The most poetic refusal of a romantic advancment I have yet recieved. Sure beats the usual "Feck off, you *&?^ing £#&*hole."

Hello! edit

Hi Ceoil, you're probably super busy with articles, but my addition to the Moors Murders page (Very Friendly) was removed, and I am curious as to why? It is in the same vein as the Smiths pop-culture reference above it, which has no citations or anything either, and thus must also be taken as-is. I've never heard the Smiths song, but I believe that what was written about it, and it's relation to the Moors Murders to be true, so why can't the Throbbing Gristle comment also exist? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.57.136.25 (talk) 22:26, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

hi, Ceoil! --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 01:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Jb; as I think of it; Wikipedia:ACF Regionals answers might interest you. ( Ceoil sláinte 01:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sliding this in here (delete if you want) - I commented on the one far. I've been working on many 18th century poetry pages. However, I felt that I should start with the writers first. It might take a while. But yeah, we should be able to remedy the lack of poetry FAs. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:27, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

What aspects do you need? I started as a Romanticist. Ottava Rima (talk) 01:29, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I wrote up some notes for you (i.e. things you can add) to help a future expansion: here. Its not much, but still. I have more, just not right here. Also, you will need a "critical reception" section added to the end. This will have contemporary and recent critical views. Normally, I would suggest beginning with a "background" - a section talking about what information went into it and publishing details. Then the actual work, where you can describe the work, summarize, etc, then talk about themes. The "Lucy" section should make up the background, and there should be a main template linking to Lucy poems as a whole. There is significant information on each individual poem, so they do need separate sections.

Also, the "Cantos" are a mess. There really should be separate pages for each section. Any specific help, just tell me what you want/need on my talk page and I will provide. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:24, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Btw, I do mean exactly what I said in far. If someone turned in a paper like that, I would question if they would even be allowed in college, let alone if they were capable of performing research. There is nothing salvageable. Its rather tainted beyond restoration. I'm confused how the page could even have a cult following behind it. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:29, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
You can see from my one correction how sloppy and inadequate the language is. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:38, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Do you see my point about it being 11 separate published works, and how that causes major problems, especially when critical theory treats the individual ones in such depth and detail that it cannot be covered? Are you willing to put 11 main templates and move content over, summarize, include summaries of the critical theories and interpretations for each section, along with massive critical theory and interpretation of the works as a whole? Thats a large piece to bite off. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:23, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
When does Pound's copyright give out? We can take images of the first set of Cantos, because they were published before 1935. I don't know about the rest. Also, excerpts would be needed in a page about them. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:28, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, thats why I proposed removing it so there wouldn't be the stress, then letting everyone take the time to rebuild it from the ground up. It would be a slow process. I'm sure I'd have to stop by the Library of Congress a few times to check on things for the page, and that will take a while. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:46, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. However, we need to start working on separate pages for the individual Cantos so we can start building a consensus for the summary styles to put into each section. That way we can actually include the bulk of research, publication information, etc, without increasing the page beyond 200k (which it looks to be heading towards now). Ottava Rima (talk) 01:03, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I mean post adding references and appropriate criticism (FA would require adequately reflecting the dominant theory, which is very expansive and would require quite a lot of information). This is also assuming not to split the individual Cantos (with summaries and the rest, then the page should only be 80k or so). Ottava Rima (talk) 01:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

History of Limerick edit

Regarding the History of Limerick, now on FAR, I don't know when you might be able to get the Spellissy book but I have some other issues with it that I already put to User:DrKiernan but he has not replied yet. Based on his observations about comprehensiveness there are some quite large gaps but there also seems to be quite a bit of general Irish history thrown in that overshadows or overwhelms the Limerick story, where there is one. Maybe some of the general history should be trimmed out or reduced, for instance, the Irish Famine section seems to be more about the Cromwellian and Georgian period with only 3 sentences about the famine itself; perhaps a rename is in order there. As mentioned in a post on the talk page there is no mention of the Tudor re-conquest of Ireland and the Desmond Rebellions either.

