Re: No Jacket Required: FA?

Hi CarpetCrawler. I don't see a reason why not to nominate it, but keep in mind that I'm not terribly familiar with music articles. Also, my copyediting skills aren't perfect, so the prose may needs some last-minute tweaking. Some of the sections are rather small (not sure if they could be merged), and some are large and could be broken up. One last thing; make sure the references are all reliable. These are some things that might come up at FAC. Cheers, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 05:05, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good. Good luck with the article, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 05:23, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Sure, I'll look over it in the coming days. It's actually one of my favorite albums. — Realist2 11:56, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
You might also want to set up a peer review, see WP:PR. If you mention on the peer review that you need specific advise on getting it to featured statues you should get some help. I'll be along in the coming days. — Realist2 12:45, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh indeed it has, this means your off to a good start. If you've done everything in that peer review there are no problems asking for yet another. None the less I'll give the article my comments soon. Have a good day. Best. — Realist2 16:44, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm so sorry, I've been rather busy on Wikipedia recently, long story...I'll check out the article later today. — Realist2 18:05, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Review here, let me know when that's done and I'll give it a second work. — Realist2 23:18, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I just noticed you've left Wikipedia? I hope your OK, if its an "on wiki" issue I think I know what it's about. Please email me if I can help in any way. — Realist2 23:34, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

CBS Reports: The Homosexuals

Thanks for the kind words. The only really weak section right now is the Segments section. I haven't been able to find descriptions and I'm not about to spend close to 100 bucks to buy the video. I've also not read the contemporary reviews in their entirety; everything that's there is from second-hand sources so direct quotes from them would be very beneficial. Really, anything you might happen to run across is going to be helpful. Otto4711 (talk) 04:35, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Userbox for GA reviews

The userbox {{User Good Articles reviewed}} has been updated so that it can now link to a page in your user subspace where you keep track of all your GA reviews, if you have such a page. This can be done by adding a | and then the name of your user subpage (or subsection of your regular user page) wherever you have the template called. For example, on my user page I am using

{{User Good Articles reviewed|6|User:Rjanag/GA reviews}}

which displays as

This user has reviewed 6 Good Article nominations on Wikipedia.

There is more information on how to do this at Template:User Good Articles reviewed.

Note: If you are not interested in doing this, you don't have to do anything; the template will still work for you exactly as it does now.

CBS Reports

The article needs more information about the individual segments and the lead needs to be expanded. I have no intention of spending $80 on a copy of the video and my local library doesn't have it, which is why I haven't done that previously. Otto4711 (talk) 16:48, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

It could be a tricky one. Your best bet is to bring it up at WT:SSP. The users there will know all the ins and outs as well as precedent, so it should be possible to get a consensus on what to do next. In WP:BRD we have essentially reached the D and taking it to discussion will avoid cycles of BR which go nowhere. (Emperor (talk) 00:36, 27 February 2009 (UTC))

I'm afraid I've not really got anything else - it is a bit of an obscure problem so possibly doesn't come up that often (although I bet it as happened before). It is possible someone else might have some cunning suggestion - try posting a note at WT:CMC and see if anyone else can help. (Emperor (talk) 14:43, 7 March 2009 (UTC))
Looking at WT:SSP, it seems that being falsely / deliberately accused of sockpuppetry is quite common. It also appears that there really is nothing that can be done about it! Or, perhaps more accurately, that no-one in a position to do anything about it is sufficiently concerned by it to actually do anything about it. All it seems to take is for someone to make an accusation and for an administrator to agree with it no matter what the accused might say in their defence. In my case, it was a combination of bloody-minded petulance on the part of the editor who got me branded because consensus on the pages in question proved him wrong, coupled with the total inability / unwillingness of the administrator (thankfully now retired) to listen to me. Had he even bothered to spend a few minutes on the case, he would have seen that the small number of edits I made when I forgot to log on were in fact from the same IP address as all of those that I made when I did log on. How this could possibly have been (mis)interpreted as sockpuppetry is quite beyond me. MarkRae (talk) 15:59, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm very grateful for your continued efforts. MarkRae (talk) 23:25, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes that makes sense - someone should know the correct way of going about this. (Emperor (talk) 01:51, 12 March 2009 (UTC))
No problem. I'm afraid sometimes things fall between two stools and it often takes a bit of plugging away to get the answer - you did all the hard work so thanks for sorting it out. (Emperor (talk) 19:46, 14 March 2009 (UTC))

