Hi Chris!

Could you please rename your "email to mdoege@compuserve.com" subpage to something else? Apparently a few people are getting the idea that this is your email address, so I am getting their comments that refer to your edits. The title of the subpage is a little misleading, apparently. Below are some of the emails I got. I remember there were a few more, all of them negative I think ("Why did you delete X?"), always referring to articles I had never touched. But I guess I just deleted them, thinking they were some strange new kind of spam. Hi.. i noticed it says you removed my comment below on Galax in wikipedia I do not believe it is native to Massachusetts or New York. I believe its northernmost native state is Virginia. Thanks for uploading Image:Mv-doulos-at-southampton.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. Thank you for your thanks, even if they are just slightly belated (I uploaded this file nearly three years ago, in November 2004). If you had checked the history, you would have seen that the image was perfectly properly licensed as my own work.

Unfortunately since then another editor has transferred the image to Commons (which I don't think existed in 2004). That is a perfectly good thing to do, but in adding the NowCommons template, he or she removed the image description and license information. Ok, thanks. Of course the template "GFDL-self" is newer (January 2005) than the image upload (November 2004) so it is hardly surprising it wasn't applied at the time. I don't think there is any rule that info cannot be sourced from a timetable. Certainly WP isn't a timetable, and what I'm trying to do on this section is give the reader a feel for the sort of service Par gets (perfectly good encyclopedic content) rather than tell him what time to turn up for a train (which would be a timetable). It is quite a fine line, and I'm still pondering myself whether there is not a tad too much detail in what I've written. -- Chris j wood 20:10, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Its funny it just i got told off once for citing something from a timetable but that was my early days and i suppose it could have instead come under WP:POINT. Freemantle

Hi Chris, I'm not entirely sure why you've moved Freemantle to Freemantle, Southampton - the "..., Southampton" disambiguation isn't necessary as there are no other articles called Freemantle (the Australian city only has one E). Am I missing something? -- Waggers 13:18, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Nothing except my request at WP:RM to move it back. List of funiculars

Apologies for giving you more work to do in List of funiculars! I was trying to answer a question on the Talk:Cable railway page, specifically looking for those with only one car. (I had re-skimmed the Shire Albums book, mentioned as a ref in this article, and it was fresh in my mind...) As I hunted them down, links started appearing, so, rather than 'waste' them I dropped them in the article. I didn't have time for 'polish', sorry.

You may be interested to know that the two sites in 'external links' cover an awful lot of the UK funiculars (including some not listed on WP.) You may also be dismayed to hear that there is an alternative meaning for "cliff lift", as here, which features two such lifts. (Others, such as Babbacombe, are, of course funicular railways really.) Haven't looked to see if this term is covered elsewhere on WP, but their existence was news to me!.

You're right, Dr Mark Hows also lists these on his funiculars index page (didn't scroll down far enough!)

Dab header on Hythe Pier, Railway and Ferry

Merely an attempt to help get people to the right place! A frequent search term on the website of the RHDR in Kent is "Hythe railway". The same search term in a Wikipedia search box does not direct to the RHDR article, but rather to the Hythe pier article. Not very surprising really; I grew up in Hythe (Kent) and have a lifetime's experience of the confusion caused by several places (in different counties) sharing that same place name. In the current context, all have railways and railway stations, making confusion all the more possible. However, don't worry about it; if you don't like the dab, I'm not bothered. Fact Templates on London Heathrow Airport Destinations

I should point out that I was in fact not citing Wikiproject Airports as a reason for my removal of your request for citations but as a reason for correcting date formats, and by putting the ellipsis in you changed the meaning of my edit comment. My objection stems from the fact that it is quite simple, in my opinion, by going to various airline/airport websites and other travel-ish sites on the internet, to varify the information on here and that Wikiproject Airport members are constantly fact-checking the destinations as they are added. If you wish to add the template again I will not remove it, however I look it as being almost an insult to the work put in by members like me, who verify destinations as they are added. I suggested adding fact templates to individual destinations because I assumed there were a few you were very uncertain about, but it seems you have different motivations for your desire to add the templates. Chris,

I'm only going on what the signage says at the station itself. If ATOC see things otherwise then Occam's razor suggests they have it wrong. Why go to all that trouble to make incorrect signage, not only on the FCC (Thameslink) platforms, but all around the station? Not being a Midland fare-paying passenger, I haven't checked out the four Midland platforms from beyond the ticket barriers, but I presume the signage is similar to the Eurostar platforms, which are visible from the champagne bar/concourse sections of the station. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 12:45, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

This warning was bogus. Adding a reference and mentioning that a building is a Grade II listed building is not vandalism. It's clearly a constructive and valuable edit.
