Ride edit

I agree... at the very least Ride should not be nominated until another single is released. Hmmmm.. I'm unsource. I would like to call it electro-hop but without a source its WP:OR. we should leave synthpop because the synth thing is sourced. I once tried to put [[Synthpop|synth]] as a genre but it was removed. Im sure the song has hip hop elements due to Ludacris' verses no? Plus on iTunes it says the song was released April 19 in Europe. There was a discussion about this before and we are aware that iTunes dates are often wrong. e.g. it says the song was released April 26 in the US (which is a monday) when we both know songs are 99.9% of the time released on tuesdays in the US. Lil-unique1 (talk) 19:40, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hmm well i tracked the release of the single on Amazon and iTunes I can personally testify it not being available on April 26. I searched both amZ and itunes until the single was online but i suppose we have to go by what the sources say? As i suspected the reliable 7Digtial music store shows it was available on the 27. Lil-unique1 (talk) 20:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've just heard "Gimme Dat" the supposed second single. :( epic fail. I dont get it but the forums are all raving about it... Lil-unique1 (talk) 22:30, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm i guess time will tell if "Gimme That" can be successful although my gut feeling is that if "Work" couldn't dent the charts, and lets face it "Work" was a better song, then this one can't either. With regards to Urban AC the article on Wikipedia about it suggests that its a very small subset of stations and is more likely a direct component of Hot 100 Airplay. I was going to remove it if the song charted on Hot 100 which seems likely. But yeah I'm not 100% certain. To be on the safe side im going to remove it from the charts table and leave it in the prose. Lil-unique1 (talk) 14:13, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your GA nomination of Massive Attack (song) edit

The article Massive Attack (song) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are many changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. Hey edit

Hey Candyo32, how are you? Sorry the Transform Ya review has been active for so long, got really busy. Anyways the chart performance needs expansion, this paragraph in particular ; It reached five on the Flanders and Wallonia Belgian Tip Charts.[18] The song charted within the top ten in New Zealand, number thirty in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, and in the lower positions of the Dutch Top 40.[19] "I Can Transform Ya"'s charting in European marks propelled it to debut and peak at seventy-six on the European Hot 100.[20] The song was certified Platinum in New Zealand by the RIANZ and Gold in Australia by the ARIA. It reads as if your just summarizing the charts section, its needs expansion =). By the way i really like your new user page layout. (CK)Lakeshadetalk2me 21:12, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Teach Me How to Dougie edit

Thanks for the kind words, which you left on my talk page after I left you a Barnstar. All kinds of respect goin around lol! :) I did a little mild editing earlier today (before the Barnstar) and tonight I added a photo of the albums cover using all of the relevant licensing and fair use protocols. The photos page can be viewed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CaliSwagTMHTDSingleCover.jpg If you've seen my page you'll know I have quite a bit of experience uploading photos so it should be good.

I also noticed your fingerprints all over Justin Bieber's articles. They look great! I did a couple of small edits to justin Bieber several days ago. Mostly sentence structure stuff. Nice to know there are so many tireless and dedicated editors out there, like yourself. Again, great job! Michaelh2001 (talk) 05:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Vandal edit

While I always attempt to assume good faith, a recent edit to TMHTD by an unregistered user used "blanking" to remove the entire chart section on the page. Again, I try to AGF, but in my experience blanking is rarely done with good intentions unless done by an established editor or otherwise explained in the edit summary. I reverted the vandalism and left a warning on the unregistered editors talk page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:98.19.196.222 AlaskaMike (talk) 00:12, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Time to slow down edit

I understand your frustration with Round & Round (Selena Gomez & the Scene song), but you still are subject to WP:3RR, and the edits you are reverting aren't clearcut vandalism.—Kww(talk) 05:31, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

WP:3RR is triggered by your fourth revert on the same article, even if it's four completely different reverts of four different editors. There's exemptions for vandalism and copyright problems.—Kww(talk) 14:49, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
For a short while, yes. I might not get to it as thoroughly as you do, but I help keep it from getting too bad. Letting it sit for a few hours with a digital singles chart or saying "frontwoman Selena Gomez" isn't going to cause problems, and if you bundle your reverts it only counts as one revert. Remember, I didn't write the rule, so you can't come to a private agreement with me: if another admin notices you, you could wind up blocked, and I don't think that's anything that needs to happen.—Kww(talk) 15:05, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

In a perfect world edit

Yes i think that's an excellent idea. The majority of the Kelly stuff is done. The three singles are in good shape as is the album so its just a case of keeping up standards. I've compared the discog to other ones that are FA/GA and its not far of hopefully. As for Keri's album I'll help whenever I can. You're right it will be something to chip away at. I love how everyone's adopting the new layout and skin. I like your colour scheme. Its very funky. I went for the sort of formal fade into the background look. LOL --Lil-unique1 (talk) 02:37, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm I'm surprised because I've been tracking RCG on iTunes and at one point it peaked at like #30. So im surprised it hasn't appeared on Digital Songs. And probably because Rowland is an urban artist radio is more keen on her urban offerings. It jumped quite a large 19 place last week which is good and its the most added song to urban AC =). Thanks for the compliments. You're doing very well yourself (I've just had a nosey at your accomplished work section). I think its best to hold on to "Gimme That" for the time being because even the realiable NY Post isn't 100% certain of its release. However I think the leak thing should defo be mentioned. The media is making a big deal out if being leaked for some reason. Hmmm... yeah "Energy" will be difficult as will "Slow Dance" =( --Lil-unique1 (talk) 02:59, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also to let you know I have the album notes for this so I will begin by correcting the track listing, personnel, producers and then adding the recording locations. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 20:44, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
OMG I've just seen "Slow Dance", you've done an amazing job well done. I couldn't imagine the song ever being more than a stub. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:59, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good. I'm doing it for the same reasons too. Well I thought since Cheryl's album only yielded three singles it should be relatively simple to do and I should be able to create a series for it. I'm finding it really quite interesting. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 00:48, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Massive Attack (things the GA missed) edit

Hello some errors were made with the GA review. Eg:

  • There are some significant MOS issues with the sourcing:
    • I was told previously that MTV News should not be italicized as it is not a physical publication (also change in article body).
    • There is WP:OVERLINKING in the referencing for example
      • MTV News is linked five times. MTV News is published by MTV Networks (Viacom)
      • Rap-up is also linked five times and no date has been provided even though each url has a date in it so there is no excuse really.
      • Billboard is linked three times and also its not italicized in reference 9 but is in subsequent refs. (Should always be italicized).
  • Ref [8] is missing Rap Up as its work.
  • Ref [9] incorrectly lists 'MTV Networks' as the publisher for Billboard magazine
  • Ref [10] italicizes Idolator even though it is not a publication
  • Ref [15] is missing a publisher. As its taken from Billboard.biz the publisher would be Nieslen Soundscan
  • for Ref [17] iTunes Store US should be the work and the publisher should be Apple, Inc
  • in Ref [18] the work should be 'Going for Adds' and the publisher is 'R&R Records'.