Katy Perry

Fair enough for failing the article. It was my fault, I concede, for writing the article that fast. I haven't checked the errors. However, in my experience of reviewing articles before, GAs are not that strict and the problems laid out in the review page could be addressed in a mere day or two to three days. I believe it does not meet only two to three of the criterion, prose and some inline citations, though I am sure every line there were completely based on sources. Anyway, thanks for the review. It helped a lot. --Efe (talk) 09:56, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

It's fine. You don't have to apologize. Sometimes, when an article needs a good copy edit, better fail them. Thanks for the review, though. It will help me fix what has to be done before renomination. Cheer. --Efe (talk) 04:48, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the barnstar! I actually "lost" the American International Group article for 12 minutes according to the logs. She moved it to American Internatioonal Grooup, and with me missing the misspelling of "Group" I moved it to American International Grooup and then deleted the redirect. So until I was able to track it down, the AIG article was orphan with zero pages linking to it. Up until I finally caught the misspelling, I was afraid I had deleted the actual article instead of the redirect! How embarrassing! Kralizec! (talk) 05:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to provide a second opinion, I appreciate the help. :) Also, I'll be waiting for your concerns to be dealt with. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:36, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Sure, I don't mind. However, if the user doesn't respond within seven days, then the article fails. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:11, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Its alright, I'm the same way, though I don't feel depressed, hopefully your depression isn't serious. ;) Um, sure let the user know what's going on and we can start the seven days as of right now, if that's alright with you. Oh, I've been in that situation, too. They nominate the article, but don't bother to fix the required comments, one of the things I really dislike in users, when they nominate articles. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:10, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Really? Maybe its the events that occurred today, perhaps someone got on your bad side, leading you to feel that way? People do that to me, but I don't get depressed, I get angry. Well, that's good, hopefully you feel that way this week; Phil Collins, hmmm, very interesting. ;) Anyways, the same here, take this article that I reviewed a while back, Dead Plane, not that many concerns were raised, just minor. I gave the article its seven days for review and no one bothered to fix what I had left. I'm the same when it comes to nominated article on hold, when I nominate something, I intend to fix what's asked of me. This is my thing, why waste someone's time when you don't want the same done to you, that's how I feel. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:30, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
That's good, your improving your state of mind. :) Totally, they say that, but don't want to be involved in anything that's related to it. Exactly, I had a couple of articles that have been on there for like three months or so and I have to wait, while others just nominate something that's common, but don't bother to do the actual work. Its very frustrating and it bothers me a lot. Something that you and I have in common. Which isn't a good thing, overall. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 19:46, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
The only thing to do, fail the article. If the user hasn't responded to your queries, then, the article does not meet the GA criteria. If the user wants to work on the article and nominate it in the future, let him [or her] do that. You know. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:40, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but the user left a comment at the GAN page saying that the he [or she] is going to resolve the issues, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what the results are. That's good, I'm glad your in a cheerful mood. :) Yes, all is well. Man, I didn't notice your message until I checked my userpage and clicked on "related changes", its a good thing I spot if not... You know, we should totally collaborate on a project, I think we're destined to do so. :P --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:03, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Me too, I don't like to be cruel, so let's give the user another chance. Exactly, I have a fun time working on articles, researching the unknown and understanding it more. :) To be honest, I'll contribute on anything that's related to music, since I think that's the only field you're working on. I don't know, would you be up for it? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:44, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, the researching is fun, but sometimes it can be excruciating. Overall, its necessary and for a good cause. :) Would you believe that I don't know any songs by Billy Joel or Elton John? LOL. Though, there's no harm in working on something new, so. If you want, we can work on that. Well, the only artists I've worked on are Coldplay and Yellowcard related songs. I get a sense that you're not really into bands, but just solo artists. Whatever you want to do is fine by me and yes we can work on this after NJR. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:10, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Not even. :( Oh, that's good that you're into them. What a relief. Well, I guess because of my age, that's why I'm into both Coldplay and Yellowcard. Though, I was a fan of both when I was 13, so. I like R.E.M. their music is pretty cool. Hmm, how 'bout Pearl Jam? Are you into them? Like I said, working on something new never hurts anyone, so if you want to work on both Billy Joel and Elton John, I would be more than happy to work with you... on them. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:29, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I know, me too. I love "Even Flow" its a great song. Yeah, "Better Man" is also a good song. Sure, after you're done, we can definitely work on both of them. Afterwards, I think we can definitely work on Lights and Sounds and "Rough Landing, Holly", and have ourselves a Good topic out of it. I happen to be a popular person that people want to talk too. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:27, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Its alright, no apology necessary. I love March Madness, too. Another thing we have in common. ;) Yeah, I saw that the user addressed your concerns, but I left one concern, if its fixed, I'll pass the article. Excellent, can't wait to start working with ya. Also, good luck on NJR. I'll be crossing my fingers so it can be promoted. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 14:56, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Boooooooooooooooooo. You have your hopes up for the bad teams. :) I'm putting everything on UCLA. I did, I left a "note" regarding my comment. Also, let the best team win, which I know will be mine. :P --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 16:53, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll give you that, but don't expect me to root for them. :) Yes, they had a close call, but they managed to pull it off, that's why the Bruins will get the break they deserve. Yeah, we'll see what goes from there. I doubt Louisville will take it. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:28, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, I appreciate the praise. I gotta tell you, this is the first time I've expanded an album article, and its so hard. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 03:18, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, its fun learning what the band was going through in the process of the album, but its so hard to figure what's important and what's not. This is how the article looked, before I began working on it, as oppose how it looks now. Absolutely, whatever the outcome is of Lights and Sounds I might work on another Yellowcard album and I'm looking forward to working with ya. :) Are you still watching the games? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 03:30, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, its been a while since we've last talked. The comment I left hasn't been concerned, so per the criteria, the article fails, since the seven days have passed. That's the only solution. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:17, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

