Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

I'm new to Wikipedia, I just now realized the issues around conflict of interest (So far I was looking at my actions merely from content point of view and considered those rules). My intention was/is to contribute to Wikipedia in the parts relating to chess play style and chess player biographies. I have a personal, hobby-type website (chess-db.com) which relates to those topics, thus I have to admit that conflict of interest is present. The only thing I can do is to do my best to act within the already established rules in such case. I don't know if I can bring up more arguments now, as I just started, so the only thing I can point you to beyond the ten external links I added which were reverted (reason - seen as spam, discussed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:91.17.176.197) is this talk page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Draw_(chess): Here seemingly senior member has commented that the information I linked is "something he was looking for for years". My intention is to contribute to enriching Wikipedia not just by pointing out people to useful information from my website (Thou I have nothing better yet from the few last days to show as example or prove this). P.S. Regarding the selection of my user name, this has been another one of my misunderstanding/confusion with the rules: While browsing Wikipedia pages and learning about the rules and practices I went over another user (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tommyjb/Chess_Tempo), having also a website similar to those topics but has used his website name as part of his username, thus I did not realized this is seen against the rules. In fact I'm still somewhat confused here: I've read that I'm expected to make it transparent to the community that I'm representing a 3rd party website / conflict of interest is present but my chosen username was blocked as it was seen as promotion of this website. I will do my best to understand the expectation here and in case I get stuck I will seek help from the admin who was supporting me so far to get acquainted with Wikipedia rules and expectations.
