April 2024 edit

  Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.   Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. You deleted sources, added material not in sources making it appear it was sourced,changed spellings, linked to your version of an article when you created that as a copy of an existing one.   Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham and Kamakshi Amman Temple, you may be blocked from editing. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 16:09, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Be sure that the next misstep you make will result in a block. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 16:11, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Doug Weller and Bishonen: can one of you block this fellow? I issued the warning above at 16:11 (UTC); two minutes later diff they again changed "Kamakshi Amman Temple" to "Kamakshi Amman Temple" at Kamakshi Amman Temple. WP:NOTHERE. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 18:18, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Kamakshi Ambal Temple edit

The article Kamakshi Ambal Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Copy from Kamakshi Amman Temple.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 08:21, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've deleted the copy you made. edit

We don't need two articles and if you don't like the name you need to convince other editors using the talk page of the article you copied proving that your name is the most common English name. Copying like that is also a copyright violation. Doug Weller talk 11:34, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

April 2024: warning edit

Trying to stop Joshua Jonathan from editing Wikipedia pages relating to hinduism on the ground that he's not a Hindu is completely unacceptable. Anybody can edit any article, and another editor's religious convictions are no business of yours. Also, what you call "Hindu pages" aren't just for "your fellow Hindus", they're for all the readers of this international encyclopedia. You will be blocked from editing if you behave like that again.
