Disruptive edits

Hello Cassiopeia this is probably the last message I will send you hopefully everything has been good with you due to my recent laziness during one of my projects I have been banned from the site so I am giving up editing however there is one thing I was trying to fix, there have been extremely destructive edits from an individual towards motorcycle related content on Wikipedia specifically Quebec Biker War I noticed that you have talked to this individual recently about adding things without references and he has many warnings on his page about destructive edits Shaolin punk has changed the outcome of the Quebec biker War I had multiple references up to six stating that the outcome was a stalemate resulting from police crackdowns, he changed the outcome back to what he saw fit and removed all of my references without reading any of it he and another user as brown(which I had already previously convinced it was a stalemate due to the fact that the information they were adding was from a book that was written by a biker in the 2000s he had no idea the scope or the scale of the situation the reference that I used is a 25-year anniversary review of the incident by the main tabloid that released information about the incident) get it in their minds just because they found two articles that state the Hell's Angels won and that is truly not fact the Montreal Gazette article alone states that the police crackdown brought about the end of the conflict the Montreal Gazette was the main reporter of all news regarding the incidents in Quebec and all other news articles are basically just copied from information they released thus I would dub it a primary source but due to my current issues I'm not able to fix the damage they have caused to the article, it's readability and quality have declined and they have removed all the sections and turned it into one long mess. Anyways I am not asking you to take action on my behalf I am giving up I believe as I don't think there's a possibility that I will be on band due to my attitude towards this individual also, got very frustrated earlier it is what it is so I was just bringing this to your attention as a fellow editor I know that you would not want the open destruction of a page. Thanks for all that you have done helping me out sincerely it was good meeting you2607:FEA8:28E0:2940:3163:CA4C:9C96:F0ED (talk) 08:33, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

@2607:FEA8:28E0:2940:3163:CA4C:9C96:F0ED: Good day. Thank you for the message above and I got to say, it is a little hard to understand your message above as it has no comma and only one period. Secondly it is very rude to attack other editor with foul languages on the edit summary even thought your were frustrated at the time. I understand your emotion as since I am one of the counter vandalism editors I have my shared of abusing languages come my way. You have said you have been banned due to one of your project and yet you still use other IP address to edit Wikipedia which means you are a WP:SOCK which you will be banned indefly so pls stop editing Wikipedia immediately. I am not sure which user are you but I presume your are User:CanadianHistorian(MMA & History) which previously you went by Tsims23, if so, I have to say, I am sad to know that since I have many good interactions with you and you have been contribute a lot to Wikipedia. If you are Tsims23, first of all, pls get appeal your banned, and "truly" understand the issues (might be more than one) that the admin banned you. Acknowledge your actions and state how you would not offend it again, and asked if the banned can be lifted or lifted in six months. Secondly, if you have an issue in content dispute or change of content supported by ref as your case, and other editor disagree, then pls go to the article talk page and raise a discussion. Make sure you ping the involved editor. Lastly, Give me a few days to a week and I will look at the sources your provided in the page to verify the info. Whoever you are, stay calm and stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 05:24, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Cassiopeia ur correct, I was not banned because of my language it was because I was lazy, I used an article as a template, I wasn't feeling good and I didn't end up editing it enough I just rushed it through so it was copyrighted. Either way I don't care that one's on me I already admitted that I knew that that was the issue long ago and they've denied me since so I'm not going to waste my Time. I could just write literal books about the stuff I write on here and make money off of my efforts, plus no one can edit it lol.. but in all seriousness I think the gods have spoken and they are dead set on me being done here. And that's fine with me I have already asked a friend and he agreed that he would create a Wikipedia profile to manage the MMA pages I made. I only started using bad language once I knew I was banned and I would never be coming back which is still unacceptable but they ruined hours of my work I've wasted hours of my life on this BS and I made one slip up, either way it's not a very forgiving community and even if I wasn't blocked I don't think I would want to be a part of such a thing and Cassiopeia you know me I'm a diplomatic person if I thought there was a way to explain to this gentleman that he's wrong and come to a compromise that I would have done that he doesn't take no for an answer he does what he wants and they're letting him win so that is fine he has so many warnings on his page about disruptive and destructive edits.. anyway I'm not going to worry about it anymore I have my own life to live and my own stuff to deal with. And I was just letting you know of the damage being done I don't care if you take action or not I just thought it would be the right thing to do, and yes I truly did enjoy our interactions together it was nice learning from you but I don't think that I can appeal there's already been too much rambling and too much anger it's over Wikipedia is not really a democracy it's a dictatorship with many rules lol 🤣 I will come back on to see your reply, I have always enjoyed talking with you you are a good person and you help the MMA community which you have nothing but my respect for.2607:FEA8:28E0:2940:3163:CA4C:9C96:F0ED (talk) 17:18, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Question from Alt hist fan 53033 (13:45, 27 April 2022)

Dear Cassiopeia:

I would like to edit the Wikipedia page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_alternate_history_fiction, but I am having technical trouble figuring out how to make the edits I think are needed.