Just today I found an extract of the Limerick entry from the Lewis's Topographical Directory of Ireland here which may be somewhat useful. In the meantime I am slowly working on finding references and will also try to expand the earlier period per DrKiernan's comments, but I will be happy to get any other advise, especially on the above points. In working on a few of these FARs, I realise it is so much more difficult to reference other peoples work at a later time than ones own around the time or writing! (I post in one place to keep a discussion together, so am watching this page for a while). TIA ww2censor (talk) 17:45, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm glad to see you working on this ww2, but I'm in the same boat, have two FARs (both proving more difficult than anticipated) and am hoping for two FAC within a month or so. Still, I'd hate to see this go. I would'nt be much use in adding content here, but I would be willing to chip in with MOS, c/e, and cites (my Grandfather has a few of the books, and I have access to the UCC library) at a later date. I've watchlisted now the page and the FAR, so lets see. ( Ceoil sláinte 19:42, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

date-autoformatting edit

Yes, it's a disease, isn't it. The script is dead-easy and works very well, but is still under trial; you'll need to scrunitise the diff afterwards to ensure that there were no screw-ups. Usually there aren't, but of course removal exposes the underlying inconsistencies in formatting within an article—inconsistencies that I believe should be exposed, since all of our readers out there see them, and they need to be fixed.

The script also needs to be applied judiciously and with sensitivity, at least at this early stage—possibly with a prior warning on the talk page if you foresee trouble: there's a band of people who say they don't care whether autoformatting is used or not, but find the fact that MOSNUM no longer encourages autoformatting insufficient to support the use of a script to remove it. Tony (talk) 01:15, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Clarifying ... edit

Hi Ceoil,

Just to be clear: I appreciate what you are doing on the Cantos. I really do. A lot. My commentary elsewhere is more regarding what I see as a general problem on Wikipedia regarding the increasing bureaucratisation of our processes, particularly GA/FA/GAR/FAR, a situation which has made it much harder to contribute content than it was a couple years ago. If my rhetoric goes a little over the top, it's because that's what you do on that page; it's like drinking in a pub and crying with your friends. What's happened on Wikipedia in the last several years is most upsetting to me and I have no idea what to do about it: it seems that you can no longer stick together two words without being accused of original research, and if you do stick those words together you get accused of plagiarism. Navigating the crack between Scylla and Charybdis is just so much more stressful than before, and we lose lots of good contributors because of the difficulty. But please carry on. You're doing great work. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 14:50, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yep. You've voluntarily taken on the most difficult position. Others hurl rocks from the sidelines, which is always easier. Hm, see No. 68, which I appear to have violated myself, oh well. I'm no expert on the Cantos and its critical and scholarly sources: I've only read the poem, parts again and again (first encountering the Pisan Cantos when I was about 21, I could tell there was something immensely powerful there, but beyond my understanding at the time -- it was one of those things I knew I would have to come back to some day -- like my first encounter with the late Beethoven quartets). I can read the article for style and structure, but I'm really just a well-read amateur, which is why I'm usually restricting myself to music and earth sciences these days, topics where I have credentials. As of bigger picture issues -- at the moment I don't feel a whole lot of hope, but if people like you help out one article at a time, this is all good. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 15:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regarding The Supremes review. Although I nominated it for a review I am of the opinion it should be left on hold to give you the time to finish it. Our music related FA articles already lack diversity as it is, it would be very unfortunate to lose this soul/R&B group. Painting (1946) edit

My response on my talk page (lk in my sig, below) did not reflect what i now know: i now realize that what you find ugly was not the word "Ugh" in my summary but the tag itself, and now i see (as a result of following my lk, hand-keyed from memory, to be sure had the valid lk) that you removed that tag. {{Cleanup}} is one of a very large family of "templated" tags for maintenance purposes, of long standing and laboriously adjusted to achieve WP's stated purposes. It's too bad they don't meet your aesthetic standards, and the removal fully deserves the presumption of another innocent beginner error. But further removal of them for that reason will result in vandalism sanctions against you.

