2012 AFC Champions League

Do you think this is worth noting?

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has decided to grant the provisional measures requested by the Indonesian Football Club Persipura Jayapura and to order the reinstatement of the club in the AFC Champions League 2012.

Persipura was supposed to play the 2012 AFC Champions League Playoffs (East-Zone) on 11 February 2012 against Adelaïde United FC (Australia). At the end of November 2011, the Indonesian FA (PSSI) decided to remove Persipura from the AFC Champions League for disciplinary reasons and requested the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to replace the club with Persija Jakarta. The AFC noted the removal of Persipura but did not accept the participation of Persija Jakarta. As a consequence, Adelaïde United FC was exempted from the playoff match and was granted direct access to the group stage of the competition (first match to be played on 6 March 2012).

On the basis of the CAS decision on request for provisional measures, Persipura Jayapura will be entitled to play the playoff match versus Adelaïde United FC. In case of qualification, the status of Persipura would have to be determined by the CAS after examination of the arguments of the parties (i.e. Persipura, PSSI, AFC and Adelaïde United FC) on the merits of this case.

Football

Hello Chanheigeorge, I have seen you are very keen on AFC Asian Football.

I would like to invite you on another project, in which I would really like to have you in, to help with the AFC Champions League 2012 thread (apart from everything else you want, we follow every single event and we are focused on all Olyympic disciplines).

The project is still pretty young and we need some help at least with the AFC Champions League 2012 thread to have updated results and standings.

You don't need much time to take part and I would give you all the help you need in the first period.

Would you like to have more informations about that ?

Thank you very much!

Uefa Europa League

Hi there. Noticed your edit to the 2011 Tippeligaen table template, which puts Tromsø in 2QL. I changed Tromsø to 1QL some time ago, after reading a preliminary access list. Is the access list for UEFA announced yet? Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 19:28, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Finnish League and Cup articles

Hi Chanheigeorge. I am making contact with those Editors that take an active interest in Finnish football on English Wikipedia.

For a long time I have been happy to work on Finnish football on Wikipedia without making contact with other Finnish football enthusiasts - basically I like preparing articles / undertaking tasks that interest me and contact with others has not been important. However recently some of my work was changed by a Wikipedia Reviewer and this has led me to question what approach I should be following and indeed what approach would other Finnish football enthusiasts wish to adopt?

The current issue I face is the naming of Finnish Football League and Cup pages. I have adopted the approach that we should always be using the Finnish name in the title, for example 2007 Ykkönen and 2001 Veikkausliiga. However, I am aware that words like Mestaruussarja mean very little to most English speaking Wikipedia users. I therefore have included the English name in the title as well in recent pages, for example, 1936 Mestaruussarja – Finnish League Championship, 1938 Suomensarja – Finnish League Division 2 and 2000 Kakkonen – Finnish League Division 2. I thought that this approach might be a suitable naming convention until the Reviewer changed "2012 Suomen Cup - Finnish Cup" back to 2012 Finnish Cup.

The basic question I am asking is whether Finnish League and Cup articles should have a Finnish or English title or some form of hybrid?

I provide examples below:

Finnish Title English Title Hybrid Title
2012 Veikkausliiga 2012 Finnish Championship 2012 Finnish Veikkausliiga
2012 Kolmonen 2012 Finnish Division 3 2012 Finnish Kolmonen
2012 Suomen Cup 2012 Finnish Cup 2012 Finnish Suomen Cup
2012 Suomen Liigacup 2012 Finnish League Cup 2012 Finnish Liigacup
1938 Maakuntasarja 1938 Finnish Division 3 1938 Finnish Maakuntasarja
1954 Suomensarja 1954 Finnish Division 2 1954 Finnish Suomensarja
1970 II divisioona 1970 Finnish Division 2 1970 Finnish II divisioona
1986 III divisioona 1986 Finnish Division 3 1986 Finnish III divisioona
1997 Ykkönen 1997 Finnish Division 1 1997 Finnish Ykkönen

I have read Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) and Wikipedia:Article titles but have not reached a firm conclusion yet on the best way forward in establishing a consistent approach. The issue does matter with respect to the corrections I must make to existing pages and the tens of pages yet to be prepared. It could also carry implications for some of the articles that you currently contribute to.

I think that the matter would best be addressed on a proper basis and encourage that the issue is considered on the Talk Page of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Finland task force. If the matter is of concern to you as well, please add your name to the list of participants on the main page.

You may also wish to comment on the project structure that I have prepared.

Kind regards - (Finnish Gas (Finnish Gas 12:12, 23 February 2012 (UTC)).

Rangers ineligibile for 2012–13 European competitions

Hi,

should the ineligibilty of Rangers for the 2012–13 European competitions already be noted on both the 2012–13 UCL and UEL pages? The fact will surely appear on both pages at some later point during this season; however, I'm a little insecure if it should already be added right now since it is not yet clear on which place the club will end its 2011–12 league campaign. WCQ: Antigua and Barbuda awarded 3-0 win over Curacao.

You added that Antigua and Barbuda were awarded a 3-0 win over Curacao. Do you know what the reason was for this decision?

I could not find anything about it in the press or on the internet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.112.245.122 (talk) 02:31, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

I think it was because Curacao played Christy Bonevacia, who should have been suspended (yellow card in matchday 1: [3], yellow card in matchday 2: [4], and played in matchday 3: [5]). It was not reported at all because the decision was taken after ATG already qualified for the next round and only the GD were changed which had no effect on the final positions. Proposed deletion of category

Greetings! A stub template or category which you created has been nominated for renaming or deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type most likely doesn't meet Wikipedia requirements for a stub type, through failure to meet standards relating to the name, scope, current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals! I have proposed deletion of this category. I have added Category:Glider pilots instead. Gliders are aircraft not pilots. The 1936 Olympics had gliding as a demonstration sport. This will not be repeated. This category will only ever have one member.JMcC (talk) 09:50, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Jose/José Villarreal

Hi,

Thanks for making the disambiguation page to make it clearer. However, do you think "Jose Villarreal" (without the accent) should redirect to Jose Villarreal (soccer) (as he doesn't have the accent in his first name, unlike the other people), or to the disambiguation page with the accent, José Villarreal, in case people type it without the accent by mistake? This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2013–14 OFC Champions League, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2012–13 OFC Champions League. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. 2012–13 Kuwaiti Federation Cup

Hi Chanheigeorge. I've created a new article, 2012–13 Kuwaiti Federation Cup and was wondering if you had any input for it? I'm trying to keep it running along the same format as previous season articles but in this years edition it features all 14 teams in one big group. The results section will be massive come the end. I guess i'll group the results into two columns once it starts getting to round 8 onwards. But just wonder what you think and if you can find any sources as to what is actually happening? Are they crowing a champion after 14 rounds or are their additonal rounds to happen? Druryfire (talk) 12:44, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
