The information provided on http://ukcaving.com/wiki/index.php/New_Goyden_Pot. is my contribution I have provided all the information on that wiki for Nidderdale caves and so copied over the descriptions. I will have a look at how to donate it as indicated, may need help new to all this Chris Fox (Goydenman) (talk) 17:40, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
The source is my material on the UK Caving site. I did write on each of the UK caving pages that I contributed "The text of this page is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts)." on each page but got into trouble they pointed out that there is a (a GNU FDL icon)on the bottom of each page and that should suffice. Si I removed the text.

Wikipedia is not a guide edit
Apart from copyright issues, the content of articles you have recently created is not suitable for Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a manual or travel guide, and such content as "Parking is at the farm or on the road. Follow the Nidderdale way from the farm up the valley", "Presently permission for access has been granted by Mr Harker of Thrope Farm, no need to call", and so on, does not belong in a Wikipedia article. Whether this kind of content is suitable for the ukcaving wiki I have no idea, but it is not in line with Wikipedia's style. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:24, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Re: 'Travel guide' information. The first thing is I was willing to remove it but you did not give me the chance before deleting the pages. The second is that you failed to get more information - those instructions are in line with national and local agreements and if people do not park/approach the caves using the information whether for research or sport then access will be denied by the farmers.
Contrary to your profile on yourself I have not found you helpful or supportive as a new person doing this. Literally as I was removing the parking/approach to the cave details and you deleted the page before I had even finished doing it. Am a person not worth your time to help? - Looking at the editing history of the article "New Goyden Pot" in the ukcaving wiki, I see that the wording you refer to about the Creative Commons license was shown from 19:08 on 9 July to 09:38 on 12 July. It was long since gone by 20 July, when I deleted the corresponding Wikipedia article. With the best will, I really don't think it is reasonable to expect a Wikipedia administrator to search all through the history of a page on another wiki to see if suitable copyright permission had ever been shown and then removed. I don't know who told you that "this was not required", but content you post to Wikipedia is released under a Creative Commons SA license, and the GNU FDL does not fully cover the provisions of that, so such a license is not good enough for content which is to be used on Wikipedia.
- I'm afraid I failed to make the point about Wikipedia not being a guide as clearly as I intended. Whether or not "instructions are in line with national and local agreements", the point is that Wikipedia articles do not contain instructions to readers or guide-like information about how to proceed when visiting places. If you put such information as I quoted above into articles, or "Follow the stream from either the Main Entrance or...", "Note the water coming in from your left...", etc, then it is likely to be removed. I told you this in order to help you to avoid spending your time on writing content which was doomed from the start to almost certainly be removed.
- I am sorry that you "have not found [me] helpful or supportive", and that you suggest that I don't regard you as "a person not worth [my] time to help". I found an article you had written was tagged as a copyright infringement. On investigation I found that some other articles suffered from the same problem. I could very easily have simply deleted them and moved on: I was under no obligation to do anything else. Instead, I chose to spend a little of my time composing and writing a message for you about why some of the content would probably be regarded as unsuitable for a Wikipedia article. The reason that I chose to spend my time doing that was that I thought it would help you in the future to write articles in a form that would be accepted. I am sincerely sorry that my time and effort was wasted, and that you regard my message as unhelpful. I have spent significantly more time writing this message, and I do hope you will find this one helpful.
- I have restored the articles, and "userfied them at User:Chris Fox (Goydenman)/New Goyden and User:Chris Fox (Goydenman)/New Goyden pot. You can edit them there and move them back into main article space when they are ready. (At the right hand end of the row of tabs at the top of the page there is a link labelled "Move". If you can't see it, point your mouse at the little downward pointing triangle.) For the article that, immediately before deletion, contained a copyright infringement notice, I have removed that notice and given an edit summary with a link to the past version of the ukcaving wiki page containing the CC by SA licensing information.