Specifically, I would like to add a line to the "Contents" under "1.10 2010s", to read "1.11 2020s". Second, I would like to add a new table under the "2010s" table entitled "2020s" and listing one book.

Any advice you could give me for making these revisions would be very helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for your assistance.

Draft:Zhao Xuejun

Hi. I created a new article on an individual who has arguably played a key role in the development of MMA in China. Most of the sources can unfortunately be only found in Chinese. Please review and see if its is ok for mainspace. -Imcdc (talk) 15:10, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

Imcd Thank your for writing the article. I have reviewed it, unfortunately, most of the sources are not reliable to meet the notability guidelines. Keep the draft article and if you can find sources from the major newspapers, then add them in, we need at least 5 such sources. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 10:05, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi. I have changed the sourcing. Again mostly Chinese sources since there are few English ones which talk about him specifically. I'm not sure if we reached the number needed but I have tried to find as many independent ones that talk about him. -Imcdc (talk) 13:30, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Paddy Pimblett

Hi, this article has a draft page which states it should wait until WP:NMMA is satisfied before being restored. However, WP:NMMA states it applies only if WP:GNG is not satisfied. In this case WP:GNG clearly is satisfied given the widespread coverage Pimblett in national media, examples listed below:

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/mar/20/paddy-pimblett-and-molly-mccann-light-up-london-on-thrilling-night

What would be the process to undelete this? Boynamedsue (talk) 06:35, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Boynamedsue Good day. The 2 guardian articles do carry some weight but the articles talk about 2 different fighters and not mainly the subject alone. The independent source is a paid site, I cant read the full article for such no comment on this one. The mirror sources are questionable sources for they do not carry the same reliability such as the bbc or guardian. One of the bbk (against Luigi Vendramini) is just a routine sport report and the other is a interview piece for such it is considered not independent. UFC Fight Night 212 is held in London on July 23, 2022 and many UK fighters are/will be in the card and I believe Pimblett most likely would be in the event as well, by then he would have pass NMMA. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 07:03, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
I think that some of your takes on the validity of the sources are somewhat idiosyncratic. Significant coverage does not need to occur in a source which speaks exclusively about the subject to satisfy WP:GNG. The independent article is exclusively about Pimblett, and deals with him in substantial detail. I think we should probably think about what wikipedia is for here, Pimblett is, by quite a long way, the most well-known MMA fighter in the UK (with the exception of Connor McGregor), and clearly satisfies WP:GNG. There will be a lot of articles published about him in June, and the hype will lead people here to find out about him. It is a bit of a sad state of affairs that we won't have an article for them. Boynamedsue (talk) 18:34, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
To cite the relevant guideline "Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material." A Guardian article discussing two MMA fighters from the same city confers notability on both of them, rather than on neither. Boynamedsue (talk) 18:37, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
Boynamedsue As I mentioned I do take Guardian source for it meet the guard lines (do note: both article is about the same event public within 2 days different by the same author), other sources are either sport routine reports or not independent or reliable, we need more independent, reliable sources for subject to pass notability guidelines and not only a few or those about routine sport report . Khamzat Chimaev was well known world wide after his first UFC appearance and his page was accepted after his 3rd fight in UFC. UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Aspinall will be held in London and subject teammate Molly McCann has a fight good on the card and so are Aspinall, Till and Mokaev and I am positive, Pimblett, Jack Shore, Arnold Allen will have fight booked soon. Hopefully we would see Chris Fishgold, Mike Grundy, Lerone Murphy, Davey Grant, Nathaniel Wood and Paul Craig in the event as well. Not long, Bonyamedsue, 6 weeks, paddy would have page. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 05:49, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
Fair enough, but I disagree with your view. The Independent and the Guardian sources are enough on their own. I'm going to add them to the draft and reinstate the article this weekend, if you feel strongly that it shouldn't be there, we can discuss it at the AfD. All the best, BNS. Boynamedsue (talk) 05:56, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
F:Boynamedsue No sure why you disagree with me as I mentioned Guardian sources are good but for a page to pass notability, it needs to have more than 2 sources. Pls note popularity does not mean notability. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 06:05, 4 May 2022 (UTC)

UFC France - A thank you and a credit :)

Hi there, thanks for that info and edit, I appreciate it and that's perfectly fine so I don't mind and thank you! Just while I think on, BJ Penn's website have also added the info about the event being in France too on September 3rd here: https://www.bjpenn.com/mma-news/ufc/ciryl-gane-vs-tai-tuivasa-targeted-as-ufc-france-main-event-in-september/, so it will go ahead and it is significantly the first UFC event in France after MMA was cleared just before the pandemic, so once this goes up to the main article it's definitely worthwhile noting that on the main page of the event too.

