The Perl article will be moved from Perl to Perl (programming language) to fall into the same systematic naming scheme like Python, Ruby and others.

Yes, but the language is still the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of Perl. If you have a read of Talk:Perl/Archive_7#Requested_move, there was unanimous opposition to changing this the last time it was proposed. That was 2009, so if you'd like to move Perl to Perl (programming language), you could request it Talk:Perl. Deletion of Exsite Webware (software)

I posted the following on the User talk page of User:RHaworth because you both seem to be involved in the speedy deletion of a page I've worked on in the past, and I'm not sure who to address these remarks to:

"Can you explain why you speedy-deleted this 2-yr old page? It was quite useful for developers looking to understand the origins of this useful package. Your explanation didn't make much sense, so we out here in radio-land would sure appreciate knowing what you were thinking when you did this. If you can't "undelete" it, could you at least point us to the text of the most recent version so we'd have a decent chance of recreating it? I was just involved in trying to get the developers to upload their logo (which I can't do because I'm not the owner of the logo). There's quite a lot of work there that you flushed down the toilet and, if nothing else, I'd like to get it back.

"PS: Is it you (RHaworth) who deleted this page, or someone else (a "Captain Conundrum")? The message on my talk page was signed by "Captain Conundrum", but the deletion info on the Exsite Webware page was signed by you (RHaworth). I'm also puzzled by the "copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites" label. I wrote some of the original contributions, and none of it was copied. Now that you've deleted the page, I can't verify or dispute what you're saying since others may have added to the article in the 2 years that it has been in place. Or perhaps Exsite Webware lifted the WP article for their own page. Please restore the article ASAP. It doesn't deserve Speedy Deletion especially since it was in place for several years, and it's original content. Then we (editors) can figure out what was going on. Hi, it was me who nominated it for deletion, and it was the WP administrator RHaworth who agreed and deleted it. Yes there was some original content, but most of it was identical to content on their website. Articles can be undeleted by administrators, so if you ask RHaworth (or any administrator) they can re-check it for you to see if we made a mistake. The really awkward position you have created is that I have no idea what you're referring to since the article was deleted. There's no way I can even discuss what you're suggesting without being able to see the article. Please be careful in future that you don't cause a lot of unnecessary distress and overload due to this kind of clumsy and ham-fisted action. Santamoly (talk) 05:24, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

I was very careful, and I'm sure RHaworth was too. I see from User talk:RHaworth#Deletion of Exsite Webware (software) that you're currently in the middle of an email exchange with him or her about this. But most of the article was identical to content from the Exsite Webware pages, which clearly displayed a copyright notice, and the Exsite pages had no date on them for comparison with the WP article's edit history. For legal reasons, Wikipedia admins must err on the side of caution when there's an apparent breach of copyright, so please don't take the deletion as criticism. It's also possible, as you seem to be suggesting above, that Exsite did copy back content from Wikipedia, and then slapped a copyright notice on the Creative Commons licensed content. If so, then let's sort out the error, and the pages can then be undeleted. If you want to speak to a different administrator about this, then please have a read of WP:Requests for undeletion. Thanks for your reply. I see that there are some instances of phrases, or word-sets, that are identical, for example "ExSite Webware is LAMP-compatible", and Wikipedia policy says that these can be enclosed in quotes and attributed to whoever claims ownership of the word-set. Wikipedia copyright policy also says that fair dealing applies where the purpose of using another's words is for educational purposes, and that fair dealing is permitted. Wikipedia:Copyright violations suggests that the page should be tagged first, before deletion, if the page contains only SOME contested content:

Quoting from Wikipedia:Copyright violations:"Handling of suspected violations of copyright policy depend on the particulars of a given case. If you suspect a copyright violation but are uncertain if the content is copyrighted or whether the external site is copying from Wikipedia, you should at least bring up the issue on that page's discussion page, if it is active. In that case, please tag the page, unless your concerns are swiftly resolved. Others can then examine the situation and take action if needed. The most helpful piece of information you can provide is a URL or other reference to what you believe may be the source of the text. You may also make a note of your concerns at Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems.

"Some cases will be false alarms. For example, text that can be found elsewhere on the Web that was in fact copied from Wikipedia in the first place is not a copyright violation – at least not on Wikipedia's part. In these cases, it is a good idea to make a note of the situation on the discussion page. Also, if the contributor is the copyright holder of the text, even if it is published elsewhere under different terms, they have the right to post it here under CC-BY-SA and GFDL – the text may still be unsuitable for Wikipedia for another reason, but it is not a copyright violation. "If the criteria for speedy deletion do not apply, you should blank the article or the appropriate section with the subst:copyvio template, and list the page at Wikipedia:Copyright problems; see instructions. This will give interested contributors a week to verify permission for the text or propose a rewrite. If, after a week, the page still appears to be a copyright infringement and no usable rewrite is proposed, it may be deleted by any administrator or reduced to a non-infringing stub."

