Spam in User:Chicago Music Exchange edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on User:Chicago Music Exchange, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because User:Chicago Music Exchange is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting User:Chicago Music Exchange, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from User:Chicago Music Exchange, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's [[Talk:User:Chicago Music Exchange|talk page]]. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Peridon (talk) 23:21, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and forbidden by policies, and also violates our username policy.

However, if you feel that there has been a mistake in your blocking, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or email the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Please check that your new username has not already been taken by checking this list. Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 00:28, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I would like to admit that I do work at Chicago Music Exchange, but I did not know the User name must be different than the company name. I would like to change the user name to my own personal name. This is my first attempt at writing a wikipedia page and after reading the 10,000 pages that are tagged in order to get an idea of what I had to do, I began my work on creating a page that lays down both the history of the store, but also a history of the man who began his life's work purchasing, repairing, and selling vintage musical equipment. With that said, I would like to direct you to sites which I was basing my idea for creating a page for Chicago Music Exchange on. There are numerous Wikipedia pages for chain stores and small shops specializing in guitar sales. Such as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCabe%27s_Guitar_Shop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Guitars http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Center http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gruhn_Guitars After viewing these pages, I began my work on a page for Chicago's premier authority on vintage instruments. I was also under the impression due to regulations behind wikipedia that there would be more of an open communication regarding the creation of an initial page for wikipedia, not a swift and uncompromising deletion and blocking of further creation. Please unblock my user account, allow me to change the user name to my own, and begin creation of the encyclopedic history and information concerning this store doubling as a 16,000 square foot gallery of irreplaceable music history. Sincerely, Daniel Demchuk

Decline reason:

Part of the reason for your block was the fact you had a high conflict of interest--and given that you openly admit to this, I'm not willing to unblock.— Blueboy96 23:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