Fetch boy fetch. *NOT A FUNNY ENOUGH CAPTION TUT TUT. TAGGED BY A TOURIST SINCE 1981.*
You didn't explain what about the article needed cleaning up, which takes away whatever tiny bit of merit tagging the article might have achieved in the first place. Your threats of "vandalism sactions" are pretty sad—this comes from an apparent administrator speaking to an editor who's been volunteering here for years? Perhaps you weren't aware that some editors consider the quick-tagging of articles with templates itself to be "vandalism"—so please don't be so sure of yourself in this regard. Your approach is laughable, and the reason that it has the benefit of numbers on Wikipedia today is largely because it has driven away most of the editors who don't treat articles as pieces of meat. (Hey, Ceoil, considering this started with a Bacon painting, that's pretty funny hey!) Nor does Ceoil deserve two sarcastic comments about his being a "beginner" (one on your page, one on his). And you're the administrator--marvelous! I think you owe him an apology. Whiskeydog (talk) 07:32, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Ceoil, i recommend that, for the sake of clarity, you either strike thru the preceding contrib, since it is disruptive of the core and always presumed two-cornered-discussion purpose of User-talk pgs, or -- if you solicited this attempt to convert our dialogue into something else -- clarify that fact. It is misplaced here if you did not, and i any case i will not participate in a three way discussion of this matter.
I have consolidated our preceding discussion and made a further response at User talk:Jerzy#Painting 1946, and you should not count on my seeing anything further added to this section.

On a novel that never has any action edit

In advance of any dispute, take a look at The History of Sir Charles Grandison before and after my edits. I can explain in detail each one. Ottava Rima's talk page seems a bit pugnacious about my attempt to smooth the language and grammar in the article, so, before that dissatisfaction turns to yet another Issue, I ask you to review the changes. If you have questions about specific changes I made, I'll be happy to answer.

The only thing that remains very ill, to me, is a statement attributed to Peter Sabor that Fielding's novels, such as Tom Jones and Amelia had vicious characters rewarded. Well, Richardson's feelings about Joseph Andrews and Tom Jones were precisely thus. He thought both featured heroes who were nasty. The reason for that is that Fielding meant them to be offensive to an overly fussy sensibility such as he detected in Pamela. However, during the writing of Tom Jones, Fielding began to develop his theory of the "good natured man." We can see the debut of this character in his Life and Death of Mr. Jonathan Wild the Great, where the character of Heartsfree is a good natured man. Squire Allworthy (not the hero of TJ) is similarly good natured. Fielding was thinking that there is a sort of moral essence to people, that some people do have kind natures, while others have nasty natures, and still others have natures that are malleable. His hero, Tom, has a good nature but has bad circumstances, and so he means well and does ill, but Squire Allworthy has a good nature and a good life and achieves benevolence everywhere. In Amelia, Fielding's last novel, he worked up the "good nature" further. The heroine and hero of that novel are so darned good that they're boring. Their minds are impenetrable paragons of virtue. Like Sir Charles Grandison itself, the novel was not well loved by later ages. In the immediate aftermath, it was, because that was the time of the Sentimental Novel, and these two novels were important parts in creating that beast (weepy people and gushing naifs). Thus, I do not believe, myself, that Peter Sabor included Amelia. If he did specifically name that novel as an example of a rough and tumble hero, then the statement needs considerable explanation. It is "likely to be challenged." I would challenge Dr. Sabor himself, in fact, if he said it, and I do challenge Ottava Rima to either excise that third title or be expansive on why it's included.

That's the only issue that I see as remaining. Otherwise, Ottava Rima doesn't like my changes, calls them errors, etc., but my conscience is quiet. Please review, when time permits. Geogre (talk) 13:53, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

