Geiringer image edit
Hello CaritasUbi, I'm thinking writing to UC Santa Barbara Special Collections to get permission to use their web-posted image of Karl Geiringer. But I need to check first if you've already asked them. If you've haven't, I'll go ahead. Yours truly, Opus33 (talk) 22:33, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen the picture (it would be perfect) and I've been trying to get in touch with them. I sent mail to the Head of the Department of Special Collections (see http://www.library.ucsb.edu/speccoll/support.html) and he responded but said he would have to forward the request to the manager of music-related items. I have not heard further. I sent the same request to the "webmaster feedback" page, but that's probably going nowhere. You're welcome to try - maybe snailmail would work better (?) - I just poked around further and found the contact page for the Department of Special Collections, Davidson Library, UCSB: http://www.library.ucsb.edu/speccoll/contact/units.html and I sent a permssion request to the first name under the "Performing Arts" department. - No, the UCSB people responded by email that it's not possible (they charge for photos and rarely own the copyright themselves). Dead end, I'm afraid.

Hi CaritasUbi, what happened to your great idea sorting the old articles regarding topic rather than age? I'm doing a lot at the moment in the area June/July/August 2007 and it would appear 20% of them are stubs about Indian villages or American Congressmen anyway.--Kojozone (talk) 20:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
