Coren?

Hi Cbrown, I see you placed the notice, this user/admin seems to be AWOL. Is he coming back soon? No problem, just asking (+ a little bit of concern, but no big deal). Thanks! Franamax (talk) 00:09, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Coren's been missing due to work commitments. I think last I heard he was in Algeria and thought he would be back by the 26th, but he said he might be held up longer. I don't think there's anything wrong with him, but he's just swamped with work and has very little internet access there. I'm sure he appreciate your concern, though. Cbrown1023 talk 00:33, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

No consensus?

I fail to see how the result of Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/MuseScore was no consensus. The entire argument was based on the fact that MuseScore was not notable. Someone came in with a source that proved it was notable. The fact that nobody responded to that is irrelevant since AfD is not a vote. If you dispute the latter claim of notability, then that should have been mentioned in the discussion (which makes it a COI for you to close, but hey. Other people exist.) As is, it appears that you ruled with bias towards the deletionists.

I, of course, assume good faith, and say it was an accident. Civility won't let me do otherwise. — trlkly 01:33, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

There was only one person other than the nominator who thought it should be deleted. Furthermore, the person who linked to "RS coverage" linked to News Archives instead of a Google search which would provide many sources. Based upon the other's arguments, it is actually been noted on About.com. I definitely do not have a COI, I have nothing to do with MuseScore or other software and am shocked that you'd go so far as to suggest that just because my closing didn't agree with your way of thinking. Instead of suggesting that I contributed to the discussion, maybe you should have instead? Either way, you can just nominate it again and plead a convincing case. Maybe then you will get the "delete" result that you want. Cbrown1023 talk 14:31, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

It's actually not the bad with AutoWiki, it probably took 20 minutes of clicking. Although, if some users' talk pages have the orange bar on top of their talk page similar to what is used when you have a new message on your talk page, the program thinks that I had a message so it wouldn't let me send the notice on their talk pages. I had to do that part manually, but it was only for four or five editors, so no big deal. I need to persuade myself to stop editing this week though, I got a ten-page paper due. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 04:33, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Orphaned non-free media (Image:MurderInTheFirstCover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:MurderInTheFirstCover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:13, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Reminder about Mark Oaten

You are receiving this message because you are listed as the protecting admin for Mark Oaten. The page has been semiprotected for longer than 2 months without an expiry date set. Because Wikipedia relies on contributers to make the encyclopedia, I'm asking you to review your decision and either

  • Unprotect the page if protection is no longer needed, or
  • set a reasonable expiry date for the protection instead of leaving it on forever

I hope that you will do one of the two in order to reduce the backlog of pages that have been semiprotected for very long period of time. If there are other pages you have also protected, I will try not to give more reminder, but I hope that you will double check your protection log to pick up and pages you might have forgotten. Thank you. -Royalguard11(T) 20:04, 6 August 2008 (UTC) Why am I receiving this message?

I'll try to set expiries more in the future. I'm not one of the admin who cares when you unprotect a page I protected if you have a valid reason. Feel free to unprotect any of them that have been semi'ed for a while and should be unprotected. Cbrown1023 talk 00:55, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I got your e-mail, and just in case you didnt get mine, I am willing to translate whatever you want. Just put the link on my talk page and It'll be done soon!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdhaptomos (talkcontribs) 19:09, 15 August 2008

Thanks. :D I need the Wikimedia Foundation's donation form translated into Welsh (Cymraeg). The existing translation hasn't been updated since 2005. :'( If you would be willing to help, the source and workspace can be found on Meta-Wiki: m:Donate/cy. Thanks again for your help with this, it's very much appreciated. Cbrown1023 talk 21:29, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I have finished, one pointer:
  • There are some links in the text to English pages. I have left the links, but put the Welsh translation as a mask onto them (as in [[english link|welsh link]]). I don't know what you want me to do with this.
Remember to ask for me next time you need a welsh translation! Cadan ap Tomos 23:25, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow, that was incredibly quick, I'm impressed. :-) If you happen to know anyone else who speaks cy who would be willing to review your translation (we try to get the pages reviewed by at least one other person before we upload them), could you point them to the page? About the English pages, that is exactly what I would have told you to do, so thanks. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 23:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I published it, you can see it here. :-) Also, if you are willing there is a template used in the thanks page that you could translate also (it's very short): m:Translation requests/WMF/OurProjects2006/cy. Cbrown1023 talk 00:16, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Done that too. Did you manage to copyedit the first one? One thing I forgot to do is translate the names of the projects (Wikipedia=Wicipedia etc.). Is there any way I can do that? Cadan ap Tomos 12:55, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks again. Yeah, you can still make changes to the same place (m:Donate/cy) and the two version (the Meta version and the Foundationwiki version) will be synced. Cbrown1023 talk 13:07, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again for your help with this, I appreciate it. Cbrown1023 talk 00:02, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Extra Milhist mailings

Would you be able to handle a couple of extra mailings for Milhist next month please? We are holding our coordinator elections in September and would like to send out a call for nominations on about September 1, followed by a voting reminder on September 15. They would both go to the full members list (about 825 names). we normally handle this manually but the membership ias getting way too big for that now. If you are able to help, it would be very much appreciated. If you are unable to, enjoy your wikibreaks!

Thank you, too, for looking after the newsletter for us. It removes a great burden :) --ROGER DAVIES talk 16:57, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