Some of them are easy mistakes to miss. The following statement "Due to the song being a commercial disappointment a second single, "Your Love", was released in early June 2010." is incorrect. Minaj had never wanted to release "Your Love" but because it illegally leaked online from the recording studio and radio stations began to spin the record it was released. She said this to MTV here (TBhotch resolved this)

Also the infobox is missing WP:ALT text and airplay should not be listed in the infobox as a release format per the discussion that was used for "Woohoo". It is accepted that in the US singles are made available through airplay but it is discredited as a release format (which are strickly, CD, vinyl, download etc.) Also its not Nicki's single chronology as "Woohoo" is a song she's featured on not a song of hers (just like you've correctly put its not Garrett's chronology).

*sorry* to bring this up. But they are issues that should be resolved on what is otherwise a very good article. I know you've already worked very hard on it.

Regards, --Lil-unique1 (talk) 04:08, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

Hi Candy. Hope your ok. I've done all the corrections above bar... the WP:ALT text. The is the Alt field in the infobox and is something that I've left for you to do as its something you have missing on a few of your GAs. Its very simple. It just requires you to describe what's happening in the cover e.g. "in the background stands a woman". etc. Its purpose if for visual browsing i.e. those with disabilities who use an audio or visual internet browser which displays text instead of images or those who have their browser read visual descriptions. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 19:42, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

p.s. I've already done all the other things =) --Lil-unique1 (talk) 16:10, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Good stuff. There's few more things though (sorry). When putting dates in the infobox for the release date you should use the {{startdate}} template. For US format it looks like: {{startdate|2010|01|01}} and for UK format: {{startdate|2010|01|10|df=yes}}. Not i've made a few corrections to I Can Transform You. Chris Brown is a Jive Records Recording Artist. Jive is distributed through RCA/Jive Record Group in the U.S. and RCA Music Group in the UK. Zomba is a production/distribution label group. This only Jive goes in the infobox. Also when listing chronologies in the infoboxes only add singles after the artist if ALL of the songs in the chronology are solo releases by that artist. If they are features e.g. Chris Brown on "Drop It Low" its not his chronology. (p.s. I like your signature but it doesn't like to your talk page anymore which is annoying =P) --Lil-unique1 (talk) 16:27, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I noticed you reverted the numbers back to words rather than digits. Don't worry, I won't be changing them back, it's a pretty minor thing anyway. Was just curious as to why? It seems to go against the MoS at WP:ORDINAL.--BelovedFreak 20:43, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Nearly there, I've left a couple more comments at the review page.--BelovedFreak 18:20, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
(Replying to your comment here, per your talkpage preference):

about the heading and the charts, most music editors use other GA's and particularly music FA's like 4 Minutes (Madonna song), and Irreplaceable, that use particular tweaks such as the heading, and written-out chart movements.

well, I was kind of hoping for some actual (policy/guideline/common sense) reasons rather than just because it's been done before, but never mind. I do think it can be problematic to just keep repeating particular writing styles or whatever, without really thinking about why. I think that having so many editors contributing to one encyclopaedia is a good thing, partly for that reason. This absolutely isn't a criticism of you; I'm probably just as guilty as anyone of "copying" or adapting "standard" bits of other articles. I'm not sure I'm expressing this clearly, but I just think that we all need to be able to make changes as necessary (for example, the aforementioned header tautology). Anyway, as I said before, it's not a huge issue and won't hold up the GA. I do appreciate that you've put in a lot of good work with these music articles, so I hope you don't take my comments as a particular criticism against you, just trying to work out ways of getting the articles as good as possible.--BelovedFreak 19:08, 14 July 2010 (UTC) P.S. Did you see the discussion I linked to at WP:RSN? I can't see anything that makes it a reliable source for use here, so I won't be able to pass the article as a GA with that source, or any material that s solely supported by that source.--BelovedFreak 15:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Candyo32, I appreciate that you may have a lot of other articles/projects on the go, but I have provided you with a GA review, made my own efforts to try to find out whether or not the source you have used is reliable, and would appreciate a response to my remaining concern. I don't think that's an unreasonable request. I'm sure that neither of us want this GA review hanging on indefinitely. BelovedFreak 19:02, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your response and edits to the articles. As I said, I understand that you might be editing other things; people usually do have several thins on the go. I wasn't expecting instant implementation of everything I suggested, but it's very frustrating trying to complete a review when the nominator doesn't respond. Anyway, I've passed the article, so I'll leave you alone now.--BelovedFreak 20:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

CSD photo about to be deleted edit

The photo I added to Cali Swag District from the Wikimedia Commons has permission issues and will probably be deleted in a few days. Its not my photo, and I didn't upload it to Wikimedia Commons, so there isn't anything I can do about it. I've notified the the user that uploaded it, but their account has been blocked indefinitely so this doesn't look good at this point. the file in question is located here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:CaliSwagPressPhoto.jpg You were very helpful in fixing the discography chart on that page, maybe you could help me find another photo of them, although its not easy to find a fair use approved one of a group. :(

I also cleaned up the Live performances section on Teach Me How to Dougie a little more and added sources for all. You and I are pretty much the main "Cali Swag Wikipedians", so if there is anything I can do to help you, please don't hesitate to ask. I feel there might be some very minor fan-pov issues on TMHTD, although they certainly do not rise to the level of adding the fan-pov template. Except for chart updates there likely won't be any hard material to add until their album comes out. Anyway, I'd be glad to help you in any way needed. AlaskaMike 16:29, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

use of WP:RS edit

Just to call your attention to a section of WP:RS you don't seem to be aware of (given your objection to citing Youtube's own statement on Twitter): Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves... I would also direct you to WP:COMMON: Wikipedia has many rules. Instead of following every rule, it is acceptable to use common sense as you go about editing. Being too wrapped up in rules can cause loss of perspective, so there are times when it is better to ignore a rule. Even if a contribution "violates" the precise wording of a rule, it might still be a good contribution... Does it make sense for you to approve of a secondary source as reliable when the only support that secondary source has for its claim of fact is something that you had just rejected as unreliable because it appeared on Twitter? The point here being that there is more than enough inaccurate material on Wikipedia in need of deletion that material which no reasonable person disputes re accuracy does not make sense as a top priority for deletion. Wikipedia's object is to achieve the high level of footnoting found in high quality publications but that goes to quality, not just quantity, of footnotes. No respectable work footnotes every sentence.Bdell555 (talk) 06:44, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I might add that you could consider applying some reliable source standards to yourself before demanding them of others. This edit of yours makes a claim of fact that, never mind being sourced to a disputed source, is sourced to no source at all!Bdell555 (talk) 06:59, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello Good Morning (Remix) edit

