Hi, Cassidy?

Problem: you've been uploading screenshots of websites that aren't your website, and you've been labeling them "own work". You can't do that.

Just because you pressed the "print screen" button, that doesn't make it "your own work". It's still an image of the other website, and the copyright still belongs to the people who own that website. Even if you mark them as "fair use", that's still not okay: "fair use" only applies to images that are actively being used in articles. If they're only being used in userpages, that's not allowed.

All the images you've uploaded... have to be deleted. I'd appreciate it if you could spread the word to your many, many, many classmates: STOP UPLOADING SCREENSHOTS OF WEBSITES AS 'FAIR USE'. Sorry if this seems a bit grumpy, but I've been tracking down and purging these images for over an hour, so I'm a bit worked up about it. DS (talk) 19:11, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh, also -- it's only allowed to upload images as "fair use" if they're actually being used in articles. If they're not in articles, they get deleted. DS (talk) 20:02, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Screenshothierarchy.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Screenshothierarchy.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