Can we start by quoting the contested word-sets and republishing the article? Or doing as the above policy quote suggests, tagging the article with a copy-vio tag, and the proceeding with the required house-cleaning. Then we could encourage all involved to clean up their word-sets that are in quotes. It doesn't sound too difficult, and it is all fair-dealing anyway. Or shall I lay out both pages here on your talk page? Then we could all see and debate the various word-pairs, etc, until everyone agrees that the article is "clean" in absolute copyright terms (not just fair-dealing terms). I see that you've requested that RHaworth send you the deleted article: please don't post it here. You could re-create the article at a user subpage, e.g. User:Santamoly/Exsite Webware, and re-write the copyrighted text there. The two Exsite pages that I found matching the article were at [1] and [2], though there may be more: I gave up hunting after finding two. Since you're both involved in the deletion, and you are disputing the notability aspect of the article even after the copyright issues are sorted out, I'll have to keep posting notability issues here. You are what is commonly called the "key person" in the discussion. No point in ignoring your significant presence in the middle of this particular china shoppe! So, from your remarks above, the plan appears to be that RHaworth is to deal with the copyright issue, and you will oversee the notability question. Am I correct? Help me understand where you are coming from on this matter. On the one hand, you said above,"Notability is determined by consensus of any Wikipedia editors who wish to be involved," suggesting that others might be concerned with notability, but you're the only person to have raised the issue in about 2 years. So am I correct that you're the one person on this earth who is concerned about its notability? If we can have a meeting of minds, just we two, on notability, does that mean we can move forward? ManyDesigns Portofino

Hi, i wrote you in reply of your email about my contribution at ManyDesigns Portofino page. Yes, I'm one of the developer of the product, that is open source, LGPL, and downloadable at SourceForge (so no commercial). This time my only contribution was to update product version, I didn't think that it is a potential problem.

I read all the link that you point out to me, and i had a similar discussion in the Italian section of wikipedia in which i discussed how i followed all wikipedia directives. Hello, and welcome. There's no problem with updating product versions and that sort of thing, but the article as a whole reads a bit like an advertisement for the product. I'll make some edits to fix that.

Hi Captain Conudrum, thanks for your answer. Portofino is an open source product downloaded 31.000 (moreover) from 139 countries, see stats on sourceforge. We are linked in groovy websites (http://groovy.codehaus.org/Related+Projects), postgresql (http://www.postgresql.org/download/products/1/), stripes (http://www.stripesframework.org/display/stripes/Stripes+Around+The+Web). It was selected in 2009 among the best european open source projects at open innovation awards in France. We made seminars at Java User Groups around Italy, and Free university of Bozen and at University of Genoa. We are not big, but I hope we are notable in the open source scenario. Hello, I recived the message about the Jaws Project page. The original page had been deleted over two years ago, in 2010, but since then, much has changed.

The new page has been deleted so fast that I haven't had the time to reply and then there was no discussion.

Please, consider that the new page is not a copy of the 2010 deleted page, because it's an original work written by me.

I can't read the 2010 page, can you? If you can, please, could you copy and paste the old page in my talk page, so that I can give it a read?

Hi, no I'm not an admin so I can't read it either. But the admin who deleted it was INeverCry: you could ask him/her to undelete it to a user subpage for you to work on it. But please note that it also didn't say anything about how it's notable, so before you re-create it as a new article, please have a read of WP:Notability, or someone else will just delete it again. Deletion of ManyDesigns Portofino

Hi, I saw that you have "speed deleted" our page "ManyDesigns Portofino", and I would try to understand the causes and to solve the problems, instead to contest the speed deletion. As I said in my previous comment, the first version of this page was made by an unknown user, who cut and paste some information from our website. And it was deleted. So we decided to write a page to describe the product in an objective way. That's why we start to write the page on our behalf.

