Welcome!

Hello, Capewinelandsairfield, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Fisantekraal Airfield, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Fisantekraal Airfield, and I noticed that your username, "Capewinelandsairfield", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:14, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I temporarily un-did the change to Fisantekraal Airfield

edit

Please put a note on Talk:Fisantekraal Airfield with evidence from reliable sources which are not connected to the airport or its owners or managers that will verify that the name has changed. Put the following in your message:

{{edit COI}}

Once that is done, someone with no "conflict of interest" in the topic will make the change and move the page for you. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:19, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, Capewinelandsairfield, does not meet our username policy. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have selected a new username that meets the username policy guidelines, which are summarized below.
Per the username policy, a username should represent an individual and should not: represent a group or organization; be promotional; be misleading (such as indicating possession of special user rights or being a ”Bot" account (unless approved for such purposes)); be offensive or otherwise disruptive. However, a username that contains the name of a organization and also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or “FoobarFan87" is allowed, though, among others, the guidance on conflict of interest and the policy of paid-contribution disclosure are relevant.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our username policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice.

Proposed Changes

edit

Good Day

I work for the company who owns the Cape Winelands Airfield. We have renamed it to Cape Winelands Airport as it is more correct and accurate, and because our operating license has been issued in the name of Cape Winelands Airport, not Airfield. Our Google Business Account is also in the name of Cape Winelands Airport.

Please could you therefore change the title of the page to "Cape Winelands Airport"? If required, I can provide a copy of our operating license issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority which is in the correct name of "Cape Winelands Airport".

Thanks

Hello there! Is this your website? I am reluctant to change the article's title when what appears to be Cape Winelands' official website and Twitter still go by "Airfield." Please clarify if your renaming has been finalized. If it is not yet final, please submit a second edit request when the renaming is indeed complete. Best, Altamel (talk) 02:47, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Good Day

I appreciate your response and understand your reasoning for declining my request. The renaming is complete and we have now updated our Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts to "Airport". Our website is taking a bit longer because we are making some wholesale changes.

Please see below for links to our social media accounts which all contain the updated name, as well as a media article published today with confirmation from our director of the new name:

https://www.biznews.com/sa-investing/2021/03/02/rob-hersov-lanseria-of-cape-town Twitter: @cw_airport Instagram: @cape_winelands_aero LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cape-winelands-airport

Thanks --Capewinelandsairfield (talk) 20:45, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Done. With the updated website, it appears that the renaming is complete. Additionally, I have independently determined that "Cape Winelands Airfield" is the WP:COMMONNAME for the article subject, as a Google search of results from within the last month shows that "Airfield" is used more commonly than "Airport." Considering that you are only blocked because of your username, I have gone ahead and completed your request. Altamel (talk) 03:47, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Changes v2

edit

Hi there

Following from my first request and it's resulting decline of it, we have updated all of our social media pages and website from "Airfield" to "Airport" as well. This Wikipedia page is now the last to be renamed.

I trust that this is now in order and that there is no more evidence of bias, and that this page could therefore be renamed to "Cape Winelands Airport".
