Speedy deletion nomination of Neo-Catholicism

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Neo-Catholicism requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Ging287 (talk) 00:51, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

We believe the issue leading to the tag for deletion has been addressed, and that this version of entry contains far more information and sourcing than the original entry found to be "perfectly alright" during the discussion of deletion in 2006, when the entry was retained. The subject is clearly a matter of notability in the Catholic Church, and has been debated and discussed frequently in the Catholic press and blogosphere over the past twelve years. Also, the ibids, loc cits have been eliminated and there are now links to other Wikipedia articles with more to be added today.Circa Corleone (talk) 18:19, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 05:01, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please try to stay within the top three tiers of this hierarchy.

Hello, I'm TJRC. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christopher Ferrara that didn't seem very civil. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. TJRC (talk) 01:06, 16 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I must admit I am having a very difficult time following the rules of courtesy here. Did you send a similar inquiry to "Tarc," who has belittled as "fringe hate groups" long-established traditional Catholic newspapers and magazines who have provided coverage to Mr. Ferrara's work? Do you consider that civil discourse?Circa Corleone (talk) 01:25, 16 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

A further thought: no disrespect to you, but I see myself getting involved here in the same time-consuming, soul-sucking waste of time that tempted me in the 1990s with message boards. It's the same thing all over again, but on a more sophisticated platform. I am bowing out. Now. I mean from this whole thing, not just the talk with you. But I do have to say I find your little pyramid icon instructive. Where I come from "fringe hate groups" is at the bottom of your pyramid as ad hominem attack. Actually the very bottom: "name-calling." But I have seen very little consistency in applying the strangely malleable "guidelines" here, which is another reason I am pulling out before the hydra-headed beast consumes me. The game is rigged. Neo-Catholicism article

edit

Being the primary creator of this revised article (having had no part in the inadequate original that was deleted), I have addressed the maintenance issues by radically cutting length and modifying tone in several places. I have reverted the maintenance tag accordingly, and invite discussion of any further proposed improvements or anyone's edits.Circa Corleone (talk) 22:09, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

A cup of tea for you!
