Caldwell Tackle

My view on the Caldwell 'tackle' - first off my initial edits were OTT. My latest edit was merely to change the term 'tackle' to 'foul' as you don't get booked for a clean tackle. I know Wiki is not a news site, but I think an event where Caldwell has potentially ended the career of an opponent should be kept on-screen at least until we know where Fernansez career goes after this.

I guess that's fine, I've just fixed vandalism on that page half a dozen times today. If other people think it is important, I'll just keep fixing it... Captkrob 02:38, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:779.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:779.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I've posted a question on the Image copyright help page and am awaiting a response. Captkrob 00:23, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
This is a tricky one. In times gone by I would have said just tag it with {{promophoto}} however this relies on our WP:Fair use policy, which has since undergone some changes most notably - Fair use criteria #1. Which now seems to suggest that promo photos only being used to portray someones appearance are no longer fair use. There is currently some fairly intense debate on the pro and con side of this argument. For now I would tag it as {{promophoto}} but be warned that it may get tagged as {{rfu}} and deleted.
You really have two options - contact the club directly explain that you are putting together webpages for their players - and you would like them to release the images under the GFDL (see WP:ERP). The other option is to take some photographs of the players and release them under GFDL yourself. Megapixie 01:09, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Well seeing as how I don't live in Scotland, the 2nd option is really out of the question. I'll put up the {{promophoto}} and if the club eventually responds to the email, I'll change it to what they say. Thanks! Captkrob 01:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Please see {{promophoto}}, which says pretty clearly that "fair use images of living people that merely show what they look like to be replaceable by free images and unsuitable for the project." (emphasis in original)
Unless the team decides to release the image under a free license (a "Wikipedia-only" release is not good enough) the image is unlikely to be accepted. Also, just because you don't live in Scotland and can't take a picture doesn't mean someone else couldn't, so the image is still replaceable. Consider posting a message to the player's talk page asking anyone in Scotland to snap a photo for you.  Anþony  talk  14:48, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

In regards to your comment in Talk:TPS_report I would like to note that the definition of an acronym depends on it's usage. Even though TPS means one thing to you, it meaning is different to others. Way of life… but as far as the article? Yeah, it is a bullshit article. Heck, its ‘topic’ changes because of lousy idiotic wikipedian idiots who like to add SHIT into good articles.

The article is originally linked as Test Procedure Specification (Report)… obviously the acronym was too much for some people, and several other articles are compiled on top of it. Tis the way of wikipedia, if it isn’t broken… be sure to break it, and fast.

Hell, I might as well see if I can get away with disambiguating the article… probally only gonna be reverted anyways (did I mention how much I love people who randomly revert changes just for the hell of it. (and it IS against WP:Policy)).

So just leave wikipedia… no one USES IT… people just CHANGE STUFF because it makes them feel special. WOO, I added in a totally useless section to an article that has nothing to do with it… I am COOL.

Well, all I can say is that if someone is really committed to maintain a page, Wikipedia provides tools to allow the serious editor to manage the page over the less serious. I suggest doing a disambig page, let me know if there ends up being some kind of vote on it. Captkrob 15:01, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

You're right, thanks for that. I will amend it. --Guinnog 16:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Image:779.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:779.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 05:37, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Not that a bot will respond to this, but it looks like its already started the process of removing the picture. Captkrob 20:22, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Categories (Buck and Albert families)

You can get a better idea of what I am trying to do with these types of categories by looking at my user page. I admit I have not done much with this since last month. However, I think it is the type of thing that could fill itself in. For some reason, I though there were 3 or 4 Albert brothers when I created the category. Maybe the announcer category is not a good one for families. Any thoughts? TonyTheTiger 21:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Language Computer Corporation

I have nominated Language Computer Corporation, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Language Computer Corporation. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. VG 01:15, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Celtic F.C. task force

Hello, you have a userbox which suggests you are a fan of Celtic F.C. I am hoping to start up a task force for Celtic at WikiProject Football.
If you are interested please reply here. Thanks. Adam4267 (talk) 19:40, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
