Hello, Cat4242, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Speedy deletion nomination of Prevention Through Deterrence

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Prevention Through Deterrence, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. November 2019

Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft of your article in draftspace or in your userspace first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. Schazjmd (talk) 19:36, 20 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Live articles

edit

Hi, I saw that you created a blank page at Prevention Through Deterrence. Please be aware that when you create a live article, the expectation is that the article will be complete or at least reasonably complete enough to tell what the article is about as soon as the page is created. There is no need to make a placeholder page. It's definitely far better and more beneficial to work on a draft in your sandbox rather than a live article, as the draft will give you the time to pull together sourcing and write the article content without fear that any draft work will be immediately deleted due to it being incomplete or seeming to be non-notable. Moved to draftspace

edit

Hi! I saw that your article was moved to the draftspace. I wanted to leave you some notes on what you added since then:

  • This mentions prior strategies, but doesn't really show how they were applicable to the topic at hand. While some mention of these would be good as a history type of thing, but there's no real need to go into a lot of specific detail - an overview is fine. If you do go into more detail, it needs to show how this pertained to PTD. The same thing goes to other sections as well.
  • This needed formatting since it lacked a clear lead.

This is going through AfC now, so the person who reviews it may give more information - Discospinster may have some advice as well. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:44, 6 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
