Request for edit summary edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

RE: Greek letters edit

Hi there! I hope you're well; thanks for your note. I used Swis721Greek BT and SymbolProp BT variants to render the letters, both of which slightly differ from the font names you've provided ... I HATE using Arial :) I also tweaked them graphically. If you'd like for me to produce alternate or high-resolution versions, etc., let me know! E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 13:40, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Let me check: nope, no bold (precise font names above; corrected). Also note, though, that I used CorelDraw to render the letters and slightly tweaked some of them, so the images may exhibit slightly altered versions of the bona fide characters. I hope this helps. E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 13:50, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
OK; I'll send the fonts to you tomorrow. Pleasant dreams! E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 13:54, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nice edit

Found you in the edit-history and wondered - how do you write for the chinese wp without your government knowing? AFAIK they're blocking wikipedia as good as they can... Well, but probably you're one of the bad-bad individualists of Taiwan? Or Hong Kong? Well, just guessing ;-) ... --PSIplus   20:30, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chinese numerals edit

Hello, 百家姓之四 (whatever may be your name in latin characters). Although I've really no idea about chinese language and numerals, I translated that article to Spanish wikipedia (earlier Spanish article was very defficient). And I added an image instead of descriptions of huāmǎ characters. My image was erased from the article twice:

  1. It had an error in nine numeral.
  2. Patch redirection does not work in Wikicommons, and image was not displayed.

So I ask to you if you can check the image, add the fourth numeral variant and indicate the stroke order, if it's not much work to you. Thank you very much.

Note: Be careful with my English: I can know a lot of words, but I'm not a native speaker. Sorry.

Hello! edit

I took the liberty of fixing up your user page, there were a few grammar mistakes, but otherwise your English is quite good! I definitely think you should upgrade to at least en-2! -- Best Regards, PerfectStorm 01:59, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Best compliments? Now I'm touched:) Anyways, enjoy yourself, Wikipedia is a great project! Proud to contribute. Regards, PerfectStorm 02:08, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

User name edit

Hello 百家姓之四, welcome to Wikipedia!

Please consider changing your username to one with only alphanumeric characters (English alphabets and numbers)). Although it is not an offensive username, the English Wikipedia tends to object to non-alphanumeric characters in usernames, because people who do not have Chinese fonts in their computers will not be able to see your username properly.

You can make a request to change your username at Wikipedia:Changing username. Regards, Kimchi.sg 04:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

They will also not be able to type it and will just call you "that Chinese dude" --mboverload@ 02:19, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yea, I agree with Kimchi. 对不起!And for the record, it's pronounced something like "bye jia may zh-e s-uh" (damn Chinese is hard to pronounce using English sounds). Hope you consider changing it once you come back. :-) 谢谢您。再见!Sasquatch t|c 21:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I too agree. I am sorry to put you in this position, however on the english wikipedia it would be helpful to other users if your username used roman characters. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 04:16, 4 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Isn't that quite offensive?. that chinese dude? come on, please stop that. I think anything it is an excuse to ignorance of foreign languages. However, it would be nice to see a pinyin romanization of your user name. If you feel this is the way you like it, leave it as currently is. I dont see if there is a violation of some sort of wikipedia policy but i like your style :) , cheers and welcome to wikipedia.--HappyApple 02:26, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't see the problem with non-Latin characters in usernames. Everyone should be using unicode these days, and people have 100s of fonts installed, so why not have just one for displaying each foreign character set? And who types other people's usernames in rather than pasting anyway? I think the pinyin version should be Baijia xingzhisi. Perhaps people persist, rather than change your username, you could just use a custom signature. JRawle (Talk) 12:04, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I'm going to add my voice to those asking you to change user name. The problem is not reading it, it is typing it, which I cannot do. The relevant policy to take into account is WP:USERNAME, subsection: "Names with non-Latin characters" (Under "Inappropriate Usernames".) --Storkk 13:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I add my voice here. Not all computers can read Chinese. Also, changing user name is easy.

Your opinion? edit

Dear... Sir. (Or 百家姓之四.)

