more info: several newspapera mention of the man; in the Fort Mill Times (1/21/09), brief mention in the Associated Press which was reproduced in several newspapers. http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Taking-The-Fifth.html mentions that he had to fight petition signature challenges, participated in a candidates' debate and opposes privatization of Midway Airport.

Carlos Alberto Monteagudo is an American physician and founder of the SEED charitable organization.

Early life and education

Monteagudo was a refugee from Cuba who came to the United States as a child.[1] He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1987. He completed a residency in Psychiatry at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School[2] in 1991.[3][4]

Career

Monteagudo was a Fellow of the Kellogg National Leadership Program in 1997.[5] He is a co-founder of SEED (Solutions for Economic Empowerment and Dignity), a non-profit organization [6][7] which uses the public sector to improve aspects of the local community.[8] He left SEED in 2008.[9]

Political office

Monteagudo is a candidate for the Democratic Party primary for the vacant 5th Congressional District of Illinois seat.[10][11] The vacancy occured with the appointment of then-Congressman Rahm Emmanuel to become the Chief of Staff for the U.S. president.