I understand that "Hello Good Morning (Remix)" wasn't released to radio, but the fact is that it was released onto iTunes as an official single, I believe it should be covered in the article since it is an official single release for all artists involved (in this case three, counting diddy-dirty money as one) (not sure if you want to just put this in the talks page of the article??) Theuhohreo (talk) 18:09, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

But other pages (ex: All I Do Is Win#Remix) state it as an official release because it is. And in this case it is actually stated by other sites who support the single release on that date. And unlike the case with promo-singles released on iTunes, this "single" has a music video release as well which is not the case with the other remixes done for the song... Ahhhhhh... Rollback. Done. Just looked like a lot of format differences. I'll keep monitoring the page, and keep looking at the history. Let me know if you need another rollback. --ANowlin: talk 23:51, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, I see in the page history that Anowlin (talk · contribs) has used rollback to remove all of the most recent edits by that user, however, that only takes it back the the last edit by another person - which in this case is this version by Syedwaheedhussain (talk · contribs) on 14:05, 26 July 2010...however, the other user had made edits before that...
In the pages history, you can click on a date to see an older version; for example, you can click the entry from 01:57, 24 July 2010, before that user arrived; you could then, if you wanted, save that version - taking things back to the way they were.
No old versions are ever lost, and anything can be undone; however, I do encourage you to try and discuss the issues on Talk:Rihanna discography. In Wikipedia, the consensus is king, and discussion works; there is no deadline.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello. Chzz  ►  00:00, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I Can Transform Ya/Ga pass edit

Hey, You have talkback on my page regarding Ciara Discography. Im going to look at I Can Transform Ya right now so ill let you know if it passes or not :) (CK)Lakeshadetalk2me 00:03, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay, ive fixed a few more referencing errors. Other then that the only thing i see is the lead. It could use some expansion, if you could find a way to do that then that would be great :) (CK)Lakeshadetalk2me 00:14, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

After reviewing the article, Woohoo, I am passing it because it does meet the good article criteria. However, if you find any images for this article, please add them to enhance the article. Other than that, it looks great. Good work. Rp0211 (talk) 02:14, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wow, where to begin. Woo-Hoo in no way should have been passed. In less then 10 minutes i found like 15 issues. Ive demoted it for now, as soon as i feel it meets GA status i will re-pass it. I dont really care how long it takes so dont worry about that right now. I Can Transform Ya i believe is done. Im still re-reading it. I would prefer you to correct the issues with Ciara discography (which are located on my talk page) before you do Woo-Hoo. (CK)Lakeshadetalk2me

Okay, ive passed I Can Transform Ya. Great Work! :) Regarding Ciara discography there are still some issues that you've missed. Ive marked them as " Not done" so you can easily identify them and correct them :) Lemme know when your done. (CK)Lakeshadetalk2me 02:27, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Great work. All my concerns have been addressed and ive added my Support to the review page. Im nominating it for FL next month i think :) (CK)Lakeshadetalk2me 02:37, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re:Update edit

My sources told me that "Gimme That" is going for adds next week apparently. Hmmm disppointing about Kelly Rowland but predicatable... look at what happened to Mya under Universal Motown. I don't really support the use of urbanmusicbridgez as a reliable source and all of the stories of Ciara being featured from 'Hot Toddy' spawn from there. It was never officially confirmed by Ciara or by Usher. So in essense we'll never know for sure if she was supposed to feature on it and until its out we won't know if she does. That's why people should haved waited for official confirmation before getting too excited and before creating an article for Versus. I hope she is featured on the the song, it sounds hot and would be just what she needs to boost her career. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 17:15, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm told that the whole EP has leaked today (about 3 hours ago) and Ciara is not on "Hot Toddy". According to my source the song is tagged "Hot Toddy" (with Jay Z) and still has background vocals from Esther Dean. If that's true what a big shame. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:35, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Check the source, then. You will see that those dates have already passed. They are NOT set to appear on those shows. Selena appeared on those shows to talk about her new movie.Selenaismylife555 (talk) 18:55, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wrong again, I'm afraid. It said the Band will appear on the shows. Also, on some of the shows she didn't talk about her music AT ALL, let alone promote the new album. You are the one who is stretching the truth.Selenaismylife555 (talk) 19:23, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Live Performances and Promotion of "Round & Round" edit

I am very confused about this. I know Selena Gomez didn't even mention the song on David Letterman. Why is it under promotion? That's stretching it a bit, don't you think? You might be able to say that if she was ONLY a musician, but as she is an actress also, and there was no mention of the single on David Letterman, I don't see how you can truly believe that she promoted the song on that show. Roselily6 (talk) 19:58, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay. Like I said I feel that that is strecthing it, but I'll let it go. Roselily6 (talk) 20:09, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Question about Halfway Gone edit

I had a question about your second review for Halfway Gone. I believe Jesus Freak Hideout is a credible source, because it has its own Wikipedia article and several references to go with it. So, why is it an unreliable source? Rp0211 (talk) 18:33, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

GAR edit

Hi, I can do an individual reassessment and the article is so obviously lacking and only passed because the original reviewer gave up and "I didn't feel like being attacked anymore" (it's in my archives), which means I acted boldly to delist this. Hekerui (talk) 19:15, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

