Hormonology edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Hormonology, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the relevant issues at Talk:Hormonology. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. As I see it, you have two options for this article.
  1. You can start a rewrite of it, as I suggested on the talk page, trying to produce a first paragraph which concisely explains what hormonology is, similar to the first few paragraphs of endocrinology, which explain what hormonology is. You can include an "external links" section which includes the two references you already have. Then go to the Afd page, and explain there that you've rewritten the article and would like existing voters to reconsider the matter. This is what the prod tag was asking you to do in the first place.
  2. If you don't think you can do the subject matter justice, then wait until the article has been deleted (or even go to the Afd page and explain you want the existing article removed), and then request an article on the subject by going to Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Natural_Sciences#Biology and adding the request to the appropriate subsection. You could also add a note to Talk:endocrinology, where you are likely to find people who are knowledgable about the subject matter, asking someone to consider starting the article and including your links so they can see what you are talking about. Unfortunately, it seems there are some non-scientific uses of the term "hormonology" and you probably don't want to be mixed up with the people who do "hormonology horoscopes". The talk page will give you the opportunity to explain what you want.
I hope that helps.-gadfium 03:23, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