It does stink, I don't like doing it, cause I know the user worked very hard on the article. But, at the same time there's the criteria and all. Good [so far], not much that I can complain about. Though, I am bummed that UCLA lost. How 'bout you? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:33, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

You men and your "brackets". ;) Luckily, I never had one, nor needed one. OMG, I love 'In Wikinews', very cleaver. Uggh, I know, when I open a PR, I get so lazy that I don't want to do the work. Example: Brad Pitt. I probably won't get to it later today or tomorrow. Yeah, I'm just waiting on Spring Break and I'm taking a break. FAC does take a whole lot out of you. I know, I've experienced it; Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kirsten Dunst. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:59, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Maybe you should resume the second section you created in my talkpage. :) Well, I was asked if I wanted to fill in a bracket chart, I declined, saying there was only one team for me. :) No, I lost a lot of money in last year's superbowl. Yeah, I hate the criticism that arises, but I have to fix it for the "standards". Cool, when the PR closes, I'll ask you for a "copy-edit" favour. ;) Yeah, when you do the work, it later pays-off, so that's one good thing out of it. Oh my, you and I both have spring break on the same day. :P Yes, good luck to you. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:06, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
It was a suggestion; I was about to archive when I realized that you commented on the thread I was about to "put away". I don't mind really, just that if you face my team, then you you're on my target list, for just that game. :) When it comes to the super bowl, there's a [losing] streak with me; Seahawks (2006), Bears (2007), Patriots (2008), and Cardinals (Super Bowl XLIII). Yeah, the comments are either "I don't understand what you mean by this" or "...this read awkwardly", etc. I "try" to explain my case, but it still doesn't make sense. So, you take their suggestions, instead. I know, I feel the same, like Who cares, I understand it, how come you can't, its not that complicated.. Exactly, there just there to give you another opinion from a different point-of-view. I will, you'll see a message with HELP. :P Psychology? Interesting, I wanted to take the class in high school, but the class was so popular, there weren't any spots open. :( --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:44, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry I'll let you know. Also, same here. I favoured the Patriots in 2002, 2004, and 2005, but I didn't get them right in 2008, which was very sad. I mean, they had a perfect streak during the season, and they lost at the super bowl. Let's see how the Pats play this year. You too, have a good one. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 19:31, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