You deleted my review, please refrain from such actions. if you want a community reassessment, nominate the article there. Regards Hekerui (talk) 19:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
GAR is two things: individual reassessment and community reassessment. A single person can list an article and a single person can delist an article. If you disagree the issue can be brought before the community. What you shouldn't do is delete my talk page comments. The unfortunate thing is that this wasn't quickfailed from the start and a reviewer felt like passing an article to GA status because of accusations of being "dictatorial".
Update: I didn't recognize your signature before - I now see it was you who nominated the article. So I understand you are not happy about this. Please don't feel insulted, this is not personal, but the way this nomination went was not okay. You can find the discussion here. You weren't the one attacking, but the reviewer didn't feel like doing a proper review. I also urge you to reply on the article talk page so the article issues can be (if possible) be resolved. Best Hekerui (talk) 19:34, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
No no, it was referring to a previous review, but that meant the review of this mixtape was not done properly. I frankly think the article was far from ready and still is. I didn't mean to be rude either. Regards Hekerui (talk) 19:49, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Working with sources edit

I looked through your GA articles and I believe you directly quote too much. Sometimes in almost every sentence and with whole blockquotes, instead of reformulating in a manner that respects the original copyright. Wikipedia:Copyrights#Using copyrighted work from others discusses the need to not follow sources too closely and links to Wiki-FAQ sections that discuss how much reformulation there must be and what is summary compared to just excerpting. I'm concerned because copyright is a serious issue and we don't want to be accused of plagiarism and copyright violations. The previous GA reviewers have not made this an issue but these general rules laid out in the policy should be followed with caution. Regards Hekerui (talk) 20:36, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, adding an inline citation only takes care of the plagiarism aspect in the sense that the original source is made clear, but the closeness to the source imo still persists and that has to be rectified. 21:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
As a person who keeps tab of music songs being promoted to GA, I have to agree with Hekerui regarding your GAs. I believe what you are doing is awesome, just take these suggestions in a sporting way :) — Legolas (talk2me) 05:44, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you only use quotes because you think this takes care of the issue you are mistaken - using only quotes makes the articles resemble the sources much more and, as linked to above, goes into copyright violation. You can use a few quotes, especially in the reception section, but you need to reformulate content in your own words in a way not resembling a source too closely for other things. Instead of merely inserting what people and sources say, summarize and describe in your own words and with proper attribution what they say. To do that well and still follow policy is a big part of what makes articles good or featured instead of merely collections of other sources. Hekerui (talk) 07:42, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good article preparation for Halfway Gone edit

I am currently reviewing Talk:Halfway Gone/GA2 and the comments you left there. I wanted to ask you about some of the major issues. First of all, I updated the file that was violating WP:NFCC #8. I believe it obeys this rule now because it shows how "the video's effects allow people to seemingly appear out of nowhere throughout the video." Removing the image would make it possible for misinterpretation for how the people appear out of nowhere, and this image clarifies an example of it. Therefore, I believe the image meets this rule now. Second of all, I spent a long time yesterday and today editing the references. I have gotten rid of the improper italicizes, fixed the dates on all of the references, and wiki-linked them when necessary. However, when I put the information in for the |work= parameter, do I need to wiki-link that? Third, and last of all, I am sort of confused what you mean by the remix tracks being sourced. To be specific, where exactly do I need to have sources in the remix section? Thanks, Rp0211 (talk) 20:13, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Despite the issue with WP:NFCC #8, do you think I should renominate the article for a GA? Rp0211 (talk2me) 20:42, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
What exactly does proofread mean? Also, after I proofread, what should I do with the image in the "Music video" section? Rp0211 (talk2me) 20:55, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

New Boyz Discography edit

Hi Candy!

Just a question - I'm confused. If a song does not chart at all, how is it notable and included? I thought only charted songs were to be included unless there was other overriding reasons it should be. I don't see how a non-charting hit by a group that has not charted themselves is worthy of inclusion.

The song was apparently released to Radio 2 1/2 months ago. If it was going to chart, you think it would have by now.

Thoughts? Don't want to get anyone mad here, just discuss.

that doesn't make any sense!... featured singles are still in the artists chronology cause they are still singles released as featured single. this sounds so stupid! lmfaoooooooo Theuhohreo (talk) 15:08, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

and if you're going to do it on "Your Love" that means you're taking full responsibility to do it on all her other singles featured or not.... so get to it. and you should tell all other people who do it to the 1 billion other artists... have fun Theuhohreo (talk) 15:08, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
that just so happens to be one of the dumbest things i have ever heard... so just because you want it to be GA you're going to throw off her entire single chronology? That makes absolutely No sense! Their are plenty of other GA articles that still have the featured singles in the chronology because they are OFFICIAL CHRONOLOGY! And that was NEVER a matter when the article was submited the first time, OR when Massive Attack was sent! Theuhohreo (talk) 04:33, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
"Single Chronology" still includes featured singles! If you go to the discography of an artist and look at the "Singles" section featured & collaboration singles are included in the section because they were officially released as singles by the artist and its collaborator! I can't understand why on "Massive Attack" it was okay to put the featured single in the single chronology but on "Your Love" you have this weird vendetta against it. It wouldn't get rejected/accepted as a GA whether the single chronology has featured songs in it or not so I don't understand you debating for it.
Also by changing the single chronology you affect all the other ones that connect to that article and don't connect to the correct one. You're not understanding how far the ripples of your actions are going!... Theuhohreo (talk) 16:27, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Album articles edit

Hey Candy. First off, I wanted to say nice job on all the GA noms. You're clearly doing a lot of great work, and actually a lot of the songs you have nominated are current favourites of mine. ;) About your nominations of Ready (Trey Songz album) and Goodies (album), I just wanted to suggest a greater focus on the "production" of the album. I think you have confused the purpose of "background" and "production" section and actually merged the two. "Background" information isn't the information before the album's release date, but rather it's the information before the whole process of creating the album began. "Production" sections should detail how the album was recorded, written etc. To give an example, read the "background" and "production" sections of So Amazin'. Right now, the Goodies article has some "production" information under the background heading, so I would suggest creating a new "production" heading and expanding it with new information. With the Ready article, I don't think any of the information under the "background" heading is actually background information. Again, I would create a new "production" section, and move the current "background" info to other parts of the article. Hope this message helped to clarify things a bit, Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 12:49, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good Morning Candy032, I have recently reviewed and unfortunately failed the artice. I felt the page was well written and sourced properly (from what I saw) but was not very informative. Double Linking? edit

What, exactly, is double linking? And where in the Wikipedia rules does it say that I must "refrain from cites in the infobox"? How are you going to tell me my source was improper when the information given before my edit was unsourced and incorrect? Educate me please.

