Proposed deletion of Jessica M. Thompson

edit

Hello, Charissawest. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Jessica M. Thompson, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Jessica M. Thompson to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks,

Possible conflict of interest/promotional editing

edit

  Hello, Charissawest. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Jessica M. Thompson, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 09:40, 18 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Editing while logged out

edit

  Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to Jessica M. Thompson while logged out. Making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 12:23, 18 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Melcous,

I am not employed by The Light of the Moon film. I am an unpaid volunteer.

I will see if I can figure out how to ask volunteers to make the edits.

Are you a volunteer I can ask to make the edits?

Thank you kindly.

Hi Charissa, thanks for your message on my talk page and for explaining the situation. Because you are part of the film's social media team, you have a conflict of interest and so should take some time to familiarise yourself with wikipedia's guidelines on that. As you said, the advice is to make suggestions for editing the article on the talk page rather than editing the article yourself. The direct link to the talk page is Talk:Jessica M. Thompson. The main issues at this stage are that it reads like a promotional piece whereas this is an encyclopedia so all content needs to be written from a neutral point of view and sourced to reliable, independent sources (so not, for example, wikipedia, IMDb, blogs, or things written by people connected with them film). I will have another go at editing the article and then please let me know here or on the article talk page if there are things you think should be change and explain why. Thanks, Melcous (talk) 21:46, 19 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Charissa, I have gone ahead and added a "connected contributor" template to the talk page and therefore removed the conflict of interest template from the article. Let me know if you have any questions about that. (You can reply here as I am now 'watching' this page.) Cheers, Melcous (talk) 22:03, 19 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