About notability, i can ask to Open World Forum the list of candidates in 2009 (among others "Portofino") if you want, and i can't send you the response (contact me at granatella@gmail.com). Unfortunately the page of that event no longer exist. As i said before we are linked in the website of postgresql (DB), groovy (scripting language) and stripes (web framework), those are all in english. We was linked by Sun (now Oracle), among products certified for Java Powered for the Enterprise Directory, http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javaee/directory-141301.html

Any language is fine, so don't worry about using non-English sources, but the sources you cite above appear to be mostly self-published, and therefore not useful as evidence of notability. You can re-write the article, using Wikipedia:Articles for creation, and it will get reviewed for notability, but as for me, it doesn't look as if it will meet English Wikipedia's criteria for notability yet. Let me explain u: first I think the article name should even changed to "Cabinet of North Korea". we talk about the executive branch of the north Korean political system, and it is the north Korean cabinet (sometimes called government). As for the he section about the songun, it can be written in the article Politics of North Korea, which describes the north Korean political system. as for this article, Government of North Korea, more should be written about the role of the north Korean government (cabinet) in the political system. for example its responsible mainly for implementing economic policy which is seted by the Workers' Party.

I also would to ask if its possible to change the article name to "Cabinet of North Korea". Honestly, I think the article was called in the past Cabinet of North Korea and I changed it to the current name but it was mistake, or at least inaccurate. The north Korean constitution uses the term Cabinet. and as specified: "Cabinet is the administrative and executive body of the highest organ of State power and a general state management organ." Hello, and welcome! I'd be happy to help. Rather than point you at lots of documentation to read about how to add different kinds of references, it would probably be easier to start by just adding in that excellent reference that you've found. For which part of the text did you want that to be a reference? Using it for more than one part of the article is fine: there's a little trick we can use to make one reference get used in several places in an article, kind of like an "Ibid." in an academic paper. Hello. I was going partly on WP:STANDALONE and WP:LISTCRUFT, and partly on the more general guidelines under WP:Notability. Lists of software tend to attract additions of every implementation out there, notable or non-notable. Sometimes it seems to be promo by the application's creator, and sometimes it seems to be well-meant additions by editors trying to make the most complete list possible. But if a list is full of redlinks, referenced only by a link to a project page or vendor's website, then it can turn it into a WP:Linkfarm. I personally think that lists of software should only include a redlink to a product if there's a link to the product's creator or vendor, so for example if Linus Torvalds or Microsoft have created a WebSocket implementation, then a redlink is worth including in the list, with a reference to a WP:Reliable source, with a working internal link to the creator in the adjacent column. That can encourage creation of articles later about notable implementations, or even just redirecting and then adding a referenced section to the target article. Ah sorry, my mistake, thanks for picking that up. Very similar names in English, though I'd imagine that they're easily distinguishable in Chinese. "Category:Ships of the PLA Navy" should be removed as a parent category of "Category:Ships of the China Marine Surveillance", which I also created. There should be some sort of ship-related parent category on there though, rather than just MOT of the PRC. Shall I add "Category:Ships of China" as a parent? A new editor overwrote that talk page with an article on a movie, and then duplicated it at the (empty) Main Page/Archives. I saw Main Page/Archives, and thought he'd simply put the article in the wrong namespace, so I renamed it to the name of the film, and kept the "also move talk page" box ticked. That was a fine array of speedy reasons for Lady G just now - G4, G5, A7 and, I think, G3 hoax as well, because I don't find any trace of them except in Facebook, Twitter and the like, and the claim that she was at Prince William's wedding seems to be false. It could well be a hoax, but a new youth player might not have a listing on Soccerway. But db-hoax is for blatant hoaxes only. If the article said that he "scored the first goal in the ninth minute in the 2002 World Cup", then that would be grounds for speedy. But players younger than 15 have played professionally (Freddy Adu, for example), and there was a 12-year old who appeared in a pro match in Bolivia not long ago. That's the slightly unhinged world of football for you. :-) It's a possible hoax, so it's worth adding the {{hoax|date=June 2013}} tag since we can't find anything about him online. Flame Retardant Curtain Fabrics

Captain, I think you are incorrect, i wrote the page on flame retardant curtain fabrics and i wrote it based on the knowledge of my company who are flame retardant curtain fabric manufactures. As per an encyclopedia you need to give credit for knowledge and we wrote the page and we are also a font of knowledge on FR fabrics. So i believe the content should remain.

I also think i should be the main author of this page. How would i go about doing this

There are no main authors of pages on Wikipedia, as described in WP:Ownership of articles. I'm not sure what you mean by "credit for knowledge". If you mean that you should be rewarded for writing the article by having sales links to your company on the page, then no, nobody gets that kind of credit here. It's great that you're contributing about a subject in which you've got expertise, but please have a read of WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Spam. Hi, have a read of WP:WEB for notability guidelines. In general, not many websites are notable a few months after that they launch, unless they do something unusual, or meet with sudden success.