Thank you for the lesson on double linking; Wasn't too clear on what that was, that could've meant anything. Well I've made a mistake about how to title the source and I can own up to that but I still have a problem with you telling me that I can't put citations in the infobox. Hi Candyo32, I'm almost done reviewing the article. Just remove/replace DJBooth and Rap Basement (which have been deemed unreliable) and I'll gladly pass it. Great work. –Chase (talk) 00:01, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'll try and check at those articles sometime, though it may have to wait until later in the week. Remember, there's always peer review you can submit articles to before you nominate them for GA; I'm not too familiar in that area however and thus I'm not sure of the process, you may wish to get someone who understands it more to explain. "Live Like There's No Tomorrow" edit

Hey there. I'd like to invite you to add an infobox single to Ramona and Beezus for Selena Gomez & the Scene's single "Live Like There's No Tomorrow".—Iknow23 (talk) 06:12, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey. Here's more...per iTunes "Live Like There's No Tomorrow (From "Ramona and Beezus") - Single Selena Gomez & The Scene"
So I call it a single from the soundtrack, but it is only a "song" or album track from A Year Without Rain unless re-released as a single from it as well (a different release date from AYWR) that is NOT Jul 13, 2010 (that is it's single from R&B date). So I say it could have a Infobox single stating from Ramona and Beezus and an Infobox song as an album track from AYWR. whew.—Iknow23 (talk) 23:15, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Ready edit

You're very welcome. For future reference, have a look at the featured articles, Control (Janet Jackson album), Supernature (Goldfrapp album), and Loveless (album); or for a more simple article, see the GA So Amazin'. There's not one specific way to present the information, but those articles should give you a good idea. Good luck with everything! Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 05:12, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well I guess it all depends on the GA reviewer. I retitled the section to "Background and production", because it has some background info at the start. The section really should be expanded, but if you can't find anything then I'd just wait until the review. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 06:18, 7 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Hello edit

Hi Candy... I know its been a very long time. I'm ok thank you. I have quite a while till University begins again so I'm trying to power my way through the mountain of stuff I have lined up to do on here before things get busy again. What bout you? Yeah no problem I'll take a look at them now for you. I've noticed a few things on Cici discog so I've pointed them out. I was so relieved that she's performing at the VMAs. Makes it all worthwhile lol. Don't get me started on Kelly... I'm mega upset after all the major league stanning I've been doing! Hmm... IMO I don't think the coverage of the info in Woohoo will ever be enough for GA... depends if more info could be found. I believe (and I was told) that Kelly will be dropping her album in January 2010 in the US whilst it is set for November 22, 2010 in the UK (aparently). Don't quote me LOL -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:26, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

the three keri articles look good at first glance. Though I'll let you in on a secret... you're music video image for "Turnin Me On" was deleted. Also "Slow Dance" had bare URLS and I'm not sure the coverage is broad enough to achieve GA. One thing I can do is add the recording studios and full personnel for you as I have the album and its digital booklet. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:46, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Where do you get you're radio info from? I use http://www.radio-info.com/charts-and-formats, but I was wondering how you found out about RCG just cracking the pop songs thing? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:55, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm neutral. I only wanted to make sure I didn't assign a non-notable article GA status.--Atlantictire (talk) 06:05, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's cool. I just didn't know if a song not in the top ten or not a "classic" merited its own article. I'm getting pretty roasted so, I don't think you need to worry. As for getting someone else to review the article, I'm just trying to help out with the GA backlog so it's fine if you want someone else to do the job.--Atlantictire (talk) 06:26, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm new to GA reviews and am a huge stickler for neutrality. Do you agree with what I've stated does not constitute a balanced treatment of the subject? Let me know, because I'd like this process to be quick and painless!--Atlantictire (talk) 06:41, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Second. The lead was ok but there was still non-neutral language and clutter, and it was not as well organized as it could be. I'm going to restore my edit and you can add information you think is essential. Relax. I may be new here but I'm a jolly good writer.--Atlantictire (talk) 20:28, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Actually, before I do that let's talk about this on the GA page. I'll go into my reasons for editing the lead there.--Atlantictire (talk) 20:59, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I understand. Occupationally, I've been pretty (though not totally!) desensitized to downright brutal editing processes. But it's never personal, and it helps if you're smart (which you clearly are). I assure you, the basic substance of your article is fine, and I truly do see this as a collaborative effort where the paramount concern is the final product... not this or that person losing or saving face. Prose > egos.
So, shall we give up?--Atlantictire (talk) 02:21, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I like this song.--Atlantictire (talk) 03:35, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey. Whatchadoin to my talk page?
Look it’s fine. So much of the GA music thread is 17 year olds writing for other 17 years olds. I guess that's not hurting anyone. The fact that you spend so much time here and are socially invested in it is actually really cool. How else would all those vandalism edits get reversed and all that covert advertising deleted?
I’m just here because I’d like wikipedia to be as useful for certain subjects as it is for others. Purely for the info and ideas. That’s it.
You’ll get your article re-nominated, and your internet friends will like it. I promise. No need to keep redacting my talk page to save face.--Atlantictire (talk) 05:38, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reply: succession boxes edit

I hope you will provide comments on your thoughts regarding the use of succession boxes on articles for songs and albums simply because they went to #1 on a music chart. I have been editing the articles because that is the best way to build consensus. It is also best way to determine who may be in favor of keeping them, because the discussion so far at WT:CHARTS#Succession boxes is generally opposed to them. If my removal of the boxes was reverted, I have invited the user who reverted the change to that same discussion. I think only one person has provided comments after reverting my change, which I infer that those who have not as being indifferent to their use but want something explicitly stated. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 17:13, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Whip My Hair" Song Accreditation edit

Although Willow Smith is a superstar in the makings, for clarification purposes she did not write the song, "Whip My Hair." Jukebox wrote the lyrics and produced the track long before he began working with Ms. Smith on the project. Also, Ronald Jackson and Jukebox are the same person. I would like to ask kindly that you please do not revert the revision I have made because the original statement is false. Thank you. :) APress278 (talk) 20:21, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Chart performance of Woohoo edit

