Question from Niki jr 69 (15:15, 13 September 2023)

Can I write an artical of myself? --Niki jr 69 (talk) 15:15, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

@Niki jr 69: Please see our behavioral guideline, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, which states Do not edit Wikipedia in your own interests, nor in the interests of your external relationships. So, no, it is not a good idea to create an article about yourself. Peaceray (talk) 15:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

NPPS

Hi @Cassiopeia,

Would you be willing to consider taking me as a student for your NPPSCHOOL program? I don't quite meet the 500 requirement threshold, but with the increasing backlog, I would like to learn and offer a helping hand. Best, NotAGenious (talk) 13:31, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

@Cassiopeia courtesy ping NotAGenious (talk) 09:08, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
NotAGenious Good day and thank you for interested in NPPS. Your current total edits on the main space is 388, which means you will reach 500 very soon. What I can do is to provide you with some reading material first to equip you will some guidelines needed for the first few assignments. When you reach the edits required you can pop back here and I wills up the program for you. Pls read WP:N, WP:SNG, WP:STAND, WP:RS, WP:IS, WP:RSP, WP:V, WP:PROVEIT, WP:Primary, WP:Secondary, and WP:Tertiary. Pls note the program is comprehensive and would require a lot of your time to read the material and do the assignment. There is no time limit to complete the program and most participants finished the program in 3 months. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 09:35, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I've read all the pages you sent already. Just thought that according to WP:NPPS, around 500 edits would be enough, but thanks for making the requirement clear. NotAGenious (talk) 09:44, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
NotAGenious good to know had read the guidelines. I do suggest you to read again if you are interested in joining NPPS. Cassiopeia talk 10:05, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
I've read them again. Is it possible, if you'd give me some of the first assignments and tasks already now? I'll probably hit 500 edits before the end of the program. NotAGenious (talk) 11:06, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Cassiopeia,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Opinion of the writer

Is this version okay?

All three judges gave the fourth round to Gamrot, despite Tsarukyan knocking Gamrot down with a spinning backfist punch and landing more strikes. Had that round been scored for Tsarukyan, he would've won via unanimous decision.[1] Pill55k (talk) 13:07, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Pill55k Good day. I saw your edit o Gamrot page and the edit (info of the text) is good with source provided. There are a few things to be noted here. 1. In MMA fighters' pages/articles in Wikipedia, we usually would provide the mmadecision by the media scoring to indicate is a fight is controversial or not (example 20 out of 22 media favour for the loser - that would be contravesial bu not 15 of 22 media) unless there are sources with significant coverage (many many independent, reliable sources) indicate the fight is controversial. 2. In Wikipedia, we edit the info as the summary from the source in simple and factual in neutral point of view ( see - WP:NPOV way as how it is report and not adding additional purffery words or reduction of the fact such as opinion, deduction or addition of the opinion or facts, adding adjective and adverb words such as "just, very, extremely, praise, put down, etc.) for this will directedly or indirectly effective the emotional stage of the readers ( see WP:PUFF. 3. Pay-by-pay can be added to the body if the info is extremely important and remember the texts have to adhere strictly to NPOV and general speaking, only less than 0.01% of pay-by-pay is added to mma fighters. So pls do not do so until is super necessary. Safe safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 04:43, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
