Hi there, I got a note that my entry on the NZARP had been deleted due to copyright violation. Although I indeed used the website noted as a source: http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/politics/antarctica-and-nz/timeline, I felt that I had rewritten it in my own words. Is there a way to get back what I had written so I can have another go at it? I've copied the above talk from my page to your page to keep it all in one place. Yes, I saw that you are a new editor and it's a real pain when your work gets deleted. I'm sorry for that. Whole passages were almost identical, hence I put it up for deletion. Only admins can delete pages and it was gone within minutes. I suspect that given that it's been a clear copyvio, you won't get it back. You could enquire with any admin, and a NZ admin that I'm aware of is Gadfium, but don't hold out high hopes. The best thing to do when you are new is to write articles in your user space (i.e. your space, which is not private, but you can do there whatever you want) and have somebody with a bit more experience coach you. Once it's ready, it can then be moved into what is called article space (i.e. where all the articles are, and where people searching for articles can find them). I've put a redlink onto your user page that will create the article in your user space (the trick is the leading forward slash). Just click on it, and get under way. When you want help, I'd say the best place to ask is WT:NZ.

And when you communicate with others through talk pages, you sign your talk with four tildes ~~~~. That produces your signature and a date. I hope this is helpful. If you wish to reply, please do so here, as I'm 'watching' your talk page now. Schwede66 01:39, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I fixed the date format so it's all consistent now (using Euro format). I see you added some info to the WP:LEAD. You know this subject much better than me, but I want to point out that it is good to keep the Lead as concise as possible, and I am worried that it is getting too long. See what you think. Hi there, thanks for doing that with the dates and for the tip about the lead. I tried to tighten up what is there though it's still probably about the same length ultimately. I was adding things to clarify the chronology and to correct apparent non sequiturs; the good news is at this point it's pretty well mapped out and I don't expect that there is any more new info that will need to be added to the lead.Choozy78 (talk) 01:07, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

I think the lead is quite good now. Well done! The most obvious problem with the article now is that it still needs about a dozen more citations. But I have not read it closely (frankly this is not at all my area of expertise - I was an English major), and I am sure you can improve the prose and clarify what is there. The article is down to about half a dozen "citation needed" tags, and it has over 100 footnotes, which is a huge improvement over how it looked on December 22, when it had only 9 footnotes! -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:51, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Just a quick note: When you changed the order of the two sentences, you left the last sentence unreferenced. If it's the same reference, then you can just move the ref to the end of the paragraph. If not, you need another ref for the last sentence. But, in any case, the last sentence is vague. Who called for who to intervene? All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:13, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
