War As It Really Is

Hi Chromista - I'm confused by part of the War As It Really Is, which you wrote.
The lead states ".... some of the most authentic sights and first-hand accounts of World War I before the United States entered the war."
Reel 7 "Shows mutilated corpses, abandoned German war materiel, and French and U.S. trenches."
The US did not enter the War until 6 April 1917, whereas the film was released on 15 October 1916 - How could it show U.S. trenches? - Arjayay (talk) 15:39, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Many thanks @Arjayay for pointing that out! This is direct from the shot list from the National Archives which got it wrong and I did not catch it. It is meant to say 'French and US flags'. I'm not sure why Thompson choose to conclude his film with the US flag. Perhaps to stir up patriotism in the US. Thanks again. Chromista (talk) 00:57, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
