Litany of St. James edit

Did you mean Litany of St. James or LITURGY of St. James? --Midnite Critic 05:00, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uhm, yeah. Hey, they both start with "L" don't they? Reverend Mommy 06:15, 11 March 2007 (UTC)candlembReply

You're very welcome. I too have an interest in early liturgies. --Midnite Critic 14:14, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Liturgy Geek? edit

Okay, having been raised by a father whose primary theological focus was the conservative Wesleyanism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries (think early Church of the Nazarene) and now, myself being a priest in an independent Syriac Orthodox Church (which, BTW, ordains women), I have to like a UM minister who describes herself as a "liturgy geek". I think it is a wonderful thing that more and more Methodists and other Wesleyans are rediscovering Wesley's Anglo-Catholicism, something of which my father was completely unaware. In any event, I want to make two (additional) comments: first, while again I like your outline for the "Christian liturgy" article, any such outline needs to include more about the various Eastern Rites, including the Byzantine, Syriac, Coptic, Armenian, and Assyrian/Chaldean, their interrelationship, and their relationship to the "Jerusalem Rite" as discussed by Cyril of Jerusalem as well as the (long, long, long) anaphora found in the "Apostolic Constitutions". Second, if you have not already done so, attend the Paschal/Easter liturgy at a (Byzantine Rite) Orthodox Church, preferably one in which English is the primary language. You will never forget it! And, since it starts around midnight of Holy Saturday, it shouldn't interfere with your pastoral duties. One last anecdote: some years ago, I attended a Coptic liturgy. I got started late, and en route, got lost. The liturgy started at 9:30 AM; I showed up around 11. The priest was preparing to read the gospel. --Midnite Critic 15:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

I just noticed on your user page, the link for "Anaphora" Goes to Anaphora (rhetoric) instead of Anaphora (liturgy). I thought you might want to fix it, but I didn't want to mess around on your user page uninvited.

Request for help with Antiochian Catholic Church in America article edit

I realize this article does not fall within your primary purview, but I would appreciate your help in protecting it from edits which are, at best, POV, and at worst, defamatory and/or vandalism, emanating from a suspended Deacon-Monk of this Church, of which, in the interests of full disclosure, I am a priest. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter, and if you have comments, questions, or concerns, please contact me via my talk page. --Midnite Critic (talk) 08:12, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

New article needs look-see from fellow United Methodist edit

Hi Candlemb, I found your contact info and user profile through the Methodist Workgroup. From your list of interests and achievements, it looks like we share more than a few areas of similar interests. As for the Methodist connection, I'm a pastor in the Desert Southwest Conference. With the recent nomination of the first Hispanic woman to the Supreme Court, I've been motivated to create a Wikipedia entry for our Bishop, the first Hispanic woman to be elected to the episcopacy of the UMC. Would you mind looking it over and seeing what suggestions or changes would be in order before I put it out there?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Higgledeepiggledee/Minerva_Carcaño

I am especially perplexed by two things: 1) the "Documentation" box crammed between the info box and the article and 2) how to get the article to move up next to the info box.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks! Higgledeepiggledee (talk) 05:39, 6 June 2009 (UTC)HiggledeepiggledeeReply

Well, looks like I figured out how to ditch the "Documentation" box -- but could still use any suggestions or input on the content, layout, style, etc., etc. Thanks! Higgledeepiggledee (talk) 06:52, 6 June 2009 (UTC)HiggledeepiggledeeReply