If billboard.com were returning a dead link, it would be easier to accept the claim about "Woohoo" charting. However, http://www.billboard.com/#/song/christina-aguilera-featuring-nicki-minaj/woohoo/20141057 contains the text "This Song has never charted." Based on that, the page does not support the claim of the song charting in the US—or in Canada, for that matter. —C.Fred (talk) 14:41, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah! Billboard has multiple pages for the song. After a little digging, http://www.billboard.com/#/song/christina-aguilera-featuring-nicki-minaj/woohoo/19941681 supports the single week on the charts in June but not the re-entry. I've put the chart appearances back in. —C.Fred (talk) 14:47, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Are you using one of the compatible browsers?
It is currently working for me, although I know that in the past few days, there have been problems with Twinkle, caused by trouble with it accessing the API I believe. However, as I say, it works for me just now. I suggest, firstly, turn everything off and back on again - a cliché, I know, but it works so often.
If, after that, it still fails - please report it on Wikipedia talk:Twinkle/Bugs. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  22:55, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I just asked around a bit, and heard that at least one other person is having trouble - so, it seems like it is not just you. See Wikipedia_talk:Twinkle#Not_loading.
Maybe you'd like to talk to us live, with this.  Chzz  ►  23:11, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Apparently, it is due to this.  Chzz  ►  23:29, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
As of right now, the 'action = parse' thingy is disabled in English Wikipedia. So, that seems to be what is causing the problems with Twinkle - and lots of other stuff. And I'm sure lots of people are complaining loudly, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.  Chzz  ►  23:33, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
" RESOLVED FIXED " means that specific bug, at that time, was fixed - I think it was reenabled on Commons. However, as of right now, the topic in the tech help channel says Example text - and by hunting around and asking around a bit, I found the connection to that bug. So, what I suspect is, the problem is actually ongoing, as of now. I've not been able to get any further info at this time - ie who is looking at it, if it is likely to be fixed in the near future, or anything. The server logs aren't saying much, and no devs have told me; I'll keep you posted. Unfortunately, the dev team are not always the best at keeping us informed. Chzz  ►  23:51, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm sorry, but at this stage I have not been able to find out any more - other than it still being noted in the IRC topic in #wikimedia-tech. Possibly, by the time you read this, it will be working. If not, I suggest looking to see if there is anything on WP:VPT about 'API' or 'parse' and if not, starting a new section to try to get answers. Sorry I can't be more definitive; feel free to give me another shout.  Chzz  ►  05:35, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I just spoke to Tim Starling and apparently, that note shouldn't have been in the topic; it's just been changed now. That problem was resolved yesterday - therefore it is probably unrelated to your troubles.
So - if it still does not work, please log it to Wikipedia talk:Twinkle/Bugs. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  06:08, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Did I just experience an epiphany... edit

Hey there. I am still confused about the difference between a 'promo single' and a "REGULAR" single (if a regular single even exists in US anymore)...Well, I came across The State vs. Radric Davis. It is really just this simple? In US ALL singles before an album is released are 'Promo Singles' and those after are 'Radio singles' (in almost all cases)? Am I finally understanding all this? lol.—Iknow23 (talk) 22:56, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
But of course 'Radio singles' (or any other kind of single) also promote the parent album. Btw, what other kinds of singles are there (if any)?—Iknow23 (talk) 23:01, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Hi candy how are things today? I've been meaning to start the review for "Return the Favor" but haven't really had the time, is that ok? I can't believe Kelly's tumbled off the charts.. she should seriously be performing the hell out of her singles in the US trying to get something to chart at least. Its a right mess... a quick check of iTunes/7 Digital revealed she had released all four of her singles around the world and yet RCG and GW refuse to chart. BASTA! -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 01:32, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yup agreed. Although HMV seem convinced that Rowland's third album will be titled Kelly Rowland and is due on November 29, 2010. Take a look at this. It looks so official because it even has a promo video from Island records (watch the video). What do you think? I'm really sorry for all three ladies... they look to have their projects pushed into 2010. with Susan Boyle, Willow Smith, Leona Lewis (assuming she releases something from Echo: Tour Edition), Alexandra Burke, JLS, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez all due singles in the next couple of months its gonna be serious wig snatching and bitch-biting. Its gonna be tough for anyone. I get the distinct feeling that Ciara will be next to announce her hold up .... *sighs* so much disappointment eh? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 02:01, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've emailed both HMV and Island records to ask if the Kelly R thing is true. I don't know if there's any defence left for Ciara. In other news related, a tiny peak of Jlo's clip for "Take Care" (buzz single) was shown when she was unvieled as a judge on Idol and it appears that "take care" is actually "Good Hit" (a song that leaked earlier). Latest has it that it will be released now while a new single will be released in February and come with JLo performing it live on Idol's first live show. Also I've been informed from the buzz on Alexandra forums that Nicki Minaj will feature on the version of "Bad Boys" which will be serviced in the US ... now that I would like to hear... -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 02:15, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've left a comment because it does seem overly harsh. I'm cautious because I dont want to get into an argument with Courcelles but it does appear to be disproportionately harsh. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 20:38, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes I agree... our time does seem to be taken up with reversions/vandals these day *sigh*. I hate to like Rihanna but some of her songs are darn catchy. The Minaj hook-up sounds major!!! OMG yes "Shut 'Em Up" is fucking hot! I'm so disappointed with Cici's music its so hit and miss but yeah she's gonna bulldoze Keri I think. I hate to say it but Keri could struggle to shift 25k the way she's going but saying that Cici might struggle to top 50k... As shown by Shontelle... a hot single doesn't always translate into album sales ("Impossible" = no. 13, No Gravity sells 7k!) -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 21:27, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Haha true... but the music market was a different place in 2006. People are less willing to buy music. Yes but at least Ciara has one successful single behind her album release yet Keri doesn't really have a strong single behind her album. "Pretty Girl Rocks" won't really make any major chart moves. I dont know anymore... for both artists their international sales will be shocking. Neither has done any international promo. *sighs* I pray that Ciara leaves Jive/LaFace after this album... she needs a new label who will handle her project properly. How come Usher, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake can all release projects with the Jive/RCA Label Group without ANY hitches... yet ciara can't? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 21:59, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Maybe is a smart move afterall then? Yeah I follow Ne-Yo. I actually really like his music but I feel like I was one of the 'only' people who liked "BM". It's like "Closer 2.0". I think he deliberately went for a new sound cus he knew Usher and Trey would slay him. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 23:06, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Btw... what is 'Black Friday'? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 23:07, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not a good move to release "Haters" (where did you see it?) I would have released "RCG" in the UK because its too good a song to waste. But hey I'm not in charge lol. I like Mimi's new Xmas single too. Could you do me a favor? Could you keep an eye on my usual articles please? Its just I'm moving houses this weekend and might not have internet till monday/tuesday. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:02, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Haha yeah come to think of it, I saw that too. Well it'd just be good for a quick vandal patrol etc. Don't worry I'm not expecting a handful of GAs/FAs etc LOL. I'll re-look at the Return the Favor GA when I get back online. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:23, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Just to amplify: the real problem is that there is no permanent link that exists right now. The link I used to get by will disappear in 7 days. Invitation to comment: Formatting changes to WP:DISCOGSTYLE. edit

Hello, Candy. I know you've seen some of what's been bubbling up over at the discogs/style page, but you weren't really encouraged to provide your input when you visited, and I'd like to remedy that before some noticeable changes get made all across WP. Do you have the time?

