Your edits at Keystroke logging

edit

[1] [2] Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia, as you did in Keystroke logging. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. Luna Santin 10:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, there; I do prefer to assume good faith whenever possible, and I'm generally open to discussing my actions, especially when the discussion remains civil. While I am relatively more experienced at Wikipedia, I'll try to avoid using that to "win," since ultimately I think it's better if we both agree -- we're both working towards the best Wikipedia possible, so it's just that we disagree about how to do that. It would be prudent for me to point out that I have the article watchlisted because another pretty new user pointed out to me, maybe a week or two ago, that it's a frequent target of persistent linkspam (not accusing, just stating for the record). The general rule at the external links guideline is that links to commercial websites should usually be avoided; I do suggest you familiarize yourself with that page, at least briefly. My impression is that the primary purpose of wiretappro.com is to sell products, not to provide an unbiased reference -- if that makes sense? And, while I would normally be happy to check the other link you mentioned, it's not loading for me, right now; if it is commercial, feel free to remove it. :) If you have anything else to bring up, I'm all ears. Regards, Luna Santin 10:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I can't promise that other editors won't remove it, but for the time being I'm not going to touch it. Thanks for being so willing to discuss your edits. Luna Santin 22:36, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I brought this issue up on the article talk page. I see your point, but I think probably should be removed as a "better safe than sorry" adherence to policy. I didn't see until just now that this was your first edit. Now I feel bad... don't be frightened away! I totally see your point with this... Try doing some really non-controversial edits first, like some copy-editing or blanking spam. It's much easier :) --Jaysweet 22:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please see Talk:Keystroke logging#External link that is example of keystroke logger. Thanks. Luna Santin 05:40, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid I must respectfully insist that you join the discussion -- at this point, you're reverting against consensus without explaining yourself. Please reconsider. Luna Santin 06:04, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, very much. :) You wrote quite a bit, I've got to get to bed, but I will be reading over that ASAP. I'm sorry to give you so much trouble over this; most edits really don't cause this much discussion, honest. Luna Santin 08:03, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

CheezyD -- we are going to try one more time for consensus. Please, if you would, weigh in one more time at this section of the talk page. I would appreciate it! Thanks! --Jaysweet 05:05, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Keystroke logging (October 2006)

edit

Hi there.. you've gone ahead and started adding commercial links to the Keystroke logging page without commenting on the talk page re: the change I made - I've reverted your change because I believe that linking to an impartial site with plenty of keystroke loggers listed (and reviewed) on it is in the best interests of the article; if you disagree with this would you discuss it on the Talk:Keystroke logging page, please, rather than enter into a revert war which is only going to end up with tears? Thanks! njan 20:50, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Keystroke logging. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites that you are affiliated with, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. njan 23:34, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