I understand that you are a resident of the people's republic of China, and opposed to the internet censorship that goes on there. I was curious if you could give me your opinions on the censorship that goes on in China. You can remain anonymous, if you wish, but I would appreciate it if you could render any assistance to what is happening in China, by explaining your views to me.

Thank you for your time. Scalene 08:08, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi There! Can you translate my name in what language you know please, and then post it Here. I would be very grateful if you do (if you know another language apart from English and the ones on my userpage please feel free to post it on) P.S. all th translations are in alpahbetical order so when you add one please put it in alpahbetical order according to the language. Template:Userboxtop edit

Ni hao! I saw you had edited the template Userboxtop to remove the spacing on the left-hand side. Unfortunately, this meant the text to the left of the boxes on my userpage, and probably on very many other users' pages, went right up against the boxes. Therefore I reverted the change, as with a basic userpage layout, text flows around the boxes.

I took a look at your page, and I could see why you don't want a space to the left of the boxes. Therefore I suggest copying the template to User:百家姓之四/Userboxtop, then you can edit it as you wish and include your own copy on your page. Best wishes, JRawle (Talk) 11:49, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Peacer edit

Well, thanks. But the source does not provide English translation. If you really want to translate 平儿 in Dream of the Red Chamber, Peacer is not an English word. Do you mean Peacemaker or simply Peace? I changed it to Peace. Hope that's fine to you.--Neo-Jay (talk) 12:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

IP Block Exemption edit

IP block exempt edit

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. User:FT2 (talk) 07:28, 7 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dream of the Red Chamber edit

Hi! I used the word commentary, because yes, I felt some of the sentences feel more like conversational pieces rather than in an encyclopedic tone. But, even though I may have reverted your edit sometimes, I do understand your intention; its just some of the statements are written kind of awkwardly and doesn't flow well (I guess you are not a native speaker of English, although are you fluent?). By the way, your profile says you are in Hebei. Do you have any difficulty accessing Wikipedia in anyway? Cheers!--TheLeopard (talk) 05:35, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I also feel you should be helped by a native speaker of English. Also, some of your views are POV and should be reflected as such. For example, surely you know the last 40 chapters are not written by Cao Xueqin? Also, why do you keep saying there are four most important women in Jia BY's life? It is POV. Hope you don't take all this personally. We just want the article to be helpful and accurate to an English reader. Cheers! 220.255.7.132 (talk) 22:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

赵蔚 edit

Please don't remove cleanup tags, as you did at Zhao Wei, without actually addressing the cleanup concerns. In this case, the tag was there because that sentence needs a source, and you removed the [citation needed] tag without adding a source to replace it. —Politizer talk/contribs 02:17, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

your page move edit

Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow or move it unilaterally while discussion about it is underway, as you did to Chinese astrology. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Hi. edit

Hello, I'd like to say a word in my behalf. The reason I moved Chinese astrology to Birthpet is Chinese astrology contains many field such as Chinese zodiac, Chinese constellations and Sexagenary cycle; Chinese zodiac is only part of Chinese astrology. I removed Chinese-related Classical element because Wu Xing are not elements. (I am quite scared to see my action is regarded as vandalism!). Thanks ^_^ 百家姓之四 Matthew 討論 Discussion 08:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

And the solution I think up is move back it, and create a sigle article for Birthpet (for I just realized the present page is already a comprehensive one.) 百家姓之四 Matthew 討論 Discussion 13:21, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

InCopy edit

Yes. InCopy is not sold in any of the "editions" or "packages" of Creative Suite. However, that doesn't mean that InCopy is not part of the "Creative Suite 4 family". In fact, the official product name of "Adobe InCopy CS4" signifies that it is part of the Creative Suite 4 family of products. It should be clarified that the Adobe Creative Suite template doesn't only include products that are sold in the "editions", it includes all those products that are/were in the CS family. Hope that clarifies the issue. --Pikablu0530 (talk) 14:46, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Template:Jinling Twelve Women edit

A tag has been placed on Template:Jinling Twelve Women requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
