Addition of links to Taunton and local pages edit

Thanks for your message. The links you added to several articles for Taunton and surrounding areas appear to be spam promoting a particular web site (whether "official" or not) and I don't think they add anything to the encyclopedic content. If, as you say you are the councils marketing manager then you should be aware of wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. You give the impression of being a single-purpose account while this can be really useful as someone has particular interest or expertise in an area, it can also be worrying when all you are doing is adding external links to a site you manage. By the way, when you post messages on a talk page it is helpful to sign your message with ~~~~.— Rod talk 08:02, 20 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have checked other destination pages and the official tourism site has been listed, can you explain why this is not possible for Taunton? ----
I think it depends on whether it is seen as promotional spam or adds useful encyclopedic content. On Taunton I deleted a deadlink to "Heart of Somerset" & moved the one about regeneration to external links rather than the infobox, but the "town centre" one appeared to be just adverts for shops, which is against wikipedia's policies. If you think this is inappropriate go to the talk page attached to the article and start a discussion there, so that we can get the opinion of other editors.— Rod talk 20:45, 20 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
