Proposed deletion of Ron Van Rossum

edit

The article Ron Van Rossum has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:13, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Deletion denied: I added a reference as an external link to the homepage of the Belgium jazz association to which Ron Van Rossum is affiliated. Hope it is ok like this. --Christian Ries (talk) 00:55, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
That is really not enough to establish notability. Please review both WP:RS and WP:NMUSIC to better cite secondary reliable sources to establish notability. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 02:55, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Eddie Ware moved to draftspace

edit

Thanks for your contributions to Eddie Ware. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Youknowwhoistheman (talk) 14:47, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, isn't the source of this recent book on blues musicians enough of a source?
Leblanc E. S. & B. L. Eagle, 2013. Blues: A Regional Experience. Praeger Publishers Inc. 628 p. ISBN-13: 978-0274977475.
Have you tried out to search for Eddie Ware in Google? There is almost nothing about him out there. I recently bought the CD "Eddie Ware in session: A Pretty Wild Guy - 1951-1953 (CD, Compilation, Mono). Jasmine Records: JASMCD3248." and was astonished that there was no entry in any Wikipedia about this excellent blues pianist and singer. Please put the article back online and let other people participate in improving the article. Christian Ries (talk) 14:59, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey Chris, I hope you are doing well!
Thank you for your contribution, First of all, let me tell you that I have drafted your article after searching thoroughly everywhere (Google, Bing, Yandex). If you still feel that your article passes Wikipedia's general notability criteria, you can submit your draft for review. Thanks with warm regards. Hello Johannes,
I really don't understand this, and why should I post to know why the article was rejected? Just tell me.
I have written hundreds of articles in different Wikipedia projects.
I cited a standard book about blues musicians. Do you have this book and did you verify the information I retrieved from there? Either way, how can you write "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified." ? So do this, buy the book or go to a library and verify the content and contact me again. Until then, don't write as if you have done so. Not amused.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 18:06, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I wrote an article about a very little known blues pianist and cited a book (that I own) with a specific reference to the page in the book (which I read), a website (which I read) and the worldwide largest music database discogs (which I looked up). Thus, my submission is adequately supported by reliable sources which can be verified. I doubt that Johannes Maximilian has read the book and owns a record of this blues pianist, which are in fact quite rare. So here I am, a scientist knowing how to correctly cite and write a Wikipedia article being blocked by someone ignoring the references I provided and declining my submission. Christian Ries (talk) 05:16, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
A passing mention and a blog post are not sufficient to establish notability, Wikipedia requires significant coverage in reliable sources and please assume good faith and quit the personal attacks. Theroadislong (talk) 09:53, 2 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

AfC notification: Draft:Eddie Ware has a new comment

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Eddie Ware. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 09:48, 2 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I added some minor information to the draft and added a new topic to the talk page of the draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft_talk:Eddie_Ware, in hope the article can now be published.
Kind regards, Christian. Christian Ries (talk) 08:27, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid you are mistaken it is NOT Wikipedia's aim to " summarise the entire body of knowledge" we only have articles on topics that are notable. Adding a death certificate and a spam link to purchase his music is not helpful. Theroadislong (talk) 08:48, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Then you should have a look on the definition of what is Wikipedia on de.wikiepdia.org:
"Das Ziel der Wikipedia ist der Aufbau einer Enzyklopädie ..." (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:%C3%9Cber_Wikipedia)
On the same website, please read the definition of an encyclopaedia:
(https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enzyklop%C3%A4die)
Translation: "An encyclopaedia ... is a particularly comprehensive reference work. The term encyclopaedia is intended to indicate comprehensiveness or a wide range of topics. The aim is to summarise all knowledge. The encyclopaedia is therefore an overview of the knowledge of a particular time and a particular cultural area, including its interrelationships through keyword references."
And I didn't post a spam link to purchase his music, but a reference to the CD in case people at Wikipedia might question if the CD I listened to even existed.
Anyway, the original reason for not accepting this article was: "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified."
I guess that Leblanc & Eagle will be amused to have their book labeled as not reliable source by Wikipedia. (Leblanc E. S. & B. L. Eagle, 2013. Blues: A Regional Experience. Praeger Publishers Inc. 628 p. ISBN-13: 978-0274977475.) Christian Ries (talk) 13:50, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
How the German Wikipedia describes an encyclopaedia is totally irrelevant. Having a single source is not enough to warrant an article on a topic. Commercial links are not required, nobody is doubting that he has work on a CD, the problem is lack of significant coverage and that is required in order to pass WP:GNG. You can get other opinions at Wikipedia:Teahouse as you don't value mine. Theroadislong (talk) 15:20, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Eddie Ware

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Eddie Ware requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://fromthevaults-boppinbob.blogspot.com/2023/04/eddie-ware-born-20-april-1931.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