Quick summary: Over at the Talk page for WP:WikiProject Discographies/style, there's been quite a bit of (at times tedious and technical) discussion about the formatting of discographies. Although WikiProject Discographies/style hopes to be part of the Manual of Style some day, it does not, currently, conform to WP:ACCESS, itself a part of the MoS. This is a problem because articles which conform to the WikiProject Discographies/style ought not be acceptable for promotion to FA or FL status, since they don't conform to the MoS.

After much discussion at Accessibility issues, followed by what was meant to be a conclusion at Time to update, we would be ready to actively address the problem, with discographies eventually being reformatted to appear as currently shown here (already changed from its earlier form). Column order and formatting would be noticeably changed, chart headings would typically be bigger, a few other differences in the coding would be made.

The only hold-up (as far as we know) is lack of wider consensus; I think too few people have participated and I'd like to see more editors register their opinion (be it support or criticism) before we move ahead with a rather significant change. (At the very least, you may consider this fair warning.) Your comment is welcome at Are we ready to apply this updated guideline?. Thanks. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 20:56, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Notmyselftonight.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Notmyselftonight.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. "Burning idiot" edit

First, I do not appreciate being referred to as a "burning idiot". Second, WP:NFCC says that we need to have "minimal use" of non-free material, which includes images from videos. Normally, one image is tolerated. Taking two images and jamming them together into one file doesn't make it one image: it's still two images. Don't restore this file to the article. If you want to produce a file with a single image, I wouldn't remove that.—Kww(talk) 19:18, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Although i hate NFCC more then i hate spiders (>___<) Kww is more or less right, NFCC states "Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information." meaning you can use two if they both increase readers knowledge, unfortunately only the top image does, if you want to use two images there are so many better images available from the video such as the comparisons to Gaga, i would personally use the flaming beds or something. (BTW Candy you have talkback on my page)- (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 19:34, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

There's no consensus I'm aware of that permits double screen-captures in articles. I remove them whenever I see them.—Kww(talk) 23:13, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

WP:NFCC is policy, and it says as quoted above. What significant information does your double image convey that a single would not?—Kww(talk) 23:22, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
That explanation doesn't really even justify one image, much less two. I'll take it to WT:NFCC if you want to get more opinions.—Kww(talk) 23:31, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

WT:NFCC#Opinion on image removal.—Kww(talk) 23:51, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Indeed. I've deleted the composite image as WP:CSD#F7, and frankly editors that violate WP:NFCC with such inappropriate edit summaries should be warned that they risk being blocked. Black Kite (t) (c) 00:18, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

I am currently busy and cannot do it, but can someone remove all the "US Digital" colums on Jonas Brothers discography, as they are not allowed in charts sections or discographies on music articles per WP:USCHART? Thanks in advance. Candyo32 00:14, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm busy too and cannot do it, when you have time you can go ahead and do it. But for now, i'm closing out the {{helpme}} template because this has been spamming up the IRC channel. Or perhaps placing a note on the article's talk page and someone will handle it. - Dwayne was here! 02:03, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
(Aside: 'Spamming the IRC channel'? A user asking for help? No, absolutely not.)
I did it; see this edit.
I'm not sure if it is a good idea or not; I just did the edit to help out. If anyone objects, I'm sure they will reinstate them. Remember MOS is just a guide, so if discussion is required, use Talk:Jonas Brothers discography.
Incidentally, it only took me about 1 minute to make the edit; it's best if you do these things yourself, so others can see who decided. But anyway, it's done. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  02:10, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jessica Jarrell edit

Hello Candyo32.

Regarding Jessica Jarrell, now located at User:Candyo32/Jessica Jarrell, about which you said at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2010_May_4 "new information has come up as I found out the article met WP:MUSICBIO's #1 & #11.".

The article has now been live in your userspace for too long. Does it meet WP:MUSICBIO? If yes, it should be moved to mainspace. If no, it should be kept in blank form. See Wikipedia:User_pages#Pages_that_look_like_articles.2C_copy_pages.2C_project_pages. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 08:27, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Candy,
Thanks for replying. There are no time limits, but the community frowns upon keeping userspace drafts live, especially where there is a possibility of promotion being involved. Userspace is indeed for testing and building up articles, but it is a problem that your userspace draft is a top hit when doing a google search. I suggest that you should keep the page blank while not actively editing. It is very easy to blank and unblank your own pages. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 10:38, 11 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposition/Hi there edit

Hi there Candy, so I haven't worked with you yet, but I hope we get to know each other! So heres why I found and came to you. As you know the backlog at the GAC page is long, and we have articles that are desperately needing reviews. So I would like to propose something, so that we ca both get help fast. I have an article (Music Box) that has been sitting there for like 2 months and you have articles there well over a month. So heres what I came up with, I would like to do a trade off. Can you review my nomination and I'll do the same for you? Now since my article is an album page, and is considerably longer, I'll do two of your songs. How does that sound? Two songs for an album? Tell me what you think, this way we both help each other out and get things done! Thanks again!  --CallMeNathanTalk2Me 06:44, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey. So yeah no problem! I thought it was a good way to get our stuff reviewed lol. Yup, my main goal here on Wikipedia is and has always been Mariah. I have brought "Merry Christmas" to GA, "Number 1's" is in the FA procedure and has supports. "Butterfly" will go for FA once "Ones" is done. Then I have "Music Box" which will hopefully be GA soon, ad "Mariah Carey" which is almost there :). Soon will go onto her singles as well. Yes definitely, "Memoirs" looks really good, except it needs a Thorough copy-edit and cleanup, other than that and some more relibale sources, it looks good, and "Obsessed" will easily be ready :D. SO yes, I am for the deal 100%. I will begin one of them tomorrow  --CallMeNathanTalk2Me 01:15, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Amateur control edit

I am seeing a lot of amateur/fan users editing Usher album articles Confessions (Usher album) and Raymond v. Raymond, adding puffery and excessive content concerning commercial/sales statistics, particulary about the albums' singles. As there are multiple users like this, I am asking for some help as my reverts and edit summaries citing WP guidelines about leads is no help for their unexplained revisions. Dan56 (talk) 19:57, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Can u revert the edits to both the articles to my revisions? Or atleast partial revert, as u can see with the article history page, some information was slanted/removed (WP:NPOV), including reception info for Raymond v. I don't think that's what is needed. No need to move it. I've changed Gimme Dat (Ciara song) to redirect to Gimmie Dat, and I'll check for links; that should be fine. No need to have the brackets on the page title.  Chzz  ►  03:02, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's like that on the single cover. If you look at all the references, and click the ones to the iTunes Store, Candy, you can see it. Im asking a bunch of people, the more the merrier lol. - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 00:07, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

and Polow Da Don.

