Speedy deletion nomination of User:ChristianCreditUnion/sandbox

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:ChristianCreditUnion/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Lourdes 04:44, 5 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I also want to make sure that I disclose any compensation that I may receive for my contributions as non-existent as I do not have any monetary benefits or paid compensation for any content that is proposed. Finally, if I were to be unblocked I will contribute through successfully editing Wiki pages along with referenced links. ChristianCreditUnion (talk) 19:38, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

The reason for this username change is due to an error in creating an organization name based on what I am thinking of writing about. I will be more aware of the blocking policy as well as Wiki's policy in creating pages for an organization. Thank you in advance. ChristianCreditUnion (talk) 19:36, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

The content of the encyclopedia is called articles, not pages. If you work for the credit union in any capacity, you are a paid editor, you do not need to be specifically paid to edit or asked to edit. Please tell us in a new request what edits you plan to make as a general contributor now that you know you will not be permitted to, in the short term, edit about your credit union. If editing about your organization is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 20:17, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand that they are called articles and not pages. In this new request, I am detailing my plan to ensure that I contribute by going into other articles and editing them with cited sources and references. My goal here is not to only edit our organization, but to successfully edit other articles within the financial industry - specifically credit unions in Canada.

Decline reason:

You only plan to edit articles for which you have a conflict of interest and show no evidence you have the slightest idea why this is inappropriate or how Wikipedia's WP:COI policy works. You've demonstrated yourself incapable of writing appropriately in this subject area. Yamla (talk) 17:00, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have read the WP:COI policy and I do not see any conflict of interest as it partains "involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships. Any external relationship can trigger a conflict of interest. Someone having a conflict of interest is a description of a situation, not a judgment about that person's opinions, integrity, or good faith." Potentially editing about other credit unions in Canada is in no way conflict of interest as I do not work there or have any relationship with them through monetary or paid contributions. Please clarify what you mean. ChristianCreditUnion (talk) 17:22, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you are willing to commit to editing only articles that are unrelated to your employer (for the short term, at least), then that should satisfy the conditions for an unblock.

Please note that, although you might consider yourself to be a subject-matter expert in the field of credit unions, you must still abide by Wikipedia's core policies of verifiability from reliable sourcing, no original research and neutrality. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 01:02, 22 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

It is a conflict of interest to edit about other credit unions because they are your competitors. Per this explanatory page, "Do not edit or create articles about yourself, your family or friends, your organization, your clients, or your competitors." 331dot (talk) 08:52, 22 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am responding to many of the assumptions of your Wiki admin team that my end goal here is just to edit about our organization and financial institution. I continue to repeat myself that I will not edit any organizations that Wikipedia considers as conflict of interest including competitors as suggested by your unfriendly Admin named Yamla and 331dot. I will contribute by editing Wiki articles successfully through Wiki's core policies of verifiability, reliable sourcing, and neutrality.

Accept reason:

I have renamed and unblocked you per below, on the condition that you do not edit any mainspace pages regarding topics with which you have a conflict of interest. In other words, if you wish to make COI edits to articles, you must use the edit request process, and if you wish to write a new article with a COI, you must use the Articles for Creation process. I will note also that I am not thrilled about the "unfriendly" comment here. It's not preventing me from unblocking because it's not quite incivil, but it really wasn't a polite thing to say, and I hope you'll consider your words more carefully in the future. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 07:58, 3 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
If unblocked, what articles would you be interested in editing? Z1720 (talk) 15:33, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
If unblocked, I would be interested in editing articles that are recommended by Wikipedia for starters and beginners, and articles related to Canadian history and nature. ChristianCreditUnion (talk) 20:48, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I removed your last unblock request, because you already have an unreviewed unblock request, and your request from August 31 merely repeated your comment above from August 14. You should only have one open unblock request at a time; additional requests will not get your case reviewed any faster. I realize this might seem like a long wait, but there is a long queue of unblock requests for the volunteer admins to review; they are publicly listed at CAT:UNB. Your request may take several weeks before it is seen; there is nothing left for you to do except patiently wait your turn. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:37, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely. No issues. Thanks Tamzin. Lourdes 05:05, 3 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
