Hi ChrisTheDude

Re your comments on my 'Digital Marketing Strategy of Manchester United', would you be able to give me some suggestions as to how this article could be improved to your standards?

Benterry101 (talk) 16:25, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Benterry101: - you'd have to be able to demonstrate that there is something especially noteworthy about Man U's digital strategy that separates it from that utilised by other big brands, and more importantly you would need to demonstrate that Man U's digital strategy (not the general concept of football clubs' digital marketing, but Man U's in particular) has been the subject of in-depth coverage in reliable independent third-party source, per WP:GNG..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:39, 11 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

File:Archie Roe.jpg needs authorship information edit

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Archie Roe.jpg appears to be missing information as to one (or more) of the following :

  1. The author or creators of the work, (including information as to the author's lifespan).
  2. Where and how this particular version was obtained.
  3. When the work was created,

If you did provide such information, it is currently confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|ChrisTheDude/Archive 22}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.

Please also add authorship and sourcing to other files you created or uplopaded. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 20:08, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Tommy Caldwell edit

Hi, I'm just creating an article for Caldwell and could do with a cite for the New Brompton stats if that's OK? The list of Gillingham F.C. players has him with 5 goals in 56 appearances over two seasons (1912–1914), which appears to be referenced from The Definitive Gillingham F.C.: A Complete Record (ISBN 1-899468-20-X). Could you confirm that and let me know the page number if possible? Many thanks, Nzd (talk) 18:55, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

A basic article is up now so you're welcome to do what you like with it. I've left the New Brompton/Gillingham stats commented out. His tenure appears to be around the time of the rename - Joyce lists the club as New Brompton but you may want to expand on that if you have other sources. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 20:18, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, I will take a gander tonight. For info, the club played under the new name in the 1912-13 season but didn't officially change it name until the summer of 1913..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:18, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Category:Number-one singles in Romania edit

Hi there! I'm writing this message to you because you seem to be an administrator, so you have been granted the ability to perform special actions on pages. I have recently cleaned up this, this and this page with reliable sources. These pages list all number ones on the Romanian national charts: the Romanian Top 100 (2000s–February 2012) and the Airplay 100 (February 2012 to present). However, as I edited the pages, there were several claimed number ones that I could not find a reference for and had to remove them. Those number ones are also listed in the above named category, which is completely wrong. I just wanted to ask you if there is any way that you can remove all pages from the category so I can add again all citeable number ones? Once you did that, I could also split up the category in singles that reached number one on the Romanian Top 100 and on the Airplay 100. Thanks in advance and have a nice day!   Best; Cartoon network freak (talk) 13:44, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Abel Lee edit

Hi Chris, I was wondering if you could help. I'm doing a list of Captains of Grimsby Town and when it comes to 'Chopper' Abel Lee who played for New Brompton (Gillingham), it states on Wikipedia that he joined them in 1909? However, according to the book I have The Grimsby Town Story 1878–2008 it has records of him playing for Grimsby Town in the 1910/11 season and Abel Lee also appears on the squad photos and states he moved to New Brompton (Gillingham) in the 1911/12 season.

I noticed you created the article, any chance you can check your books to see what dates it says in there? Thanks --Nelly GTFC (talk) 22:11, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've seen a couple of suggestions on the Kempster forum that they've either been renamed or absorbed by Lane Head, who have appeared in Division Two of the Midland League, playing at the same ground. Ernie Watts edit

Hi Chris, just taking a look at the Ernie Watts article, I noticed that the full name doesn't match the entry in the 2012 ed of Joyce's book (which has 'Ernest Arthur Watts'). Do you know if your source for 'Albert Ernest Watts' was Joyce 2004 or the Gillingham book? (if it was Joyce, I'll change it and update the ref). Thanks, Nzd (talk) 12:47, 14 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Nzd: - Joyce 2004 has "Albert Ernest". The Gillingham book only shows initials for players who played for the Gills when they were a non-League team and that has "E.A. Watts". Sounds like Ernest Arthur is correct and the earlier edition of Joyce had an error (or info which was thought correct at the time but subsequently revised) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 13:32, 14 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@MWRef92: my gut feeling is that these seem like competitions which are too minor to meet notability requirements for WP - the fact that as far as I can see Hornsea Town Reserves play in the Tanton Cup suggests this. I'd hate to see you put in effort only for the articles to get put up for deletion. Do these competitions get much (any) media coverage? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:26, 26 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I see from the page history that it has been going on for two months tomorrow which already seems like a long time. Question about alphabetical order edit

Hey, just a little question about List of Slovenia international footballers – how are the players sorted if their name starts with a non-English letter, like Č, Š or Ž? Is it standard English where the letters would be sorted as C, S and Z, or should I use the Slovenian order, where Č is behind C?

Example 1 (how it would be sorted in English if Č=C):

  • Aleš Čeh
  • Nastja Čeh
  • Boštjan Cesar

or Example 2 (how it is correctly sorted in Slovenian language):

  • Boštjan Cesar
  • Aleš Čeh
  • Nastja Čeh

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular) edit

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