At Swim-Two-Birds edit

Hi - if you have anything substantial to add to At Swim-Two-Birds, please let me know. I am fairly tired of being the only person who has done any work on it in the past few weeks, especially since it's not even my favourite novel by that particular author. The article needs feedback to get it to the point where it might get GA status, but right now - apart from a few well-sourced comments about the unreliability of the translations - I am close to burnout on it. Yeah, Ceoil is a good person to ask. He doesn't respect the unwritten "nominator–reviewer" bullshit that requires everyone on our open, collaborative project to pencil in their smallest complaints on the FAC page instead of just fixing it. Oh, that's too much work, the reviewers say, and not their job ... but they can write up many-bullet-pointed reviews and come back four more times to accuse the nominator of being defensive. Good FAC review isn't less work; but good FAC review earns more attention than "just fixing it", and the reviewers want to "widen their footprint" regarding their pet subject. So successful are they in their endeavour, that, years on, we have horrendously long and contrived FAC pages. Yup, that footprint's so wide now that, years on, the same pet subjects must be mentioned by one of the same four or five editors on every FAC. One wonders where the "average reviewer" disappeared to. Well, he realized that it wasn't enough that he thought the article was among the best work that wikipedians are doing, so he shut up. When the job description is "critique to death", fascinatingly little of importance will get past the bureaucrat in question. Oops—I was NOT referring to SandyG here. I was speaking hypothetically based on my own experience with "bureaucracy". Whiskeydog (talk) 23:03, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way, what an eye-opener this FAC has been. I went from 18 unanimous Supports in 24 hours to now knowing what it feels like when you know the material, know the research, and know the field inside and out, but have to educate reviewers who question a solid reliably sourced conclusion that enjoys widespread medical consensus. See the talk page of the FAC. Wasn't much fun, but I think it's beneficial for me to have felt FAC from that side of the fence: gives me a whole new perspective on what I hope happens almost never, but I suppose happens more often than we'd like. It also helps me see what it feels like to be in Ottava's shoes. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:23, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Projects edit

After Samuel Johnson, I think I want to rework Drapier's Letters quickly (I have three other books that I can incorporate in) and then bring this new page The Plays of William Shakespeare‎ up. They should only take about a week at most each, as they are smaller, require less comprehension, and they don't need to be utterly perfect as Johnson. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 00:42, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I forgot - next week, I can pick up some more books about She Dwelt among the Untrodden Ways and help you work on it if you would like. That one, Drapier's Letters, The Plays of William Shakespeare, Byron's bio, Keats's bio, and Smart's bio. I hope to put these together over the next month (I can do it :) ). It would be nice to get a Wordsworth poem to GA/FA. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:04, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

We could work on a deal where I work with you on your choice, then vice versa, etc etc, and start going through these poetry and literature pages. I think we could finish them all by the year 3078 :). Ottava Rima (talk) 22:59, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
To be honest, the page is only 15k, and could easily be used to cover all Lucy poems, including a section at the beginning for background (background to writing the piece) and a subsection with Lucy, and then a seperate section for each, then a critical review for them, then a legacy mentioning each of the takes. Really, all you would have to do is just add in the other poems, expand the criticism and background information a little, and its complete. It would make it easier to push more Wordsworth poems through than having to do each individually. :D Ottava Rima (talk) 23:13, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

(Ceoil, You will have to explain where and how I contradicted myself about self-selection on wp/fac/sj. Me, never! Whiskeydog (talk) 20:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC))Reply

Byron. I've been working slowly on it and have just stopped at the first half of his "Early Career". I have 6 books on his poetic career, two on his relationships, and one that I put together the early life background. I just need you to look over it and see if there is any areas that I should give a lot of attention to. I'm going to put it on the main space tonight (unfinished). And then we can have some people start working with it. Ottava Rima (talk) 22:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Three Witches edit

If you mean the ones from Macbeth:

Johnson as Critic - on Macbeth.

"In order to make a true estimate of the abilities and merit of a writer, it is always necessary to examine the genius of his age, and the opinions of his contemporaries. a poet who should now make the whole action of his tragedy depend upon enchantment, and produce the chief events by the assistance of supernatural agents, would be censured as transgressing the bounds of probability, be banished from the Theatre to the nursery, and condemned to write fairy tales instead of tragedies; but a survey of the notions that prevailed at the time when this play was written, will prove that Shakespeare was in no danger of such censures, since he only turned the system that was then universally admitted to his advantage, and was far from overburdening the credulity of his audience.

The reality of witchcraft or enchantment, which, though not strictly the same, are confounded in this play, has in all ages and countries been credited by the common people, and in most by the learned themselves. These phantoms have indeed appeared more frequently, in proportion as the darkness of ignorance has been more gross; but it cannot be shown, that the brightest gleams of knowledge have at any time been sufficient to drive them out of the world...."