I'll let you add the event when you feel you want to and are ready to, and of course when you feel it's right but I just wanted to let you know as BJPenn.com is probably one of the most reliable sources to the company, specially considering BJ Penn is a former contender in many divisions and is seen as a huge credit to the company but again, I'll let you work on this and sort it out as and when you're ready to as it is missing from the up coming events at the moment (there's a few events after this which are confirmed) but just wanted to give you a heads up :)

UFC Beavis (talk) 12:59, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

UFC Beavis Good day and thank you for the message. Pls note that we dont add bouts or events if they are targeted, plan, verbally agreed, rumous, in work but officially set/confirmed/signed bouts and events. the above source (bjpenn) provided states the event is targeted for such we can use the info. Thank you for your contribution. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk
Cassiopeia Well, it says it's set not targeted in the main article, only the headline says "targeted" but then the article goes on to say "the UFC is set to hold its first MMA in France on September 3rd" which you mentioned "officially set/confirmed/signed bouts and events" as the article states. However yeah, I'll let you work on it anyway but I do feel this needs to be added sometime soon and wanted to kindly give you a heads up as it does need to be noted specifically that this is the first UFC event in France since MMA was cleared there. Hope this helps :) UFC Beavis (talk) 16:30, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
UFC Beavis If the title and the body of the source is conflicted, then we might not able to use. Secondly, we can create an article with only one source but multiple independent, reliable sources. Thirdly, there is not point (red ink) to add the info on the list of ufc event as there is no article yet. Pls wait. I usually create all the ufc event for I read all the mma news daily including France mma media outlets. When the event is confirmed, many news medias will publish the info. Thank you for your contribution and enjoy the event today. Cassiopeia talk 22:15, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
Yeah that's not a problem, it's all about contributing for me (I don't like ego, which I don't mean towards you of course, I just mean in general) so just add the event as and when you feel ready to :). Yeah I'm sure something will come soon to confirm this, it doesn't have to be on the UFC or ESPN website to have the article created does it? They're often pretty slow to update to be honest too, so it's good we've got other sources we can use before hand :)
It's looking like Arnold Allen will be on the France card too, he tweeted that he was offered a fight there and confirmed he won't be on the UK card; from what I can gather it's going to be a really good event and they're going to really go all out for their debut in France, it should be good!! :)
Thanks for the kind reply :) UFC Beavis (talk) 14:29, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
UFC Beavis I have no problems which editor edit/contribute the content and actually happy to see and know more positive and constructive editors joining the community and work together/collaborate to improve the content. I am on different time zone than most of MMA editors, most new event announcement usually public not on waking hours of US time zones, so I am the one usually create the pages. I am positive an event will be hold in France sometime this year by UFC, but we can use UFC or ESPN (not independent since they have 7 years business contract with UFC) to create an article. When the event is confirmed, all MMA media will announce it immediately for it is a big news not only for MMA, UFC but France. Thank you so much for the contribution and your assistance. Appreciate it. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 23:37, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
Aww you're welcome! Yeah you do a wonderful job here, I notice your edits and work all the time and it's fantastic!! Yeah, I hear you with the time zones haha Yeah, it's a huge thing for them in France for sure, MMA was cleared I think around February 2020 in France if I remember correctly and then the pandemic kicked in so they were never able to go there, it'll be the first time for the UFC in France so it should be really good for them, I think they'll go all out for the card.
News last night too was Kaitlyn Chookagian was offered Manon Fiorot also for the card in France after Kaitlyn called her out last weekend so it looks like this could be a potential match up, as well as Arnold Allen on there and of course Gane and Tuivasa if that goes ahead. Of course, all this could change in regards to what bouts are booked for the card but they're definitely going all out on it and will no doubt deliver a fantastic event! :)
We definitely need to get some update in regards to this being significant once the page is up for the event, it's something people will look for in the future many events down the line in France so will be pretty good for the event I reckon :)
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for the kind replies, you do a wonderful job here and I appreciate you so thank you!! :)
