Swietenia macrophylla edit

It appears that you copy pasted a lot of content from http://www.swietking.org/. That site has a copyright notice at the bottom.

Please see: Talk:Swietenia_macrophylla#Possible massive copyright violations

You also uploaded as "own work", a number of images from that organization:

If these images are your own work, in other words, you own them, then you must send in permission that says so. Do you in fact own them?

For further information, please read Wikipedia:Copyright violations. If you have questions, please ask.

Hello Anna, I'm not sure about the proper pathway for responding to your inquiry. I appreciate the concern over the copyrights. My name is Chris Free and I am a mahogany researcher. I am the owner/writer of all of the SwietKing.org content. If you don't believe me, you can email me at cfree@swietking.org. I have copyright for everything I posted on Wikipedia since I wrote it all or took the pictures. Please let me know what I can do to clear this up. Thanks!

In order to donate your images to Wikipedia contact the OTRS team. You can e-mail them and work the issue out with them. Regardless, you cannot copy information over from your own website since it would amount to original research. Chris Troutman (talk) 03:25, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
But that would depend on whether or not we consider the site a reliable source. Plenty of reliable website content is based on other sources. Not all is considered original research. There may be a conflict of interest, though. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:37, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I would very much hope that our website is reliable. My collaborators are all PhD researchers and I am a PhD student right now. We are funded by the US Forest Service, the International Tropical Timber Organization, etc. Please look at the website if you have concerns. I have no doubt that you will see it's legitimacy. This content should not be considered a original research. It is a summary of the literature - our papers and others. All of the references are solid. I don't really have time to update the Wikipedia page so this would be a huge loss of material if it were taken down. Please don't hesitate to contact me with concerns. ~ Chris Free
I'll leave it to others to decide on the reliability of the content at your site. My main concern is the current copyvio text at the article here, and the images. Let's address those concerns at User talk:Anna Frodesiak#Swietenia macrophylla copyright concerns and then take it from there. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:01, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reminder edit

Just a reminder to handle the text content and images. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:15, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

I've removed everything I could find that was copy pasted. Further discussion about this should take place at Talk:Swietenia macrophylla#Possible massive copyright violations, if you wish. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:24, 28 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
