Speedy deletion nomination of User:CarolineLBoff

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:CarolineLBoff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. —Alalch E. 02:10, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at User:CarolineLBoff. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. —Alalch E. 02:11, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Alalch, Good to hear from you. OK but how do I create a Wikipedia page about myself without it being an autobiography? I really appreciate your help and I look forward to hearing from you. With Kindest Regards, Caroline Boff CarolineLBoff (talk) 02:22, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Caroline. Hope you're doing great. In theory, it would be appropriate to disclose your conflict of interest with respect to the topic (yourself), then create an article draft and submit it through the Articles for creation process. However, any Wikipedia page that you would create about yourself would always be exactly an autobiography, and creating an autobiography always remains strongly discouraged (as pointed out above), so the chances of this effort producing an actual Wikipedia article are negligible. Not worth your time. Sincerely—Alalch E. 02:32, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion

edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --CarolineLBoff (talk) 02:16, 19 June 2023 (UTC) it is a biography, accurate and factual. It is to the point and all of the photos are my own copyright. I am Caroline Louise Boff from and in the UK and my website is www.carolineboff.co.uk for further information about me. I highly contest this as I am notable and I do hold an important role in the art world.Reply

Your user page is meant to tell us a bit about yourself as a Wikipedia editor, and what you do in terns of editing Wikipedia. It is not a space for you to draft an article. I have moved it to your sandbox rather than delete it. Please note the message above about writing an autobiography. It is highly discouraged. -- Whpq (talk) 02:26, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have moved it to draft space—Draft:Caroline Boff.—Alalch E. 03:00, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi again Alalch, Good to hear from you again. What about if someone else wants to write about me on Wikipedia? With Kindest Regards, Caroline CarolineLBoff (talk) 03:07, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
That would be amazing, one could only hope that someone would want to write an encyclopedia article about them of their own free will, with no quid pro quo (in every possible sense, not just monetary). Rarely happens to an individual. Friendly regards—Alalch E. 03:28, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