Well? Let me find out what David Brin said to Anonymous User "ponytail" on Wired News. And to whom was this voyeur really speaking? Who are you trying to kid? Who are you trying to convince and why? -SusanLesch (talk) 23:40, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Right. The TLD "ponytail.com" was open and I almost registered it, instead choosing the more worrisome "macvirus.com". "Looking for trouble," is the private conversation I had. In the University of Minnesota health care center, a few years earlier when my husband later walked in to some symphony and yellow-orange lighting bolts across the way. I believe it started with a "W" but I don't know opera. He painted like this. But my mother was a guarantor of the Metropolitan Opera. And you know what? Once in a while they even visited Minneapolis, Minnesota. I think I saw La Boheme with my landlord, a television producer for the what? Not the first college radio station on planet Earth, but yes someone was trying to prompt me for Burton Paulu's name because I had to jump out of a moving car, on a highway to Rochester, Minnesota (IBM, Mayo Clinic, and a few people). -SusanLesch (talk) 23:40, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Q: Some people never sleep or only rarely like Dr. Buckminster Fuller who slept for a short nap when he was tired, or so the story goes? No offense whatever intended but Mr. Dodds still hasn't answered any questions I asked him on your talk page. Or did I miss something? Doesn't matter? Well in this context, I think the difference is in producers, Daniel Lanois on the one hand (Oh Mercy, ref) and "unlisted" on the other (Down in the Groove, ref). But I don't know, thus the question, raised when Mr. Dodds changed Bob Dylan from a "folk rock" to a "folk, rock" artist (I thought he might know something about it, ref). So clearly I asked the wrong question. Peace, love, and best wishes for your project. -SusanLesch (talk) 14:31, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Geometry of Fear edit

Not my field, but can you point me to info on it/images. Ty 04:19, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is the choice Reg Butler or Lynn Chadwick? If so, I can't see the "direct contrast", only the direct influence! Compare them both with Moore's King and Queen. I suppose the other two are more "spikey", if that's the difference, but they are really a development of his work (my OR, unless there's a ref somewhere). I'm not sure I could make any clear decision between Chadwick and Butler here. The Geometry of Fear part needs to mention the relevant sculptors - none is named. Feel free to revert/amend my edits, as you know more about what is required for FA than I do. Ty 04:53, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I can do the FU, but it needs some supporting text in the article first. The fact that it's an Arts Council show will help - non-commercial, and that they have used it as the key representative image. Ty 05:14, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Public Enemy y-link... they were from the generation when I sorta listened to this stuff. Thanks for reminding me they were rap geniuses compared to the stuff these days. This led me down a strange memory lane which first went to Metallica's video for One, which is a horribly moving thing (this coming from the guy who once called himself "Isolation Booth", so maybe it's worse for me). On the subject of pain, I was then reminded of a "jazz" tune by Roland Kirk, the man who could play a few saxophones at once, called "The Inflated Tear". I've never heard pain expressed like this in music; he was blind and had kidney failure, I think, at the the time. (I can't find a music link, unless you're in the US, which doesn't help us [15].) Back to the subject of war, I've been wanting to send you Strauss's Metamorphosen but it's a longer work; here's a chopped-up youtube performance [16]. But you need an uncut recording and good audio to enjoy it. Whiskeydog (talk) 07:16, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

