August 2016 edit

  Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Judith H. Myers. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Carries mum. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Donna Strickland, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 14:12, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Toddst1, I am very well aware of these rules. I teach them to students in annual "How to become a Wikipedian" international Ada Lovelace Day workshops. Please rest assured, that I have no COI here.

I was very surprised (and thrilled) to meet Nobel Laureate, Professor Strickland, last Thursday at an Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council consultation on equity and diversity in STEM. She had, apparently, been there all day.

Colleagues, who have attended some of my Wikipedia workshops, introduced her to me. Prof. Strickland immediately asked me why her children were not being listed on her page, and why when someone added info about them, this was deleted. I explained that children of notable persons can be listed. We have now resolved this because a Globe and Mail article discussed her children.

all the best, Carries mum (talk) 14:36, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for November 4 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mary Eleanor Power, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Eel River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:50, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
