Birmingham Charity Cup edit

Hi there Chris, hope you're well. I've just created a rather stubby Birmingham Charity Cup and wondered if you had any info to add to it... it seemed like an article that might be in your idiom. The info I have is limited and heavily slanted towards one club but hopefully it can be balanced up... cheers --Jameboy (talk) 21:38, 1 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I restarted this nomination because the consensus was unclear. Could you ensure that your concerns have been resolved, and if possible, add your opinion on whether the list should be promoted to FL (i.e. Support, Oppose, or Neutral)? Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 23:32, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

DYK nomination of Birmingham Charity Cup edit

Hello! Your submission of Birmingham Charity Cup at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Storye book (talk) 08:24, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I adjusted the assessment. This is my first week of DYK reviews so I'm trying to be careful. I have let an administrator know what I have reviewed, so they can check my work. I recently had a couple of my own DYK hooks refused as they had offline citations, and I was told that there had been a recent tightening of rules. I had to find an online version of the books concerned, before the citations were accepted. Personally I support your hook and ref, and I hope it's accepted by admin.--Storye book (talk) 10:16, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

The image you uploaded here as File:KeysPark.jpg is now on the Commons. You gave the source as Geonum 194376 but that image is: right place but totally different image. The one you uploaded does not appear to be on Geograph so can you please add proper source, author and licence details? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:33, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

York League Teams edit

Hey CTD, I saw your tags and i'm wondering if you're right and it'd be better to just have those teams in a table on the York League page rather than giving them their individual pages. Doc Quintana (talk) 01:09, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

FA Amateur Cup edit

Hello. Don't suppose you still have access to the book (Samuel, Richard (2003). The Complete F.A. Amateur Cup Results Book) you used for your List of FA Amateur Cup winners? Reason I ask is, FCHD only covers it from the quarter-finals onwards in the early years, so List of Darlington F.C. seasons is missing the rounds for seasons when they didn't get as far as the QF. If you have still got access to it, I wonder if you might be prevailed upon to fill in the blanks: they turned pro in 1908 so there aren't too many... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:55, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Like Birmingham City F.C. A Complete Record, then: complete coverage, but only of what the author chose to include... thanks, Struway2 (talk) 16:13, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

== Louth Old Boys J.F.C.

Valid point about them not playing in a notable league. I just thought i'd add them in as they are my local team and i play for them, but I do see your point, and i have no objections to its deletion :) thank you Brock 009 (talk) 20:07, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

please please PLEASE make the M.I.A. article a featured article. I know it's already been written really well - there's still so much on her legacy, influence that isnt in there! Wolstenholme edit

Hi there, do any of your Gillingham books have information about Arthur Wolstenholme (matches/goals, date of debut, etc.) who played for New Brompton between 1912 and 1913? I just created the article, but couldn't find some of this out, so it would be much appreciated if you could add it to the page. Cheers, BigDom 10:14, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for that. Cheers, BigDom 08:11, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Barcelona edit

Suggest abbreviating Camp. de Cat. further in the professional era part, to Camp.Cat. or something. At my resolution it's wrapping to 2 lines and making the rest of the row very tall indeed. I would say keep up the good work, but I don't really want a clip round the ear..... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:53, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

On sourcing La Liga seasons, I think I'd probably be OK with having the LFP league tables section as a single source, as Sandman suggests, with an explanatory note of how to get the final league table for each season, something to the effect of "Final tables for other seasons accessible via search button; select Matchday as number of games played that season, from Played column in list". I know it's more of a pain than going directly to the RSSSF league tables, but once the reader actually finds the table, it is directly verifiable, and obviously neater visually than the strings of RSSSF links at the top and LFP links at the bottom. Thoughts? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:08, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sunday edit

It's actually quite satisfying that the only way they could beat us was through a dodgy penalty after Friedel played the game of his life. Think Stevie Carr sums it up quite neatly in the picture :-) though it's not entirely surprising he and Johnson are now in trouble. Good luck to your lot for the run-in, looks a bit twitchy still... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:23, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Blackburn Olympic F.C. edit

Hi ChrisTheDude, I'm an editor on es:wikipedia and I have some questions about this article. I translated it for a contest and now it's been judged as a featured article there and some editors asked me some questions about some phrases. I copy them here:

Formation and early years
  • The name was chosen by James Edmondson, the club's first treasurer, and is believed to have been inspired by the recent excavation of Olympia, site of the ancient Olympic Games. It's referenced by Phythian, p. 7?
Decline and colapse
  • In 1886 the club's committee was forced to reduce the players' wages to a quarter of what was being offered by Preston North End. Why it is comparing with the PNE? It's because some players went to play there?
Rivalries
  • The rivalry became especially fierce in September 1884, when, amid accusations that the clubs were using underhand tactics in attempts to "poach" each others' star players, the Rovers' secretary sent a telegram to his opposite number stating that his club would play no matches against Olympic in the 1884–85 season. It's referenced by Phythian, pp. 63-66?

Well, this is all. Best regards and thanks for your answer,   Agustín Any question? es-wiki 03:57, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your answer! I'll ring a bell if I have any other doubt. Regards,   Agustín Any question? es-wiki 21:01, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of FC Barcelona managers edit

Hi Chris,

I'm writing because you might have some valuable input. I'm thinking of re-writing above article, so all the stats only include those from La Liga, which is the only data I can find. I've tried to get the contributer of the current stats to reveal his source(s), but he doesnt answer. In the pre-La Liga era I'm thinking of also including stats from the Cat.Champ, but should I then include these up til Cat.Champ ends or do you think a cut-off at 1929 would be acceptable if a note is appended? That way the two tables wd only contain information from one competition, making comparisons amongst managers more valid. Cheers. Sandman888 (talk) 07:19, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Generous with your time... edit

...aren't you?! Just a thought, would you fancy hacking into FA Women's Cup to get to FL with me? I'm not sure, but I'd bet we don't have a single women's football featured anything, so why not? And the FA are generous enough to provide with a backup primary source should we fail to pick any other refs up here. Let me know what you think. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:10, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

FA sounds even more exciting. Yeah, I was just looking at an expansive list but heck, if you think we can do it (and you know of material to do it too) then why not. As for my lovely notice, edit your own talkpage from the top, and you'll see two redlinks on the top right, a Group notice and a Page notice. Just edit your Page notice, it'll tell people how to behave once you're ready!! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:02, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Chris, please can you let me know in whose opinion that the East Anglian Cup is not a notable competition? With such names on the trophy as Norwich, Ipswich and Tottenham?

Your comments would be much appreciated as I wish you to add back the entry on the Tilbury FC wiki page. Please can you reply to my email below.