George Ault edit

Why did you revert the infobox? The box was not empty as your update comment suggests - No other explanation was given of why it was reverted either??AlexGWU (talk) 13:19, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes are html twaddel, add nothing that should be in the lead anyway, and are a painfull eyesore. Its a vey decisive argument, but I admit my blanket revert of you was rude. Still, no no no no no. Ceoil sláinte 20:19, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Now he's added a stub and an infobox. Why the fuck does anyone try to write articles here again? Templaters need to go work on a goddamn crossword puzzle, jigsaw puzzle, computer shoot 'em up, or something—none of this crud is encyclopedia building. (No, it's not "administrative"; the purported recipients of this "administration" don't exist, and never have. It's unnecessary page garbage in lieu of real effort.) At least when I'm bored on WP, maybe I add an image to an article, improve writing, or whine at you. Has it gotten worse (not the whining, I know it has; but the pseudo-editing) or am I just imagining it? Whiskeydog (talk) 04:40, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Come now, this is a relatively new user trying to help out. I know it was tough diving in here for me but I eventually ended up spending only 30 percent of my time campaigning for community bans, which is significantly less time than most established users devote to the task, and spend some time with content. When I started out Infoboxes seemed like a good idea -- a straightforward way for disparate editors to achieve some sort of uniform quality across millions of articles -- and it wasn't until I was much more experienced that I saw their flaws. It looks like Alex here, a young colonial with at least some college education has an interest in art. Seems like a potentially valuable convert to me. --JayHenry (talk) 05:00, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
You may have something there Jay. I see you've taken my junking up of your recent DYK in stride. Let me know when it has at least 40 citations and is two screens long and I'll remove the stub tag. I'm thinking one of those "needs worldwide viewpoint" templates might be appropriate there as well. Thanks, Whiskeydog (talk) 23:20, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whiskeydog, glad to see you are now come around to the "needs worldwide viewpoint" and "at least 40 citations" world view; but given the fuss on WP:AN a few days back, I though it was not so, and to protect myself I had to set in motion certain actions and events which will not become appparant for a few days just yet, and which I cannot now call off. They will mean that I now necessiarly have to align with you; and not as I had hoped, with dear Jay. Jay, I say this for old old time sake, only, but now is the time to befriend or find some dirt on a few arbs; Whiskeydog, as I took no chances in covering my tracks, you might do the same.
For both our sakes, W-Dog, best we take this off-wiki and discuss in private, least Jay figures out whats going on before it is too late for him. You know how crafty he is. Ceoil sláinte 23:32, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, I'm bankrupt. I've let the template asses eat my alive. Yes, it's my fault; am bothered way too easily. A minor painter named George Ault drowned, and now his article is drowning. Soon the three paragraphs I put together will each have their own "heading". Soon someone will add some template that passively says that the article is missing something. It wasn't supposed to work like this. Adding to wikipedia was once something I put a specific effort into [old account], for my own small part. Once you realize that the average user tends to degrade even the simplest cogent articles as articles; that very few people have any appreciation for the text as the fundamental of an "encyclopedia"; and that all kinds of structures are now in place for this to be permanent, you have to forget about adding to wikipedia in a meaningful way. Unless you're an unfailing optimist or a Buddhist. You can auction off my assets Ceoil and buy yourself a nice piece of blown glass, and also get JayHenry a box of chocolates under $10 please. {{Infobox loser association | bgcolour = #6495ED | name = <a secret> | image = | imagesize = <a secret> | caption = Secret conspiracy (ha! ha! erk! erk...) }}

I have emailed you a number of important and highly secret documents stolen from our man on commons. Please reply in 8px text, least JH (code for you know who) discovers whats afoot. Ceoil sláinte 00:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Update: I've reverted the fucking thing. Ceoil sláinte 19:09, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's good of you, in a fight-tha-power kind of way. I'd given up, as you can see where I added to the article without removing the infobox. Friedrich also ended up with an infobox, which I just really noticed today when Modernist assessed it as 'start'. Which is not true, so I changed it to 'B'. If you're feeling like a real rebel, you could remove that box too. He already looks goofy-romantic in that portrait, then we're framing him in another goofy frame. Finally, JanHenry told me by email that he is sorry for misspelling your name, and he thinks you're a power user. And I'm mainly going to use wikipedia as my myspace from now on, because it's all become quite discouraging. That's the update for today. Ciao Whiskeydog (talk) 06:49, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Henry Moore edit

But first, I no longer have internet connection at home, so it gets complicated since I can't just pull up the article etc. I believe that I have several books on moore at home and several more in which he is a major and/or minor player. I have a lot of pictures of his work in the USA, some of which might be posted already, but my hassels with the copywrite police here have caused me to back off a bit. Anyway, when I get back on line I shall try and remember to get involved. life is good. EInar aka Carptrash (talk) 20:03, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ceoil, Moore's been pfranced, as you requested. Are you guys planning to do more with the article? I'd like to see more analysis/aesthetic understanding but I wouldn't delay proceedings over that. Whiskeydog (talk) 10:48, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

