talk) 13:06, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

If I was to disclose on User Talk profile that I am an employee of Pancentric Digital, would it enable me to continue editing? I am trying ascertain how other companies have managed to add their services on wikipedia. I have no wish to add incorrect or biased information, and will remove any overly promotional terminology from any pages that i add. thank you— Preceding unsigned comment added by Clare.willson2018 (talkcontribs)

I've removed the request formatting from your statement, it should only be used to request unblock, simple comments do not need that formatting. You seem to have a common misconception about what Wikipedia is; it is an encyclopedia, and not social media or other forum for companies to describe themselves or their products. This is an encyclopedia, which has articles about subjects shown to be notable with in depth coverage in independent reliable sources. Wikipedia has little to no interest in what a company wants to say about itself. Companies do not(or at least are not supposed to) add information about their services here. If they do, it is almost always detected and removed eventually. Representatives of companies are allowed to suggest changes related to their companies on article talk pages, but they should not edit articles dealing with their company directly. Please review the policies I linked to in my message declining your request. If you have any questions, please ask. 331dot (talk) 13:37, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

331dot Thank you for this information. I am aware of at least 3 companies / competitors that have included pages similar to the one I am attempting to add i.e. Intranet_portal- one of which Sorce_intranet has reference links that no longer exist. I would like to request that this user is unblocked so that I am able to at least edit additional pages like the Intranet Portal to add the Hub as an additional item. This is less about being promotional, and more about including the Hub alongside numerous other portal software who have already added their services to Wikipedia.

WP:OTHERSTUFF. Please provide your evidence that these three other pages have been illicitly created by people with a conflict of interest, so we can investigate and remove those pages. --Yamla (talk) 14:25, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yamla I do not wish to create discord or bad press for other organisations. I merely wish to include a page for a service alongside similar services already listed on their own article pages and on additional related pages. I doing my research for how to construct a wiki page, I found that competitor products currently listed on Wikipedia had reference links that no longer existed/worked, and were created by users who posted no other content and are no longer active. I do not wish to have a provider lose their wikipedia page, i merely wish to have the block removed. This is my first attempt at creating a wikipedia page and clearly i went about it incorrectly. I am less interested in having competitors removed, and more interested in learning what I should be correcting in order to have the block lifted.

Not every company or product merits an article here. Each page is judged on its own merits. Your competitors having articles does not automatically mean you get one too. 331dot (talk) 15:12, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
To get the block lifted, we have to be sure you have read and understood WP:COI, WP:PAID, and WP:PROMO, and that you will not directly edit articles dealing with your company. --Yamla (talk) 15:16, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
