Hi! I wanted to give you a head's up about this article. This article is held under sanctions because it falls within the topic area of gender-related controversies (for obvious reasons). What this means is that the article is more closely watched than other articles and as such, anything you add needs to be written as neutrally as possible and sourced with the strongest possible sources. If edits are reverted, it's very important to discuss the removal on the article's talk page. Your edit to the article didn't have any issues, but I did want to give you a head's up about this so that you're aware of this ahead of time. Both your instructor, Dr Aaij, and I can definitely help you with any questions or concerns you may have.
I think that there's a lot of potential with this article, however I will say that it may be somewhat more difficult to add substantial content to the article as opposed to an article that's less developed like Harry Allen (trans man) or Pierre Brésolles. - Hi, I saw that your most recent edit was reverted by MrX and I wanted to explain why. The first and most important part was that you changed trans man to read trans woman. This is incorrect, as Brandon Teena was assigned female at birth. He identified as male and was transitioning from female to male. As such, he is a trans man (ie, female to male) rather than a trans female (male to female). Other than that, you changed some wording that looks to have caused some grammatical errors but the main issue was changing trans man to trans woman. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:45, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

- Certainly. Wikipedia has an open license which allows people or groups to re-use our content as long as they abide by the rules of our licensing. Some websites take advantage of this and make full "mirrors" of articles, usually with the motive of adding some commercial material. They provide the correct license at the bottom of each article, and clearly note that the material is copied from Wikipedia with a link to the article they duplicated (the "Content from Wikipedia" link at the bottom of that page). Obviously, we cannot reference ourselves; this leads to a "circular" reference. Please note that there are many mirrors like this, and some are less open about the origins of the material they copy. Others fail to attribute at all and violate our copyright. You can find a longer explanation at Wikipedia:Mirrors and forks, along with a detailed list of known mirrors. I keep a shorter list of the ones most likely to show up in simple google searches here. Hope this helps. Kuru (talk) 10:53, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

- @Dr Aaij: I would count about 90% of them in that "trick" category: they copy wikipedia content, reformat it somewhat, add some sort of revenue generation component, then hover about in the google search rankings. It looks like google penalizes them at some point, and they drop off the first page of results. The sites then go idel or just fold. Some sites seem to be legitimate attempts to improve the interface (like "Wikiwand"). Other are more like "forks"; they copy wikipedia and attempt to improve it by adding more content (Everipedia) or completely re-write the articles (NewWorld). That Revolvy site is especially prolific - I think it's a quiz/trivia site mainly that houses a mirror for context in the quizzes. They don't get penalized since there's a legitimate side to the site, so they're always there in the search results. Lots of people bite on that one. Kuru (talk) 01:26, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
