Peer Review

Perhaps you can add a summaries to "selected written works" and maybe include a short description of the importance of these words as a lead.

Maybe combine Education career into "early life" as the majority of that section is off-topic (discussing the politics of the time rather than Chesnutt's particular contributions. Or, add some more information about his contribution while he was a teacher.

In "Legal and writing career" consider changing "Chesnutt read the law" to "studied the law." Maybe move the "Writing" section before "Social and political activism."

Your article is already in great shape, so I think you should work on conciseness and combining the sections about his life, as its a bit redundant to have several.

Peer review

It seems like your article is in pretty good shape without any edits from you, but there are certainly some improvements you could make. In general, many statements need citations. Every section is in need of citations, so I think this would be a good place to start. Any claim or specific piece of information needs to be cited from a secondary source. Also, aim for simple sentence structure and make sure everything is written in a neutral tone. I think you could also consider integrating the sections about his personal life.