RE: Heart and Soul (Huey Lewis and the News song)

Thank you for creating all these articles. You're finding the cover sleeves of the singles and everything. I'd never be able to find those. As you can tell, the band is a favorite of mine and I do have other details available to me. One of these days, I'm going to go through my old newspaper and magazine articles of the band to see if there's any pertinent info that I can add that I would then be able to source as well. Keep up the good work! --Wolfer68 (talk) 00:06, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for adding "The Heart of Rock & Roll". I'm glad to see all the big Sports hits with articles now. While it's one of my favorites and it was released as a video single, "Bad Is Bad" may not be notable enough for its own article, so any information you have or find on it may be better suited to the Sports article. Hopefully, I can retrieve more info to expand on the single articles you have added recently. I appreciate you getting these started because they deserve to be there. --Wolfer68 (talk) 07:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
My memory is that "Bad Is Bad" was not released as a single. Maybe outside the U.S.? I can remember an interview with Lewis saying the record company wanted to release "Bad Is Bad" as the sixth single from Sports, but he did not want to be overexposed, so they compromised and made a video for it without a radio or commercial release. Either way, I don't agree that any single release should be considered notable. I can try to provide a scan of my CD single for "It Hit Me Like a Hammer", which I bought separately because of the different mix it was given over the album version. In terms of targeting an article for GA, the best bets are "The Power of Love", "I Want a New Drug" and Sports. Good luck, and I will help out with what I can. I don't believe I have much in regards to their song origins, but I'll look. --Wolfer68 (talk) 16:34, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh wow, I'm flattered! It's my very first barnstar. Thank you! Shubinator (talk) 05:08, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again Carpet for passing another one of my nominations. Regards Frcm1988 (talk) 17:37, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

What do you think of the final version of "Open Your Heart"? Will it pass GA? --Legolas (talktome) 09:14, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry. I can't thank enough for what you have done. In the meantime Frcm1988 has started work on the "True Blue" article in his sandbox. Take a look. We are kinda short on the background of the song. Rest I'll take care. I'll be working on the "True Blue" album now. Let's finish of the true blue era and then I'll move on to.... well I don't know where I'll go. But maybe the "Like a Virgin" era. :-) --Legolas (talktome) 03:16, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Blondie

Hi Carpet, I believe User:Indopug is going to develop the article, Im don't know when but if you see User:Indopug/temp (S)he alredy have a lot about the song. I would love to do a Blondie song, actually "Rapture" is my favorite but I decided to do "Heart of Glass" because I couldn't find much about it. I believe there is more info about the two most famous songs, "Heart of Glass" and "Call Me". Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 21:30, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Re: Springfield NBA Development League team

Thanks for the positive message. I'm a big sports fan (like you, apparently) and proud to update the articles. Where better than the Birthplace of Basketball to put a team?

As far as affiliations go, I'd expect that they'll be announced soon after the NBA Finals. Thanks again for the positive message and I'll try to keep everybody updated on the whole thing! Peace, Tom Danson (talk) 18:53, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Madonna pages

Wooooooooooooo. Thanks Carpet. My first Barnstar!!!!! I'm so happy. Love u. --Legolas (talktome) 03:47, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

P.S. Hey Carpet, I just saw the wonderful work on NJR. One suggestion, can the music sample be put a little down in some other section? Its breaking the flow by creating a huge gap between the "Production" section title and the prose in the section. --Legolas (talktome) 05:33, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I always believe that music samples should be in the single pages, not in the album page and I follow that policy with my edits. So I think if its there in "Sussudio" no need to have it in the NJR article. PS, I don't know why but La Isla Bonita is still unlooked at GAN. :-( --Legolas (talktome) 05:49, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
