"Outside comment"

For purposes of an RfC, an "outside comment" simply means someone who is not directly party to the dispute in question. Whether or not that person has knowledge of the subject area of an at-issue page is not relevant. Neither does it matter whether you have a long or short edit history.

My only concern in reading your comment, and its peculiar tone, was that you might have been asked directly by Monicasdude to provide specific comments (or possibly were an actual sockpuppet for him; but I refrained from making such an unsupported claim in violatation of Wikiquette). You have stated that you are indeed a disinterested observer, and I happily accept that. I would urge you to read the dispute carefully—it is not about judging the relative subject expertise of editors, but rather about what JDG and I (or any other certifiers who might join) perceive as inappropriate Wikipedia conduct. Category:Hüsker Dü albums

Hi...when you want to correct the spelling of a category name, could you please keep in mind that it's not really the best process to simply add the correctly spelled category to the articles while simultaneously leaving the incorrectly spelled name on the same articles? You should replace the wrong category name with the right one; an even better idea would be to list it for renaming on the "speedy renaming" section of CFD, where it can be done automatically by a bot, saving you a bunch of work. There's also a {{categoryredirect}} template that can be used in a situation like that, so that people can still get to the correct category from the incorrect one if they don't know how to type the special ü character. And there's a bot that automatically runs a few times a day to move articles that are filed in a redirected category (the only restriction is that the last edit on the category has to be made by an administrator). So all you would really have to do is create the correct category, and then contact an administrator to put the categoryredirect template on the old one. (Well, you could put it on yourself, too...but an administrator would still have to make a further edit so the bot could run.)

So basically...never fear. This place is a process factory, so we have ways to do almost anything that needs to be done :-) Bearcat 18:42, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