Candy, nice to meet you. I would like to ask you if you don't mind. Do all of these (above) wikilinked names tell anything to you? Are they common names and terms? Are you aware of what you did?

You undid them all.

And your comment you made towards me was rather offensive too, thinking with, that you reverted all my (wikilinking) edits. I do not appreciate that.

You said this to me:

  • Hi, I have noticed that you are going through several pages and linking almost everything that has an article. Per WP:LINK, only uncommon terms need to be linked in Wikipedia articles. For example, for a Christina Aguilera music article, you already know she is a pop singer and what a pop singer is. Therefore the term does not need to be linked. Please study WP:LINK. Thanks!! Candyo32 7:11 pm, Today (UTC−2)

Yes, I might know that she is a pop singer and what pop singer is. What about if someone else doesn't know? I could make the same argument with electropop for instance and what about Ester Dean? I have never heard of her. And I'm sure millions of people around the globe have never heard of her neither. Polow Da Don, Tanner Stransky, James Montgomery? You unlinked them all. It's not nice to these people because there are articles about them and they all are relevant. That's why their names were mentioned and that's why I wikilinked them which you undid.:-)

Another few examples:

According to you, we should not wikilink them at all. Everybody who has an interest in Jazz, Latin and classical music knows who he is and what he plays.

Is it?

What do you think? According to you, none of those should be linked. Everybody knows them.:-) Go to these artists' articles and unlink them all and see what happens.:-)

Please revert yourself and put my edits back. If you like we can discuss this matter at a proper place such as Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents or we could first ask a senior Wikipedian for a third opinion. You could even ask me before you made these three reverts.

One more thing though. At Wikipedia it's nice and widely accepted to say please see WP:LINK, but not please study WP:LINK. It's better isn't it?:-)

Please be kind and revert yourself, I'll appreciate that. Cheers. Fusion is the future (talk) 00:59, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Candy, you kept your promise. I do really appreciate that. You have a solid common sense as you are very honest an sincere too. Thanks again. Fusion is the future (talk) 14:51, 2 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Randommmm edit

Haha that is very random! Yeah unfortunately i spent too much time cruising through last year at university. This year has been a rude awakening that I need to pick my game up big time if I'm to get a high degree class. Return the Favor GA is almost complete. Yeah i'll still be around just not often. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 19:13, 3 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

You're GA is RtF is done... well doneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I have commented on the discog issue but due to semi retirement I won't be able to fully get involved in the debate. I will try and stop in every so often. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 01:10, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I forgot to mention i found this and thought you would LOVE it... haven't had time to do anything with it so far. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 01:33, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi :) edit

Hi Candy, Thanks for passing "Music Box", I'm waiting for you to do "OMG" so don't forget. Also, can you do that small section for "One Sweet Day"? :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 04:02, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey, why thank you for all that info! I'll be sure to do that. Don't worry :) Your very kind, I see what you mean, I do tend to abuse the audio samples lol. I will remove some of them and move one to the singles section. Yes, I'll be ready to pass "OMG" anytime :D. Thanks Candy!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 23:36, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Here I Stand edit

Hey, I don't suppose you have a copy of Here I Stand? There are clashing reliable sources over who produced "Moving Mountains", and I was hoping you could help me out. Oh, and I have reviewed "My Chick Bad" for GA - you may have missed it... Maybe its time to archive your talk page again, too :). Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:41, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

User possibly claiming ownership edit

Can u help me and talk some sense into User:Groovemaneuvers? He has been removing content from P-Funk-related articles Go Fer Yer Funk and A Fifth of Funk, because according to him, the edits "were necessary because I generally do not feature album reviews for any P-Funk album article that I create. Since I was the one who created the article, I generally reserve the right to eliminate any additions not made by myself" (my talk page). I've tried to explain things simply to him at his talk page, but he doesnt seem to get it. Dan56 (talk) 20:22, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

OGG for "Best Behaviour" edit

Hi Candy, I'm currently fixing up "Best Behaviour". It lacks an audio sample though and your files are always of the best so I was wondering if you can upload one of the song "Best Behaviour" by N-Dubz as soon as possible. I'd highly appreciate it x. You da man :) edit

I see you are beginning work on the Shake It Up page, can't wait to see how it looks. :) QuasyBoy 20:14, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I know what you mean, when I first joined Wikipedia I was all about editing TV articles, then for a while a did music, then earlier I jump back to TV. I still edit music once in a while though. But I am sure the article will turn out GREAT with your track record. :) QuasyBoy 04:50, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Looks really GREAT. :) and if you are talking about Tvtonightokc, he's not a bad guy. :) A lot of edits are done in good faith. Some might count as original research, but let's face it 95% percent of the content on this site is based of original research. QuasyBoy 18:27, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

singlechart templates edit

Give me some examples of songs that have charted on those charts, and I'll add them. I always need examples to test with.—Kww(talk) 00:25, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

My priority right now is writing the code for the supporting bot that automatically updates and corrects singlechart-based charts. Once that is in place, I'll work on the album parallel. I'll get the gospel stuff done within a week.—Kww(talk) 01:49, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hurry edit

Hey Candy, while I don't appreciate you butting in to my GAs :P I got some news :). So people are already bugging me to fail "OMG" because its taking you too long to address. I really don't want to, so please take care of it soon. :) Thanks--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 18:35, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Waiting for a few more fixes Candy.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 02:45, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fantasia Barrino discography edit

Hey Candyo32. The FLC is becoming a bit of a battleground for FLC vs MOS vs ACCESS. It's radical, but I'd suggest you withdraw this nomination until the overriding issues are resolved. As you can see, some of the ACCESS guidelines have been a bit scattered recently. It's entirely your call but right now, the FLC is being used for something inappropriate (in my mind).
