Australian States edit

You recently added a link to every Australian state. Can you please direct me to the talk page where this mod was discussed. --Gaz 03:06, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't realise that was necessary. I generally make amendments to the page and then if anybody objects sort it out afterwards. If you've got a problem with it feel free to remove it. - Chrism 17:32, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Normally each user just edits articles as they see fit, and thats OK. It seems that you are constructing a number if these Msg boxes, for areas other than Australia as well. I just don't know that I like the look of them. I am a bit of a purist for having links through the text and separate articles for each concept. The article I first noticed your Msg box on was Queensland (my home state), and I believe that the article should describe Qld. There is a separate article to list all the Aust states and territories. At present (apart from your Msg block) there is no direct link from Qld to the list of States and Territories. I will rectify this soon.

I guess that I am saying that your Msg block is "overloading" the Qld article with content that rightly deserves (and has) its own article. There are many here that will argue that your Msg block provides a "one click" link between the States. I believe that the "overloading" is too high a price to pay for this "one click" convenience. My dislike for the Msg block is great enough to spur me into removing it. I would like the opinion of others so I will raise the matter on the Qld talk page.

A question. Would you add a Msg block containing all 50 US states in the articles of all these 50 states? - - Gaz 14:08, 19 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Somebody already has it appears. - Chrism 18:44, 20 Feb 2004 (UTC).

Life sucks. I checked a couple of the US state artcles before I raised my question, and found no Msg blocks. I go back a day later and...
My objection still stands. It just appears you have an accomplice. :-(
Please continue editting as you see fit. I will take my objection elsewhere. --Gaz 06:56, 21 Feb 2004 (UTC)

India edit

Hate to bother you , but could you take out the Category reference for "States and territories of India" , (Category:States and territories of India ). You show up as a state or terriotary of India :) Alren 19:33, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I'm not actually sure why I am showing up, I certainly haven't added a category tag to my user page and I can't see one. - Chrism 20:32, Oct 13, 2004 (UTC)

I think it is the India template which is forcing it to show up. Alren 21:07, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Sorry about mucking around with your user page, but you were showing up as a Region of France. --Tkinias 11:50, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing edit

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Commonwealth edit

I see you suggested adding the "Commonwealth of Nations" template to all the Commonwealth countries back in 2004 - in fact you may actually have done so. What happened? I ask because I was thinking of doing the same, but then wondered why they aren't there, seeing as there is a perfectly good template. Ringbark 19:19, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your user page edit

I know it's bad form to edit someone else's user page, but I had to get rid of the apostrophe abuse on it. You like reading, you say: perhaps you should try Lynne Truss's Eats, Shoots and Leaves ;-) 86.133.246.184 21:05, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

How are you Chrism? I have a question and I was wondering if you could me figure something out. I wrote an article about a WW I hero, Marcelino Serna. Now according to my research he was awarded the "British Medal of Honor". I know that something must be wrong because I can not find any reference to such an award. The question is: was there a British Medal of Honor? If not, then what is the highest military decoration that the British government would bestow upon an American soldier during that conflict? Cheers, Tony the Marine (talk) 22:47, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

 • Thank you for your response. I also believe that it must have been the Military Medal. Take a look at the "Military decorations and awards" section in Marcelino Serna's article and tell me if you agree with the notation taht I made. Tony the Marine (talk) 21:35, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