My next creation will be... edit

Scream/Childhood. — Realist2 00:35, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not getting involved, but the comment was funny lol. — Realist2 02:00, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
If your a bit down this might make you laugh. — Realist2 02:37, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have a friend list which you've been on for a while and I have a list of people you hate me aswell. Lol, I'll add Dr. America, he doesn't like me. — Realist2 02:57, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see that my arch-nemesis and mortal-foe Ceoile is on this list and I am not. I subscribe to the "Bush Doctrine": "If you are not with me, you're against me." You are on the way to destruction. You have no chance to survive make your time. --JayHenry (talk) 03:01, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Realist, he not joking either. Maybe best option is a short chat with family and friends, tend to some final documents and a go quite walk in an orange feild to consider how beautful life was. Look at what happened dear User:Whiskeydog; we hardly knew him, but eh, its wiki, and he knew what time it was. Ceoil sláinte 23:35, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Once Whiskey said "Ceoil, Moore's been pfranced", clocks started ticking, and large men boarded a plain from moscow, same day return, to Cork. Ceoil sláinte 00:24, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

If any admins are reading this; yeah, I put hits on wikipedia editors (not many mind, but a few), but I do it in a civil manner and never personally attack them before they have their affairs in order). Ceoil sláinte 00:35, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

In reference to my latest interest Scream/Childhood. Would you be able to help with a fair use image of the "Childhood" music video? Currently the article sucks pro's wise but at the moment I'm just trying to find every scrap of info available and will come to the pro's clean up last. User:Bookkeeperoftheoccult will add some info later and I have a friend outside of wiki to get more. At some point there will be audio samples, but I haven't considered what section of the songs I would like to use yet. I'm going to be splitting my time between that and this. Also thank you for the RfA comment, but it will be some while yet. Disgruntled editors don't forget fast. — Realist2 21:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Meshuggah help edit

Greetings Ceoil! Ealdgyth told me some time ago that you would help me... I would be glad if you can have a look at Meshuggah and do a read-over of the article, just to catch any jargon, etc. Your comments/suggestions on Wikipedia:Peer review/Meshuggah/archive2 would be very appreciated... Thanks, have a nice day!--  LYKANTROP  12:07, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Byron edit

I created George Gordon Byron's early life. I wanted to ensure that the Byron article wont have the same problems as the Johnson article. I am still working on the Byron article here: User:Ottava Rima/Byron. Could you look it over and help make the early life sections a summary of the early life page that I created? I am horrible with summary style. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:56, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gondjout edit

Thanks for your help with the article! I will work on adressing your opposition. Basically this is the jist of his life: it is incredibly hard to find any more. the editorofthewiki (talk/contribs/editor review) 19:23, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Really, pretty much nothing else is available. I looked through all my sources and produced what we have today. It might need some copyediting, sure, but I think that is probably the only thing it needs. the editorofthewiki (talk/contribs/editor review) 10:53, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I suggest you check out the massive effort going on at OK Computer right now. Brandt Luke Zorn suggested making a Featured Topic out of it, so also drop in on the singles articles. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

MHHH edit

When are we working on Wordsworth? If you don't remind me or get in touch with me, I will just whip up a sample page for the Lucy poems this weekend in my subspace and dump a large amount of notes on the talk page for you. I'm thinking about doing these (in this order) - Wordsworth Lucy poems, Byron page, Shelley's Prometheus Unbound, Keats's Hyperions, Blake's Jerusalem, Keats's bio, some Byron poem, then Blake's bio. 8 pages that we are going to work on towards GA/FA status. These must be done before the end of November. :P Then we can double back and hit other things. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:36, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay, then, I'll dump notes on a subpage for Wordsworth that includes what M H Abrams says on the poems, Harold Bloom says, and Geoffrey Hartman says, plus many lesser known scholars. I'll also prep what I think a combination page could look like. That way, you can use it to base your ideas and you wont really need me for much else. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:47, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Appreciated. Anything on the parodies would be very helpful. Ceoil sláinte 21:50, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
